A Gamer on Equis

William was not very happy at the moment, mostly because he just got ran over by a golf cart.

He slowly looked around the black void he was in and thought to himself, “Yep, I'm most likely dead.”

“You are correct young one.” A rather raspy voice rang out from the endless darkness surrounding William.

Whirling around, William saw the source of the voice, a man hidden in a robe and hood carrying a scythe, slowly approached.

William knowing that trying to run would be probably pointless so he waited for his judge.

“Most people try to either run or attack me on sight, but apparently you're a bit wiser.” The Grim Reaper chuckled in slight amusement before continuing.

“Where are my manners? My name is George one of Death's Grim Reapers and I'll be your escort to where ever you are destined to go.”

George paused before he asked “Any questions before we go?”

William thought for a moment then decided he'd have all eternity to get answers to his curiosity.

“No George, I am ready to go” William stated as he just shifted from leg to leg in nervousness.

George just tilted his hooded head as he said “Well now, this is probably the most polite anyone's ever been to me. Normally I get pricks.” He said as he seemed to poof a scroll from nowhere.

“Now before we go I need to know your name and see where you go.” George said as he raised a rather normal finger to the scroll.

William just quirked a brow and shrugged.

“My full name is William, Henry, Hunter.” William announced loudly as he crossed his arms and waited patiently.

George nodded as he was searching through the scroll, then stopped as he reared back in surprise.

“Well, that's new.” George said in shock, lifting his head to look at William.

“Apparently the higher powers, also called gods are bored and decided to randomly pick one soul, you and offer them a new life.” George looked back the scroll as he continued. “Now to entertain them they decided to give you the powers of the Gamer” George looked up and asked “Do you know what they mean? Because I'm afraid I don't”

William after hearing the offer was in shock. To be offered the ability to live life like a Game? Like in the manga? William already knew he'd accept the offer, so he grinned as he answered. “The Gamer is someone who lives like reality is a Video game, most notably like a Role-Playing game.” George held up a hand and interrupted.

“Okay, I understand now. Jeez, that sounds awesome.” George said as he looks back to the scroll. “Now the gods have decided that as long as you entertain them you'll always play the game, meaning if you die you can start a new game or load from a previous save. Now also you'll have the choice to go to multiple worlds to live in as you play” George just slaps his face as hey says “Lucky bastard, anyways you can choose avatars

to reincarnate as, each one has different stats and beginning skills. Note that Skills you develop or buy from the shop with points that you gain from playing, carries over to all saved and/or new games.” George just stared at the scroll and William went slack jawed at all the things he could do if he accepted. George clears his throat as he continued.

“Weapons and items that are bought from the shop are also carried over. Lvls and stat points are NOT carried over.” George just sighed in relief as he said “Thats all that’s on the scroll. Well, William do you accept the gods' offer?”

William just stared at George for a moment before laughing like a mad man. “George, what kind of crazy moron would I be if I declined THAT? I mean I could be anything I wanted to be with this! I accept the offer, of course.” William spoke lightly, while throwing his arms up in the air. George just nodded and said “The gods have heard your answer. You'll be transported to a subspace zone shortly.”

William looked at George with a smile. “Hey George? Thanks for all your help, maybe you can watch my adventures when you have time.” He said smiling as he held a hand out to George. George looked at the proffered hand and shook it. “I'll be glad to watch when I have free time. Thank you.” George said happily as he disappeared suddenly.

William was confused until he saw what looked like a menu screen.

William was in awe of the Holographic display, looking at it he was about to press OPTIONS when a new screen popped up.

William just looked at the Achievements a little confused. “Why did it take points off for dieing a virgin? Well with as many points as I have, I really can't complain” William thought to himself as he scratched his head, before shrugging it off and pressing the options button.

In the options William noticed that there was three difficulty settings, with the current setting on “Normal”. William switched it to “Easy” mode, deciding he could change it later if it got too boring. Looking at the other options, he saw an option to either verbally or mentally activate skills, William just smiled and set it to mental.

The only other option that William could see was cheats, though he had no cheats to use at the moment so he hit the back button.

Back at the main menu, William decided to press the “SHOP” menu. In this menu, William saw all sorts of good things to buy with his 322400 points, so he bought the following.

DETERMINATOR PASSIVE SKILL:100,000

Experience multiplier 5: 10,000

additional 6 points in all stats per lvl: 100,000

Money multiplier 5:10,000

After buying what seemed good at the time, William went back to the main menu. He then pressed the “NEW GAME” button, opening a new screen that said “PLEASE STATE A WORLD”. William thought to himself a bit. “I want to go to a world where I can train in my abilities and gain new ones while entertaining the gods”. William then had an idea. It was a world that some interesting things happen daily, but wasn't overly dangerous.

William smiled as he raised his arm in determination. “How about Equestria? It's a rather safe world but has some danger to it so I can gain new skills.” William said to the screen hoping it would work.

The screen made a humming noise and then beeped. After a few moments a very nice, blue planet with several land masses appeared on screen with some information.

CANNON EQUUS

This world is perfect for those just starting out, or just need a break from more harrowing worlds. LVL recommended 1-20

William was ecstatic, smiling widely as he fist pumped. “This is perfect! I can more or less grind here in peace, help the locals and get some skills for more dangerous worlds!” William said as he pushed the accept button changing the screen to the “AVATAR SELECTION” screen where he could change his avatar. Curious he checked it out.

William was intrigued as he quirked his brow and decided to take a closer look at his options. Each avatar had its own strengths and weaknesses so he looked at them separately and at their stats.

Basic Human

The Basic Human is pretty much jack of all stats and does not specialize in one area. Though Humans are weaker than most ponies, they make up for being inventive, adaptable and cunning. 50% increased exp to skills.

Basic Earth Pony

The Basic Earth Pony is the soldier, the farmer, blacksmith, etc. These ponies are as stalwart companions as they are stalwart foes. 50% exp gain to skills related to earth, additional 20% armor.

Basic Pegasus

The Basic Pegasus is the rouge like tribe relying on speed and weather manipulation magic to help others. 50% exp gain to skills relating to weather, 30% additional speed.

Basic Unicorn

The Basic Unicorn is the mage, Excelling in magecraft and other magical pursuits. 50% exp to all magic based skills, 50% decreased casting time, 50% decreased cost for magic.

William was in awe of how overpowered these avatars appeared and decided for now to stick with Basic Human, clicking on the male button when the gender selection came up and waited for the next part.

The next screen asked when in the time line he wanted to be inserted in. William thought about it and chose the point right after Nightmare Moon was defeated. After clicking the accept button the screen said “Good luck” right before he blacked out.

“What is it Princess?” William heard a feminine voice speak out, which he recognized as Twilight Sparkle. “I don't know Twilight, but I want you to take every pony and get behind me.” A motherly voice answered Twilight as William opened his eyes and looked towards the other voice. William instantly recognized the alabaster alicorn as Celestia with a soft glow around her horn and swiftly checking around I saw Luna as she was after Nightmare Moon.

“Ah, crap” William thought because he inadvertently crashed Luna's Return Party.
