Galactic travel was seen as a great step forward in humanity's search for newer and better technology, opening up access to thousands of worlds outside of our own.

Some people didn't agree with this idea, instead seeing only greed; scouring the stars for resources, and domination. One such group was the Militia, rising out of the ashes of barren planets, made so by the exploitation of the IMC.

It was these two factions that left rich, beautiful and habitable worlds a wasteland, devoid of all life and cursed to never sustain such wonders again. With the galaxy in the grips of war, the Core Worlds, consisting of the Sol System and it's closest neighbors, devoted huge amounts of money and resources to finding a way to fix these problems. This struggle lasted for almost 4 generations, until the breakthrough was made. In the year 3475, scientists at Hammond Robotics, the very company often sited to be one of the primary causes of the war, developed a way of time manipulation through "High Speed - High Mass" intergalactic travel.

The methods in HS-HM travel were often debated, primarily because of the implications of such devices. They left a physical rip in the fabric of space, not dissimilar to that of a black hole.

It was using this technology that would change the concept of warfare forever, for it allowed traveling to separate realities, although such findings could never be analysed, for it was a one way journey through the rip.
