Chapter 1: Why is the end always the beginning

So as I wait here in the cell, waiting for the guards to come get me for the trial I start wonder what happened to Luna after we got back and i was carted straight into this cell. As I was wondering I start to hear the echoes of someone coming down the hall to my cell. I start to get up just as the first guard comes into view from the other side of the bars.

"Get up, the princess wants you in the throne room for your trial." The guard says to me when I manage to stand up on my shaky hooves.

I get up and we start walking to the throne room going past some old cells that look they haven't been used in a while, except for the rare few that have a prisoner or two trying to sleep.

When we get out of the dungeon I start to remember why I hated walking in this castle its like a maze of corridors with the chance of see a maid walking somewhere or a guard standing at certain points, and they never really liked me to begin with so they would never give me directions to anywhere that I wanted to go.

Before we get any further I should probably tell you the name and what the pony who's story were going to be listening to and what he looks like. Midnight Ember and he used to be friend to the Princess of the Night, Luna. He's a unicorn with a Midnight blue coat and black mane and tail with a dark gray streak running through them. my cutie mark is a star with a bright blue flame next to it. Anyway back to the story.

They stopped right outside the throne room doors "Go inside, walk up to the throne, bow, and than wait for further instructions." The guard said right before he opened up the doors to the throne room. So I went inside the throne room keeping my head down so I didn't really get to see what the throne room was like just yet. As I came up to the throne I stopped and bowed before looking up to Celestia.

"So why don't we start from the beginning. Tell me what happened from the day you started your little 'adventure.'" Celestia commanded, so I thought back to that day a month ago when everything was normal and I just got out of bed when I heard a knocking from my door.

The sun was just setting, you may find that weird but I'm nocturnal for the sole reason of I like watching the stars when I go on my walks I even got a job as an astronomer so I could work at night. When I got to the door I opened it to see a royal guard standing there with the usual stoic expression that I've only managed to break once. "Princess Luna requests your presence at the castle immediately." The guard said before heading out for whatever the guards do when their not annoying someone. So I decided instead of going there right now like he said I was going make some breakfast before I headed out and bathe.

So after my breakfast and bath I headed out to the castle on the route I take every time Luna calls me up there passing a bunch of ponies going home for the day or heading to the local bar to drown their sorrows in alcohol just like they do every time I take this route. No one stops me since I don't really know a lot of people just Luna, my boss, and a couple friends I haven't seen for a few days.

When I got to the castle I went to the only room I knew the way to, and that's because it was right across from the entrance, the throne room it was open since there was no night court tonight since its was the weekend. The throne room was just like you would expect any throne room to be in length but one side had a throne with a sun icon and a sun banner and the other side had the same but replace sun with a moon, you would expect more but whatever right?

When I went inside I saw Luna inside waiting for me since she knows I don't know my way to any other room In the castle. When she saw me her eyes lit up and she started smiling. She started walking towards me while I was walking towards her so we met halfway.

"Ready for another night of star gazing Midnight?" Luna said. Oh right I keep forgetting we made Saturdays days when we get together and stargaze since she has no court and I don't work on Saturdays, I really don't have a good memory and it has screwed me over in life many times and it will continue to screw me over in my future.

It was a quite walk over to Luna's room and when I walk in silence my mind usually tends to wander to random subjects, I think at the time I was thinking about cheese why? you ask I don't need a reason to think about cheese its cheese. When we made it to her room we went inside and than we started watching the star while talking about how our previous night was, mine was pretty normal go to work go home read for awhile and go to sleep while her day was pretty boring it was a slow night in court only a few ponies came by.

When a shooting star started going by we both stopped talking and just stared at it awhile until it started coming closer. It turned out to be a meteor coming down to earth and it crashed a couple miles from here. We were both surprised this happened today and it looked like there was a glow coming from the direction of the crash site.

"So want to go check out the crash site since we have nothing better to do?" I asked Luna. "Sure but I don't think we'll  find anything to interesting there, but it will be a good place to have lunch." She responded. So she grabbed a saddlebag and loaded it with some food for our lunch and then we sneaked past all of the guards who are really incompetent and I'm surprised they still have a job at this point.

So we headed out to the crash site to check it out and have some lunch.
