Octavia Melody is a cellist of Canterlotian birth, born to a family of nobles. A refined mare of impeccable taste. But when the Gala goes horrifically awry, and when Prince Blueblood, the Unicorn Regent berates her for it, Octavia makes a grave mistake which causes her to fall from the grace of Canterlot's elite.

Vinyl Scratch is an aspiring DJ originally from Ponyville, born to a mother she barely remembers. A street-savvy mare with a flair for thumping bass lines. When she moves from her home in Ponyville where her brother, Longplay, has cared for her for her young life to an apartment in Manehattan, it looks like things may be looking up. But when she runs out of luck trying to break into the scene, a hastily scrawled note pinned to her door and a severe lack of funds leaves her with no options.

Manehattan can be an awfully unforgiving place for those ill-prepared for it, and when fate conspires against these two mares, can they find a way to scrape a living?
