The night is dotted white with clouds of black and blue in the air. The streets of Ponyville have fillies running around playing school yard games among one another. The mares and colts of the town head towards their homes or off to the local pubs to try to get lucky for the night. All of the buildings emit light from the fireplaces and are bustling with activity from the ponies inside who are using up their last bit of energy before the head off to slumber. There is only one quiet building in the whole town, no light coming from the inside and no sign of activity. The Golden Oak Library is as still as can be and no body knew why. Ponies were asking each other all day why it was shut down for the day, they just guessed that Princess Twilight had some royal errands to attend to and was to busy to run the library. She had been seen in town less frequently for the last week and had only been seen going to one shop, to the GameGo. None the less, folks around town just went about their day not knowing that the Princess hadn’t been doing any royal duties that week. In fact, she never left her house since she got what she needed from GameGo.
Twilight knew that nobody, besides Spike and herself, was aware that the library had a basement. She had kept this secret from everypony, including her 5 best friends, for a reason. Twilight smiles to herself in the shallow light in the hollow root beneath the ground. Tonight was the night were she began her separate life. Few knew that Twilight was an avid gamer and those who did knew that she would use her royal status to get the Nerve Helmet the day before it was released.
“Being a princess sure has its benefits…” Twilight mutters to herself with a sly smile in the dimly lit room. She trots slowly to the center of the room where all her equipment laid. A giant computer laid on top of a mahogany desk with multiple wires coming out of it connected to the Nerve Helmet and to two NAS’s, she made a checklist just for this occasion. The Nerve Helmet sat on top of a Hoofpedic bed that had bedside counter with an alarm clock on it set to 7 in the morning. As much as she would love to play her game for 24 hours straight, Spike was still her number one priority. She could always replace a dead Nerve Helmet but she could never replace her number one assistant. Luckily she got him to go to bed early so that she could spend as much time as possible in the game.
“Computer, check. NAS’s up and running, check. Bed, check. Alarm set, check. Nerve Helmet functional, check…” One by one items on the check list were being marked off by Twilight. She smiled to herself again as the last box was checked off.
“I’m good to go!” Twilight says in the quiet room.
The princess climbs onto the bed carefully, she wanted to be as comfortable as possible if she was going to stay in place for hours at a time. She slides the Nerve Helmet onto her head being careful not to get her dark purple mane stuck into it. Finally comfortable, she lies still belly-up on the bed with the headgear on. Closing her eyes Twilight remembers the last picture of reality before she begins. With a last smile Twilight opens her eyes.
“Nerve Helmet, ON!”
A white screen comes up. Measurements of weight and height show up and disappear along with facial settings and right-hoofed settings. Twilight groans a little when the Terms and Conditions comes up but she quickly accepts, wanting the damn settings process to be done with already. A minute of loading goes by and then a question pops up in the middle of the screen.
Initiate?
Finally! The princess thinks to herself impatiently. She takes a second to register the moment she had been waiting for for a long time. The moment ends, Twilight gives a slightly devilish grin.
“HERO WAR ONLINE, START!!!”
Multiple colors flash in front of the princess and then a blinding a light appears which makes her close her eyes.
The light fades to black.
Twilight slowly opens her eyes and looks into a mid-day lit, medieval town square.
Little Overview of Sword Art Online
I'm just writing this chapter because this website requires 1000 words in the story before it can be submitted so this little 'chapter' is just so the Prologue can be uploaded. Just to fill in the last 300 words I needed I will post a little description of Sword Art Online for those who haven't seen the show yet.
Sword Art Online (SAO) is a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG), released in 2022. With the Nerve Gear, a virtual reality helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds.
On November 6, 2022, the players log into SAO for the first time, and later discover that they are unable to log out. They are then informed by Akihiko Kayaba, SAO's creator, that if they wish to be free, they must reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if their avatars die in-game, their bodies will also die in the real world. One of these players is Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya, who was chosen as one of the 1,000 beta testers in the closed beta. Since he had previous experience and knowledge of the game, he felt that he could beat the game easily. As a result, he set out to beat the game on his own. As the game progresses for two years, Kirito eventually befriends a female player named Asuna with whom he ultimately falls in love. After the duo discover the identity of Kayaba's avatar in SAO, they confront and destroy him, freeing themselves and the other players from the game.
Hero War Online is going to be loosely based upon this television and manga series. Princess Twilight is going to be the main character in this story and she'll actually be hiding her status of Princess from the game so that she can advance on her own rather than have her subjects give her free stuff and bow down to her.
