The birds began so wake and sing in the distant as the morning broke. The light was still dim as it pierced shutters to the dark rooms of ponyville. Slowly the town awoke and shutters opened to great the rising sun.
The bells in the town centre started to ring out. the sound awoke the stallion curled up in bed.
His eyes opened eventually, his eyes now un-tucked he could clearly make out the sound of chatting outside, must be the market he thought to himself as he began to slowly dose off agaiin. THE MARKET!!! he remembered! he sprung out off bed, now in a panic the stallion threw open his wardrobe and quickly dressed for work. He galloped down the stairs and rushed t open the door only to realise at the last second to forget he hadn't unlocked the top bolt! Bang, the stallions head bashed straight into the door. He quickly shook himself off after cursing celestia for his stupidity.
"Where is that boy!" snarled chuck
"That boy is late again! Every monday same thing! late, late, LATE! "
Chuck now trotting from side to side in a worsening temper look on his face.
At that moment the stallion burst into the workshop completely out off breath and almost collapsing. He quickly gained his breath and trotted to his work station. Chuck quickly arrived at the same spot ready to give him a morning greeting.
"So you finally decided to show up did you!" chuck shouted
"Boss i'm sorry but its monday you know...?" the stallion replied with a slight smile on his face
his boss looked unimpressed and just walked away leaving his work schedule for the day on his desk.
Employee: Silver Frost
Day: Monday
Orders: 5 dinning tables
Silver frost sighed, always the easy orders on mondays, not just fence poles instead.. He quickly got his out and began his routine job like the pony infront of him.
"Hey Silver Frost! how was the lay in? was it to Frosty to get up!" laughed the pony sitting next to Silver called Cherry Wood. He ignored her and carried on working. That same joke ever time he thought to himself. Silver Frost's cutie mark represented a chisel with two silver snow flakes on it. He was considered the best carpenter in the trade which is why his boss was never too hard on him, he didn't want his star employee to leave him.
Silver Frost had finished his first table when Ruby Fire walked in. Oh not now! why did she had to work today aswell as ! "Morning sleepy head! nice red mark, did somepony run into the door again" Ruby fire giggled as she slowly trotted past.
The two girls just talked all day like everyday, same old topics. gossip, boys and fashion.
It hurt my ears to listen to such nonsense. They must of read my face because the next thing i new they started to sing together and laughing all the way.
The day finally ended! Time to go home and sleep was the only thought he had. It had become dusk in ponyville and the town was starting to close up. The sunset glowed in the distance as it sat on the valley edge
Silver got home eventually and opened the door. Inside it was quite and lonely, not a single light could be seen inside. He closed the door behind himself and when to the kitchen for dinner. Yummy left over apple pie thought Silver as unenthusiastic as possible. He sat on his small sofa with only one candle on eating the pie.
He put down the tray and sighed.
"Looks like it just me again" Sliver spoke out aloud as he ascended the stairs to his room.
He then opened the door to his balcony and sat to watch as the last glimpses of the sun disappeared.
then in the corner of his eye he say a small twinkle, The stars of the night where starting to call.
His Head fell heavy and so his day came to an end as he slunk into his bed.
The clock started to chime again.
"Morning already" Silver Frost thought
The sun wasn’t out today, it lay hidden in the grey skies but outside still seemed nice and bright
Silver Frost crawled out of bed once again and wondered over to the balcony
He slowly stepped out and felt the cool air shimmer his main, he heard the sounds of voices below but stood facing the sky and toking in a breath
Cinnamon buns and cakes? The scent was strong as it wafted over the town. He spotted other ponies also looking up and smelling
Silver slowly walked back in and saw he was up an hour early
He angrily signed, "out of bed early! stupid clock"
Silver got his mane brushed and wore a hat today and headed downstairs to the kitchen
Quickly looking through the fridge he noticed nothing to cause delight and began thinking about those pleasant smelling cinnamon buns
As soon as he opened the wooden door to his house the smell hit him like a sledge hammer
His eyes widened with delight and before he even noticed he was half way down the street heading towards the shop
He felt so mesmerized, the smell of buns, the cool calm day, the way the wind was flowing through his white coat
"Morning silver!" spoke Colgate with a soft fresh voice as he passed
She was cute thought Silver as he returned the call of morning with a warm smile
"A smile? Why I haven’t smiled in a while..." the voice in his head began, "must be this perfect day" he concluded giving off another smile as he got closer to the smell.
Ah sugar cube corner the one place Silver knew if you were down this was the place to be.
There was no queue for those delicious cinnamon buns so he quickly dashed inside before anypony could form one
He immediately crashed into a Royal guard.
He quickly stood up straight and gave a quick nod of his head to show respect, "ah sorry I didn’t think anypony would be in hear"
The Guard just looked at him with no emotion and replied with a monotone voice, "no matter, but why are you in here?"
Sliver stood there with a very puzzled face as he sat on the floor, "um to buy some cinnamon buns...?" he replied softly
The guard now showed a bit of emotion, he looked as if down on silver, "This is for a Royal order don't you heard the news? Sugarcube Corner is closed today"
And with that the Guards shoved Silver Frost out and closed the door
Silver sat there the smile gone and replaced with disappointment.
He looked around and nopony was out anymore, he looked at the distance and saw a curtain of mist spanning over the down, then all at once it began to rain.
Silver slumped at he began to become soaked; he slowly walked to work and entered early.
His boss almost fell of his chair at the sight of Silver
"Did the hours go forward an hour and I missed it"
Silver replied with a slight chuckle and replied with a grin "maybe you’re getting older"
"well at least I’m a dry old pony" as he laughed and turned back to his reports
Silver clocked in and walked up to his work bench.
"Oh Silver Frost!" his boss called from his office
"I have an important order here from a top client. It’s your task so I expect top quality!"
"Of course my lord, have you got the blue prints" Sliver called back up
"Hey no joking this is important! and yes there on your work bench,"
Silver looked over the prints, a grand looking oak vanished table lined with gold. His eyes looking jealous, so he checked the client’s name
All he saw was a stamp of Chantalot, silver shrugged adding a comment "those right unicorns.."
He began working with the raw oak, such fine wood, the gain so elegant and the knots showed its age. He began to shave with simple plain uncovering more ancient layers.
The scent filled his nose, fresh wood as if he was in the forest. His stomach growled at the thought of the woods and te berries they may hold
The afternoon workers soon arrived but Silver took no notice he was too indulged with the grooves he carved out to represent the two sisters that showed on the flags
of Equestria, in centre the oak table. he smoothed out each grove and varnished as he went. soon he filled in the groves with stained glass provided.
"A perfect fit thank Celestia" silver thought to himself as he gave a sign of relief. Giving the top its third and final varnish he wiped it down apple to see his reflection.
Not a great once he noted, as his mane was ruffled and his coat hiding bits of shavings, if it were nightmare night he could of gone as a tree.
He returned to the blueprints to start on the legs, after just a few seconds he became raged. "This plywood stuck together onto oak! not on my tables!" he cried out and picked up the materials provided.
He hastily threw them in the back cupboard that he nicknamed the worthless wood. He trotted into the loft and grabbed maple wood and carried it down on his back.
Granted it was heavy but he be damned with any tables he made event have the slightest bit of plywood attached to it.
"What you doing with that maple wood Silver" the boss called
"For the oak table! That terrible plywood is in the cupboard"
The boss just smirked and chuckled, he knew far too well that h would be able to change Silver's mind.
"Sorry he's one of a kind that pony. Won't made anything below perfection," Chuck said as he turned to the client. "No its quite alright, I do like maple wood and its much better quality," She replied in soft but majestic voice
Silver was tranced by his piece of art he didn’t even notice his hunger anymore or the sound of hoof steps behind him. He filled down the legs to curve into the shape of a lions and at the base a claw as it to show it was holding onto the floor.
"That’s is quite beautiful" the soft voice spoke, floating into silver's ear
Even though it was soft it still made him jump and knock his head
"ow ow ow ow" he cried back with his eyes clenched shut and is hooves caressing his head
The soft voice giggled at Silver
She then tried to ask with a conncerned voice but still giggles escaped, "are you ok?"
Silver still with eyes closed replied "yes yes just startled" he replies with a smile. Her voice seemed to take the pain away and replace it with laughter.
He slowly opened his eyes to see the smiling blue mare facing him.
"So he opens his eyes finally" the mare spoke even softer
Silver rubbed his eyes thinking he became dazzled from the knock
"um yes it did her" silver replied with a smile but quickly stunned and added with a bow, "your highness"
