Oh, if only there was a solution...
The Arrival
Load Full StoryGeorge's fingers drummed on the keyboard, typing nothing.
“Bum ba da dum bum ba da dum bum ba da dum.” he said out loud. “How do people do this?” he wondered aloud, frustrated with his writer's block. “They write these fanfics like it's nothing, and people love them. How can they do it, but I can't? It makes no sense.” He remembered what is creative writing teacher said. Just put some words down. You will begin to see a pattern. But there was no pattern, because there were no words. He just didn't know.
He slammed his laptop shut, aggravated. He then went downstairs to his TV to watch some ponies. They were usually his go-to feel better thing. He opened his set of DVDs, mentally searching for an episode about writer's block. He exhaled deeply, realizing there was no episode relating to this sort of thing. The closest thing to that sort of thing was Inspiration Manifestation, but he was simply not interested in going into the dark arts in an effort to write a fanfic.
“RARGH!” he moaned, frustrated even further with his lack of pony-related stuff to do.
“Celestia damn the world!” He screamed with no one listening, as he lived alone. He was not used to having this sort of thing happen. When he made PMVs, the ideas would just fall into place. Lyrics synced with clips. Instruments synced with jump cuts and fades. Things just work out.
If only I had ponies here he thought. They would just tell me what was going on in their lives, hopefully something that hasn't been shown before. That way I could just write what they would say and format it in a fanfic. There was a knock on the door. George got up to answer it.
Behind the door were eleven ponies and dragon. George passed out from the shock.
When he woke up, he was in his bed, and Pinkie Pie was standing over him. She noticed he was awake.
“OOOOHHHH! Goody! You're awake!” she yelled out in a high-pitched voice.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
Pinkie smiled. “You wanted us here, silly!” said Pinkie.
“What?” said George.
“Twilight said that you wished us here! She said you really needed us!”
“Ummm..., where's Twilight?” George asked. He noticed Pinkie's left eye suddenly go bloodshot.
“She's coming up! She heard me say that you're awake!” squealed Pinkie as she bounded out of the room, passing Twilight on her way out the door.
“How are you feeling?” asked Twilight, showing some legitimate concern in her voice.
“Ummm..., fine?” responded George, still very, very confused.
“I understand you may not know why we are here.”
“Well, yeah.”
“Okay. Allow me to explain. I got a letter from no one, saying how I am needed in the human realm. It sounded urgent, so I made sure to come as fast as possible. There were very few details, so I brought everyone, thinking we should be prepared for anything. So, what sort of danger is this world in?”
George paused, considering an answer. On the one hand, this world was pretty terrible compared to Equestria. On the other, it is not the Equestrians job to save this world. Also, there was no great doom that could simply be solved. Just little things. Little things that made this world worse than Equestria.
“There is no doom.” said George, taking more time than Twilight was comfortable with. Now it was Twilight's turn to be confused.
“How could there be no chaos? It was clearly in the letter.” Twilight said as she levitated the letter from downstairs. George uncurled it. It was filled with jibberish that could not be interpreted as letters.
“There is nothing but nonsense on this paper.” said George, hoping to not offend Twilight.
“What?” replied Twilight as her face twisted in confusion.
“Look, this is just...oh, never mind.” sighed George, giving up. Twilight picked up on his frustration, so she decided it would be best to just drop it.
“What kind of things did the letter say?” said George, hoping to end the awkward silence that began after he questioned the writing ability of those without hands.
“Well,” Twilight began. “it said that there was imminent chaos. Nothing specific. Just a location and that there will be chaos. I don't understand why these things can't be clearer.”
“Maybe we should just go downstairs.” offered George, realizing that there was nothing to be gained from this.
“Yeah!” said Twilight with a sudden enthusiasm. “All of my pony friends want to meet you!” Twilight turned and walked through the door and descended the stairs to the living room, where her friends were.
George took a count. The mane 6 plus Spike and the CMC were present, making nine ponies and a dragon. However, there were two ponies, both unicorns, that George had never seen before. Twilight noticed George's confusion at the presence of these two and trotted over.
“George, this is B-roll,” introduced Twilight, motioning to the pony who was holding a camera. “and XLR.” motioning to the unicorn near a boom mic. “They make sure the documentary is recorded and broadcast in your world.”
George stopped. NOW he was REALLY confused. “Are you saying that...”
“Yes. The show called...erm... B, what was it called?”
“My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.”
“That's it. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a documentary show, focusing on me and my 5
friends. It sometimes focuses on the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Every frame you see of that is real.”
George looked around in mystery.
Rarity began from the other side of the floor, from the kitchen. “Where do you keep your fresh garlic cloves, darling?”
Rainbow Dash spoke up before George could say anything. “We don't need some lame garlic cloves, Rarity. We are here to stop some chaos, not cook!”
Twilight interrupted the two of them. “Speaking of which, there is something that must be shared. There is no chaos here.”
The ponies in the room gasped collectively.
“But...it was clearly in the letter.” squeaked Fluttershy, so quite she could barely be heard.
George sighed in aggravation. How could all the ponies read that nonsense?
“What's in here?” asked Pinkie Pie. George turned to see she was digging in his coat closet. She had a box labeled Best Finds on EQAD at her hooves.
“DON'T OPEN THAT!” screamed George, running over to put the box back on the top shelf. The whole room suddenly became interested in the contents of the box, which made George want to die of embarrassment.
