A special winter night

A Twilight x RainbowDash story

"Brrr it's cold." Said Twilight while lighting a fire in the fireplace. Winter had just rolled around the corner and it was getting colder everyday. "I better go get spike another blanket." Know if the little Dragon he would ask for another one anyways.

                            Meanwhile...

Rainbowdash was laying curled up in a ball trying to get some warmth out of her blankets. She and her weather team didn't mean for it to be so cold. No matter how hard she tried she couldn't stay warm. "Ugh I'll just go see if Twilight has any extra blankets that I could borrow." She grunted. She clambered out of bed and opened the door.

Her wings spread and she began too fight against the howling wind. By the time that she reached the library, ice was forming around the edges of her wings and mane. She knocked on the door and heard a faint "hold on." Soon after the door opened and Twilight appeared. "Oh my rainbow what are you doing out there? Come inside." She said. "Let me get you a cup of coco and then we can talk."

Rainbow Sat down on the small couch while waiting for Twi and began to warm herself up. Twilight entered again with some steaming hot mugs of hot chocolate. Rainbow grabbed her cup and took a sip. "So Dash, why we're you out in that cold weather in the middle of the night?" Twi asked.

"I didn't have enough blankets and wanted to see if you had any extra."Dash said. "After I got some I was going to fly home again." Twilight's eyes widened with surprise. "Fly back home? In that weather? Nu-uh you will stay here tonight and that is final." She said.

Dash didn't argue. She didn't want to fly back. It was to cold. "Well thank you Twi." She said finishing her hot coco.

After a few minutes twilight spoke up. "Well it's time for us to head up to bed." Twilight said. "You can use mine. I'll sleep on the floor." Rainbow getting a little flustered said quickly, "w-well we could, you know, share the bed."

She let out a small squeak out at the end on accident. Twilight blushed and asked,"A-are you sure?" Rainbowdash nodded her head. "Well okay, if you insist." Both of them stood and headed up the stairs and into the bedroom. The bed itself was very small and not at all meant for two ponies. As a compromise they slept on their sides back to back.

They climbed in, pulling the covers over themselves. They lay in uncomfortable silence before Rainbow spoke up. "Listen if this is to awkward I can leave if y-." She was cut off by twilight. "No no it's ok I'm good ." She said. Eventually, the two of them fell into a restless sleep...

                                 Morning

"Uuuggh why is it so warm?" Twi asked herself. She attempted to open her eyes, and succeeded. But instead of a bright sunlight all she saw was darkness. "What the hay?" She muttered. "Dash wake up, what happened to the sun?" Instead of just hearing her friend move she saw that it was Dashie's wing that was blocking the sun.

It also turns out that the reason she was so warm was because dash was snuggled up against her. Dash seemed to notice as well. "Aaggh s-s-sorry twi." Rainbowdash stuttered pulling away from twilight, making her extremely cold. "Its ok dash I know it was just an accident." Twi said, a blush forming. "B-but uhh s-since it felt n-nice I wouldn't m-mind if you um didn't m-move." Her voice stumbled. "I mean if y-" She was caught off guard by a pair of soft lips landed on hers.

Her blush only grew as Rainbow said, "Shh, you started to sound like Fluttershy." Without explanation Rainbowdash wrapped her wing around twilight and fell back into sleep. Twilight tried to stay awake but failed miserably. "I'll worry about it in the morning." She thought as she dozed of, sleeping next to her new found crush.
