Twilight and her friends were sitting in the library trying to escape the boredom that encapsulated all of Ponyville. All throughout the streets ponies milled about, preoccupying themselves with work or chores. The world seemed apathetic compared to the excitement that was wrought during The Royal Wedding and, it seemed, everypony knew it. Even the weather inspired laziness. "I'm bored." cried Rainbow Dash who was flying in upside down circles around her friends. "Yeah? and what's new?" chided Applejack with a grimace as she set down her book. "what's new is that we've been in this library for so long that I actually feel like reading!" said Rainbow incredulously. "Well maybe if you read once in awhile maybe you'd know what sarcasm is!" Twilight groaned as Rainbow dropped from her flight and alit in front of Applejack. "Well maybe if you had fun once in awhile you'd know why reading is for nerds!". Screamed Rainbow Dash. Applejack locked eyes with Rainbow and they glared with such an intensity that Twilight could feel it from where she sat. "Honestly, can't you two go five minutes without incident?" asked Rarity as she eyed them over her fashion magazine.  Fighting had become the norm for those two and it wasn't helped that the disagreed about everything. I've got to stop this before they destroy the library! again! "Girls! Stop fighting!" she cried as she pushed herself between their battle of wills. "Look I know expectations are high for excitement from the wedding, but we just have to endure until we can find something to occupy our time. But until that happens, no fighting!" Rainbow Dash and Applejack looked at her then said "Fine!" in unison before glaring one last before moving away form each other. This has been one of the many fights that had broken out between them since the wedding and their attitudes weren't helping with the boredom. Twilight had been trying to find something for them to do to relieve the stress and monotony that had infested their minds, but to no avail. Every time she got close to an idea- A loud scream could be heard from outside interrupting Twilight and crashing her train of thought. in truth she was happy that something stopped the boredom. Even if it wasn't her. As more screams joined the first, she and and her friends looked at each other and all ran for the door without prompting. Outside, A large crowd was running from three... somethings. They appeared bipedal and their skin was wrinkled and orange. They were clad in chipped and broken armor and wielded broken swords and they walked in an unsteady fashion. in front of them was a pony with a bleeding gash on her arm and she was limping away from the shambling figures before she tripped and fell into the dirt. She tried to get up... and failed as the front most assailant caught up to her. She rolled over onto her back as it raised it's sword. Wind whipped past Twilight as a cyan blur ripped towards the... thing followed by Applejack running as fast as her legs could carry her. Twilight turned to look at the others and saw only Fluttershy. She look and saw Rarity and Pinkie Pie running towards the fight. *********** Rainbow Dash exited her flight with a kick to the jerk who though he could hurt somepony and get away with it. The kick sent attacker flying into a wall. "C'mon now Sugarcube" she heard Applejack say. She turned to see her shouldering the injured pony and helping her get away. She turned back to see the other two advancing on her, swords raised. She entered a ready stance, ready to fight. A loud bang and a blinding flash and a lot of confetti replaced one of the... I'll just call 'em zombies. Thought Rainbow as she picked up the sword dropped by the zombie shot by pinkie's party cannon; and she gripped it with both hands. "This'll work" she mused aloud as she slashed the last one standing across the chest twice as blood oozed from the cuts. The zombie fell in a heap as a puddle of blood traveled outwards. The zombie that disappeared shambled back into the fight with a large beachball stuck to his head. as she dealt with him, she noticed that the beachball was covered in tiny sewing needles. She shivered as she imagined being hit by that fired from a cannon. She dispatched the final one with a flourish, lopping off his head and watching it roll away as Fluttershy screamed in the background. "Awesome!" she muttered, admiring her handiwork. *********** As Twilight watched the fight, she couldn't help but be impressed at Rainbow's swordsmanship, and she stared on in shock as Rainbow cut off the head of the remaining monstrosity. Fluttershy's scream broke Twilight from her trance and as she turned to look at her, she noticed the ragged breathing behind her. She turned and saw another figure, sword raised. It slashed down as Twilight threw herself backwards. She scrambled back until her back hit the library wall and she was cornered. As the monster shambled toward her with it's sword raising in the process, she crossed her arms in front of her face and screwed her eyes shut. Her arms and face were splattered with something warm, slick, and that tasted of iron. She opened her eyes and looked up at her attacker. A bloodstained, silver blade protruded from his chest as blood seeped out of the wound. She looked down at her hands. Blood she thought inwardly. The shadow covering her shifted and she looked up to see it's owner being lifted. The blade cut upwards until she heard a soft clack of it hitting bone. Then the body flew up and backwards before land face down on the ground.
