The Mane Six deal with problems extremely well. They have taken down hordes of evil. Or at least until the changeling queen defeated Celestia and herself. Then Equestria was in shambles and Spike gave it all up in order to bring hope.

Now they're putting that behind them. They're going all out and fighting for awesomeness. Not all are willing but all are going for the ultimate prize: being recognized as Equestria's most awesome pony.

I recommend reading the prequel first, but it is not required. It may give a BETTER understanding of the current setting.
