Chapters I'm starting to hyperventilate over the figure in the mirror. Everything I do, it does, and it's scaring me, and creeping me out. It's not possible for a human to turn into something else over night!! What I saw in the mirror was the face of a white pony with red hair that looks as if it came here from My little pony. But that isn't just a pony...It's me!! No. It's not me. I'm a human, not a pony!! I hate that show!! Hearing it is bad enough, seeing it is torcher, now being one is just...omg.
I take my hand, or when it was a hand, and put it under the blanket to flip it over.
"1...2...3." I count out loud to myself, then I remove the covers. I'm still wearing my usual nighttime clothes thank gawd. But I see the rest of my new pony body which is white, and a red...tail. My arms no longer have hands, and my legs no longer have feet. "Deep breaths. Deep breaths." I tell myself.
I hop out of bed trying to stand up on my wobbly new legs. I fall forward onto my arms, or forelegs now is what they are called. I get up again on my hind legs and balance myself out.
"Baby steps." I mutter to myself
I move one leg forward, and find it's not all that hard. It's quite easy. I begin to walk to the bathroom door where my brother is taking a shower in the bathroom.
"Max you in there?" I ask.
"Yeah, what do you want?
"N-nothing." "Go away then."
It seems as if he is normal. he is one that would freak out worse than me over something like this. I then sneak down the stairs, skipping the one that creaks, and i slowly poke my head around the corner. I see my sister on the couch, just sitting there. She looks in my direction, I jolt back up the stairs, and run into my room and shut the door. I slump down sitting on my butt,
"That was a close one." I say to myself.
Then I hear a knocking on the door, and Betty, my sister, calls my name.
"Marie! Open this door! MOM!" She cries.
Soon I hear footsteps coming up the stairs, signaling the coming of my doom
"I'm done for!!" I shout in my head. I look over myself thinking, what will they do if they see me like this?!
"Marie?" I hear my mom say as she approaches my door.
"Yeah?" I can't let them find out. I just can't. She attempts to open the door, but I'm in front of it.
"Open the door Marie!!" Ever fiber of my very being screams out to not let her see.
"Don't make me get your father!!" I sigh then move to my bed.
"You can open it now." I say. I hang my head in shame, with my eyes closed, and I hear the gasps of my mother and my sister as they enter and see what's on my bed...me. Even though my eyes are closed I can imagine the expressions on their faces.
"Marie?" My mom asks very confused.
"Yeah. It's me." I sigh a long sigh. Luckily my red hair drapes like a foot over the left side of my head so it pretty much hides my entire face. She sits next to me on the bed, and Betty just stands there not knowing wtf to do.
"What happened to you?" Mom asks.
"What do you think happened to me?" I say with a grumpy tone in my voice still looking down. She runs her fingers through my hair a single time.
"Marie is a pony!!" Betty finally cracks up as she jumps in front of me.
I look at my mother who stares at me with disbelieving eyes. She looks back at my red eyes for another second then gets up.
"Get dressed cause you're still going to school." She says.
"What?!" I shout standing up meeting her face. "You can't make me go to school like this!!"
"I don't care okay? You can't miss school. I'm not letting you get behind on your school work."
I have begun to slowly hyperventilate again as my mom wants me to go to school any way.
"If anybody sees me like this I will be the laughing stock of the year!!
"What's all this yelling about!?" I hear my dad roar as he comes up the steps. I groan and sit back down on the bed. My dad enters the room. "What's going on up here?" My mom points at me with a finger. "Your daughter."
He looks at me and just like me, he almost faints. "I told her to get dressed because she is still going to school."
"Oh my god." I mope placing my chin on a...hoof.
"You can't make her go to school like this!!" He says to my mother who is still on her period.
"I'm telling you what I told her. I don't care what she is, she is still going to school." I hear the bathroom door open and my brother enters my room. He glances at each of us, and when he sees me he freezes. "Hi." I say waving a hoof.
"NOPE!!" Then he turns around and leaves the room.
"Well let's get out so she can get ready for school." Mother says motioning everyone out the door.
"You guys go, I need to talk to Marie." My dad says. After they all leave dad closes the door and sits next to me on the bed. "Hey." He sighs.
"Hey." "S-sorry about your mother. She's still on her period." "I can tell." We both share a little chuckle. "I can't believe she still wants me to go to school. Its not fair." "Yeah, I know." He says back.
I look down again at my pathetic new body. "I'm scared dad. What will everyone think if they see me?" "I don't know but you should just do as mother says." Then he leaves the room. So far this is the worst time of my life.
I sit there for another moment on my bed realizing that now my whole family knows one of them has somehow impossibly turned into a pony. I grab my phone off the dresser and check the time. It's 6:00 in the morning. I get up and walk over to my shelf of clothes on the other side of the room, and I grab a pair of jeans, a blue aeropostale shirt, and a hoodie. I have to shove my tail I guess into my pants so it won't be noticed. I grabbed the ugliest hoodie I had which I don't know if it's green with gray stripes, or gray with green stripes. I chose this one because I'm actually the 5th most popular girl in my school, and I hope this will protect me from any attention, and drive people away from me.
I change out of my night time clothes and into my terrible outfit. I check the time again on my phone. 6:15 in the morning. It took me longer to change cause I was doing it with my eyes closed so I didn't have to see myself. After that I go to the bathroom and look at my new face in the mirror. I do have to be honest, because my hair is amazing!! That's all I like so far about this. But the rest of me is revolting. I go pee, then I head downstairs. My dad is by the door already wanting to leave.
"Get your coat on Marie, we're going somewhere." He tells me.
Where is he planning to take me like this? I just do as he tells me, and I put both my hood's up as far as possible, and I pull my hair, or mane in back of my head so it doesn't show, and I put my boots on since shoes will just fall off. We walk out to the black Chevy Malibu in the driveway.
I sit in the passenger seat in the front, like usual when we go anywhere. It's raining outside and I can hear the pats of drops hit the window as we drive. I rest my head against the cold window looking down at the ground. I'm surprised my dad is taking this so easily, as a matter of fact, he doesn't seem too stunned at all his daughter is a pony. We drive for about 10 minutes, then turn to an unused mud road which leads to a cliff, which is where we stop.
"Where are we?" I ask turning to look at him, pulling down my hood.
"This is where my father would take me when we ever needed to talk about something, so I figured taking you here would be good for talking."
"What are we gonna talk about?" I ask as he takes a deep long sigh, and he cups his hand on my left cheek.
"I know you're scared and confused about this, so that why I brought you here." He tells me.
"Okay."
"Is there anything in particular you are scared about?"
I look down, and sniffle a bit. "My boyfriend." I say quietly.
"You have a boyfriend Marie?" He asks me sounding a little shocked.
"Yeah." A tear falls down my cheek cause I'm sure he's gonna make me break up with him now. "If he finds out about me being like this, I'm sure he's gonna break up with me." I say sadly.
"Well, if he really loves you, he shouldn't break up with you."
"Thanks dad. I guess. I thought you were gonna be mad."
"No, I'm not mad. But look. You don't have to worry about me not loving you. You're my daughter. I'm supposed to love you no matter what."
"I love you too daddy." "Let's get you to school so you're not late. I don't want you to, but your mother does."
Words can not explain how I feel right now, but I hope nobody finds out. I can hear the windshield wipers go back and forth, washing the rain off of the window, and the pitter patter of rain hitting the glass. No words can express how scared I am right now. Like, what will people think if they see me? Will my boyfriend want to break up with me? Won't everyone want to pick on me? These are just a few of the questions I don't have answers to, that I hope don't get answered.
"Marie?" Dad asks.
"Yeah?"
"You gonna be okay?"
"I don't know." I say shrugging. "What do you think of me now, that I'm...you know. A pony?" I ask struggling to get the words out of my mouth.
"Well I don't see you any different, you are still the same Marie inside, so I see no reason to think differently of you."
"Okay."
"Put your hood up, were close to your school."
I look up out the window and see my school in the distance. I put my hood up, as far as it can go to hide my face.
"I still love you no matter what. You know that right?"
"Yeah dad."
We come to a red light and he leans over and hugs me. I can feel myself getting teary eyed, and I hug him back.
"I love you too daddy."
He lets go as the light turns green and we turn onto the street of my school.
"I'm going to drop you off in the back this time cause there's a lot of kids in the front. On a normal basis, I would plead for him to stop at the front, but this time, I'm very happy with this decision.
"Good idea." I reply softly.
We pull up to the curb and he looks me in the eye.
"Even if you are a pony, that looks like it came from a cartoon, you are still my daughter okay? Nothing will ever change that." He hugs me again, and kisses me on the forehead.
"Thanks dad. It means a lot." I manage to make a slight smile, and I hug him. We sit there for a few moments when he lets go again.
"Okay. I can't stall you anymore, so you should get going."
"Okay dad." I un-buckle myself and begin to leave the car.
"Keep your hood up no matter what okay?"
"I know dad."
"Bye I love you."
"Love you too dad." I close the door, and he drives off. I turn towards the school realizing what I'm about to face.
I enter the rear door, and see a crowd of kids going to and fro from every direction possible. I would normally cut through, but this time I'm gonna stay to the walls. I begin walking to the direction of my first hour and an announcement plays over the speakers.
"All students report to their homeroom classes. All students report to your homeroom classes."
Great I think to myself, cause now I gotta turn around. Passing time is only five minutes, but it took me 7 to get to class cause I'm still trying not to be seen. I walk into the room, and I see Jacob. He's talking to one of his friends so he doesn't see me. I hurry to the seat in the corner of the room and rest my head on the table.
The teacher doesn't seem to notice me either. Good. I don't want anybody to see me. Another announcement plays over the speakers.
"We will be letting students down to the gymnasium by grade for an assembly, starting with the seniors who can head down as soon as attendance is taken. Thank you."
Frack, an assembly? The whole school too? Soon I hear feet, and voices of students in the hall. About 3 minutes later, the juniors are sent to the gym. Next, for some reason the skipped sophomores and went to freshman. Don't know why. Five minutes later, we get called down. It's time.
I wait till everybody leaves the room to leave, but then, right before Jacob leaves, he notices me still in my desk.
"Hey what's up with the clothes today?" he smirks. I just get up and walk past him. "Whats the matter babe? Did I do something wrong?" He holds his arms out in the air.
"Just leave me alone please, I'm not in the mood." He walks up to me and matches my speed. We are behind everyone else luckily.
"Hey. What's the matter?"
"I just...want to be...left alone....please." He rolls his eyes. When we finally get to the gym I see his friend waiting. Alex Strong. Ugh I hate that kid. I walk to the other side of Jacob to avoid him.
We walk into the gym from the dim hallway, and I'm blinded by the light coming from the big windows and ceiling lights. We walk out onto the center of the gym and head to the bleachers past the freshman bleachers.
"What's up with you?" I hear Alex ask from behind. "And whats up with the cruddy clothes?" He walks to the side of me.
"Leave me alone Alex." I growl. "Now is not the time."
We walk just past the principle, then Alex does the worst thing he could have ever done to me. He pulls down my hood, revealing my secret to the whole school. I spin around and see him frozen in place. He looks me in the eye, then falls unconscious, to the floor, which attracts everyone's attention. I hear gasps, and screams, erupt all around me, and I can feel the stare of a-thousand eyes.
"M-Marie?" Jacob stutters, taking a step towards me about five feet away. "I-is that you?" Like before I look down, close my eyes, and sigh.
"Yeah. It's me." He looks at me in disbelief, and confusion.
I can hear chitter chatter coming from others, and I know they are talking about me, but it's not loud. It's actually quiet. I look at him and he reaches out to touch me face.
"Are you a..." He pauses. I know he wants me to finish it, so might as well get it over and done with.
"A pony? Yeah sadly. A pegasus to be exact, so I have wings. I guess." He just stands there gawking at me, and I can see people in the bleachers taking pics and videos with their phones and what not.
"I-I understand if you want to break up with me." I tell him cause who's gonna want to date a pony?"
"What? Why would I want to break up with you?" He manages to say.
"Look at me! People are gonna think you only like animals!"
He glares at me then walks over to the principle, and takes the microphone. Don't do what I think your gonna do. He walks back over to me.
"Testing"
He says into the microphone, and it echos all about the gymnasium.
"What are you doing?!" I ask. He just smiles.
"My name is Jacob Jackson as most of you know." He says into the microphone.
"I am taken by the love of my life, Marie Sanderson, and believe it or not. This is her." He puts a hand on my shoulder as more gasps and stuff like that are let out.
"We have been dating for three months as of last week. Now I was planning to ask her something very important today, and I figured now would be the best time."
I don't know what he is thinking or what he is going to do, I'm lost at a sea of questions and worries that seems to never end. Then he turns to me getting about six inches from my face.
"Will you, Marie Sanderson, let me take you to homecoming this friday?"
Suddenly I feel a knot forming in my chest. Did he just ask me to homecoming? Like this? He lifts my chin with a hand so I can look him in the eye, and he smiles the sweetest smile I've seen. I feel myself begin to hyperventilate again. I take a deep breath, and let it out. I smile back at him with tears in my eyes. I take the microphone.
"Yes Jacob. Yes I will." I say as a tear falls from my cheek.
The people in the bleachers roar out clapping and stuff like that, and I see some of my other friends run down to us from the bleachers. I see Alyza, and Jaccinda. They are smiling, yet I can see behind those smiles are confused teens. Jaccinda talks to Jacob, and Alyza comes to me.
"Hey." I say looking down nervously.
"Hey." She replies.
"What's up?" She asks.
"Well...I'm not sure if homecoming is gonna happen."
"You just said yes to him!"
"Yeah, but do you think my parents are gonna let me? Like this?"
"Well I'm not sure but if they do, you are NOT wearing those." She says gesturing to my clothes.
"Well yeah. I look like a homeless person." We both share a little chuckle.
"Hey Marie?" Jacob asks.
"Yeah?" I step over to him. He pulls me close and hugs me.
"I love you Marie"
"I love you too I say hugging him back."
Then the principle walks over to us.
"You guys need to take your seats in the bleachers." He tells us.
"Okay" Me and Jacob say, and I hold on to him as we head for the bleachers with Alyza, and Jaccinda right behind us.
We ascend the bleachers to the top, as many kids still stare and take pics and what not. We sit down by the stairs and I lean against Jacob. Right now I don't care what people think. I just want to cuddle with my boyfriend. Then the principle goes on with the assembly about what was supposed to happen.
"I love you too Jacob. I want to hold on to you, but I don't have fingers anymore." We both laugh. I kiss him on the cheek, and he rubs my hair, er, mane.
"Love the hair." He tells me. "I kinda like it too. I'm tired." I say yawning. I rest my head on his chest, and before I know it, I'm fast asleep.
I know I'm sleeping but I can still hear everything going on, but suddenly I'm nudged awake by someone, or something. I open my eyes to see everybody walking off the bleachers. I notice a lot of kids staring at me...but why? Then I remember. Oh yeah...I'm a pony. "Hey sleepy head." I hear a voice say. I look up to see Jacob. "Hey." He smiles a me. "Time to go." He tells me. I get up again on my hind legs like before. I stretch and let out a big yawn. I blink a couple times, then we make our way down the bleachers. I notice Alex isn't on the floor anymore. He is waiting by the door to the hall way. I lean on Jacob as we walk.
We get to the door when we are stopped by Principle Peter. "Marie!" He calls to me. I put my hood back up, as I turn to walk to him. "Y-yeah?" "First off, no hoods up in my school for any reason." He says pulling my hood back down. "Dude, this is so emberassing, so I'm gonna have it up." I say to him. "Look. I know this may be hard for you, so I'm going to email your teachers that if you don't feel right in class you can come down to my office to do your work." "Thanks I guess, but my mom won't like it. She sent me to school anyway so if I don't go to class she might get mad. I tell him. "Well I care about your education, and your safety. Why don't we go to my office to talk." "Okay." "C-can Jacob come? I don't feel safe without him." "Sorry, but he has to go to class." Ugh." I groan. "Bye Marie." Jacob says to me as the principle leads me away.
"Can I please at least put my hood up till we get to your office? You don't have any clue what goes on in the heads of those immature kids." "Fine." I make a sigh of relief as I put my hood up again. "Thanks." When we get out to the hallway I see kids oing to and fro from every direction again. Some kids notice me anyway by the ugly sweater, even though my hood is up. Ahead I see Alyza giggling at me. She follows as we pass her. "Hey Marie!!" She says nudging me with an elbow. "How does it feel being a pony?" She smirks and walks off. "See?" Thats just a fraction of what could happen!" I say to Mr. Peter. "Why?" "So you don't think nobody is gonna notice that I look like I just came from a little girls cartoon?!" "What one is that? And don't get snooty with me." He snaps. "Well sorry! It's not my fault this happened to me! It's bad enough that I'm this now, so I'm not gonna even mention that retarded show."
He doesn't respond this time. I see his office just ahead through the crowd of kids. As we step in to it the temperature of the air goes from warm, to cold. I take my hood off as I sit in a chair in front of his desk. I' so angry right now. I haven't been the one to be seen as angry. It's very rare that I get mad, but now I'm just pissed!! Mr. Peter sits in his chair on the other side of the desk, and turns to his computer and begins to type away. "I don't really feel like talking right now just to let you know. I'm very angry so I ask nicely to please leave me be." I tell him. "That's up to you. I'm just going to say that if you don't feel ok in your other classes, to tell your teacher that your going to come here."
I sigh as I lean back in the chair. "I'm going to let your first hour teacher know that I'm keeping you here, unless you want to go to class."I think I will just go because my mother will be pissed to find out that she sent me to school, yet I didn't go to any classes." "Okay, are you sure?" He asks leaning towards me. "Yeah, I'm sure." I say looking to the floor. "Okay then. I will give you a late pass and you can be on your way." He takes out a pencil from a drawer, and a pink slip of paper. He writes my name date time, class I'm going to and signs his name like usual. He stands up and walks over to me, and hands me the slip. "Hey, I know this must be strange and sudden to you, and I'm not sure what to think of it myself, but you just come here if you want to talk okay? I want you to feel safe." "Okay." I say taking the slip as I leave.
As I step out into the hall, I notice some kids are still rushing to class even though the bell rang three minutes ago. One girl stares at me as she walks by me. We are walking in the same direction at the same pace. I don't look at her. "What do you want already?" I snap at her. "N-nothing." She stammers. "Then quit staring." I realize I had forgotten to put my hood up when I left. "What your name?" She asks. "Were you not at the assembly?" I say rolling my eyes. "Y-yeah...I was." "Then you should know who I am. I turn my head to look at her, then I realize, she is in my first hour. "Marie Sanderson right?" She asks. "Yup." We continue walking but now we are both silent. We take a right down an all yellow hally which stinks like heck, and turn right into the first classroom. The door was closed, and creeks when opened so most of the kids in there looked up from their desks to see a pony standing before them.
I walk over to my assigned desk and sit. It just so happens that this girl sits in the desk next to me. Then I hear laughter to my right, and I see this big muscular black guy laughing. Tyrone Sweets. He shakes his head at my presence. Right now is not the right time or place to be laughing at me. "What you laughing at huh?" I say to him. He shrugs pretending not to know. "Nuthin." He says stupidly. "Don't play dumb. I know you're laughing at me." He gets out of his chair and stands in front of me. "You got a problem?" He scolds. "Blah! When did you last shower man? Dang you stink!" I say waving a hand, or hoof in front of my face. He grabs the collar of my shirt and hoists me out of my seat. "Say that again." I give him an 'are you serious' face. "That again." I say histerically.
"Now put me down." He just looks at me with a dumbfounded face, and by now, the whole class is watching. Even the teacher. He puts me down, then makes the worst decision of his life. He slaps me across the face. My head bangs to the right and spit flies to the floor. Oh no he didn't!! I take a deep breath, then I push my entire weight into his chest. He may be much bigger than me, but that doesn't mean I can't shove a bitch over. He falls back over his desk, and onto the floor on the other side. Then I jump over the chair and I land on his stomach and I punch him square in the face. The weight of my body on him knocked the wind out of him, and me punching him knocked his lights out. I get off him, as he lay there, a blob of unconscious lard on the floor. By now the teacher had made his way over to me and Tyrone.
The rest of the class just sits there staring at me as I stand triumphant. Apparently this dude had never had his ass handed to him. Well I did just that, and I delivered it on a silver platter. The teacher kneels next to him checking for a pulse and what not. How can he not tell he isn't dead? That dude breaths louder than a jet taking off!! "Marie!" "Yeees?" "What is your deal!?" He hit me so I was just protected myself, and you were just sitting there, so what else was I gonna do? Let him klobber me?" I tell him. He looks up to me and glares. I look around, and I see some looking at their phones most likely watching a video they took of me kicking this dudes butt. I sit back in my desk. "H-how did you do that?" The girl from earlier asks. "Well, I can be the coolest girl you have met, unless you piss me off. He had to learn the hard way."
"You can go down to the office Marie. That was un-called for." "What was I supposed to do?!" I ask. He doesn't reply. I wait for a few more seconds for him to respond, but he never does. "Exactly." He says nothing still, but only glares at me. "Just go to the office." "Fine." I collect my things, and I leave the room. I throw my backpack over my back. I start walking down the hall, when that girl comes next to me. "Okay, what do you want? You have never cared that I was in exsistance, until this." "No, the teacher told me to follow you to make sure you go to the office." "Mhhmm." God, it's only first hour, and everybody already knows what I am, all thanks to Alex. "I thought it was nice how Jacob asked you to homecoming. So are you really gonna go?" She asks. "I don't know. Why did I even say yes? I don' have a dress, and how do I know if he is even gonna show up?" "Who knows?" She says shrugging.
I don't know if he will show up at all. What if he lied to me just to make me feel better? This is already bad enough for me. I look down at the ground as I walk. "Are you okay Marie?" "Do I look okay?!" I say snapping at her. "Okay. Do you just want me to leave you alone?" "It's okay. I shouldn't have snapped. Sorry. I need to sit down." I say sitting on a nearby bench. She sits next to me, and puts a hand on my shoulder. Why does she seem to care about me all of a sudden? "What?" I ask. "I just want to say that even though we have never talked before, that you can talk to me if you feel stressed. I hate seeing people be depressed, or stressed out. I know what it's like, and it's not fun." I dont get it. Why is she doing this? I know she is just being nice, but...why? "Okay. thanks." I say to her. "Even though I have never been in your situation, but I can tell that, all of a sudden being a totally different species is hard." "Yeah, it is."
"Didn't you say that you're a pegasus during the assembly?" "Yeah." "Well that's cool right? I mean like you know how many people want to know what it's like to fly? Now you actually have the chance to do it!" She says smiling. "I guess." "Have you ever tried to yet?" "No. I haven't really cared for the fact I'm a pegasus now. The only thing that seemed obvious is that my life is going to get so much harder." "Well, just look at the positives okay?" "What positives?" I ask. "I'm most likely gonna get in big trouble for beating up Tyrone, now I don't even know if my boyfriend still loves me anymore now." "I'm sorry to hear that. But we should get going to the office now." "Okay." I say shrugging. "I do have to say your hair is amazing! Did you do that?" She asks exclaiming about my mane. "No. This is how it was when I woke up." "Really? That's amazing! Can I feel it?" "Sure I guess." She rubs my hair a couple times. "It's so soft." She says. "Well let's get going." She says getting up.
"I'm Chris by the way." She says helping me up. "Cool. Hey ?I'm sorry if I've been a bitch. This whole thing is just irritating me." "Don't sweat it. I was expecting you to be like this. Who wouldn't be pissed?" Whats going on with me? Why did this happen? How did it happen? It's like this whole situation changed me into a different person. Normally I would have been glad to talk to Chris even without knowing her, but instead I was pushing her away. Will I ever change back? Is this going to be permanent? These are just a few of the hundreds of question I have that go through my mind as we walk. "Are you okay Marie?" "I was till this happened." "Hey." She says stopping me. "Nobody ahs ever heard of a human becoming a different species, and you're the first one to ever experience it. Don' you feel the least bit honored?" "No." We turn a corner to the student services.
"So how does it feel? You know. To be another living creature?" "Don't eve get me started on that. It sucks." "So. Why did you come to school?" She asks. "My mother made me." I reply moaning after. "Let me guess. She's on her period?" She says smiling. "When is she not?!" We both share a small laugh. "And don't ponies walk on all fours?" She asks surprised that I'm walking only on my hind legs. "I guess. But somehow I ot used to this." We arrive at the student services office, which is usually empty, but HAD to decide to pick today to be full. The door has a bell on it, so when you open the door, the bell rings. There are about twelve students in here, and they all turn, and look at me. A group of black kids laugh at me, and the others just stare. I approach the group of black kids to my right. "What are you laughing at?" I ask, keeping a straight face cause, knowing what I am, any other face would look so retarded.
"Uh-oh, dude, I think you made it mad." One of them smirks. "What's your problem huh?" I ask. He shakes his hand chuckling. "Pathetic." I say turning around to the counter. "What can I help you two with?" The lady asks me and Chris. "We were sent down by our teacher Mr. Barnes." Chris replies. "For?" The lady asks not even looking up from her paperwork. "I uh, got into a fight." I tell her. Then I hear more laughing coming from the group of black guys. "Okay shut the up you three, or you'll get what Tyrone got!!" He looks at me shocked, then looks to his friends. "Dis bitch thinks she beat up Tyrone!" He says to them. Just then, Tyrone walks in with a bloody nose, a bruised eye, and a swelled cheek. All on the left side of his face. He looks at me with a "You're gonna get jumped" expression on his face. The group of black kids quickly grab their things and leave.
"You're here to see Mr. Peterson I take it? " The Lady asks. "Yeah." I reply. This is so creepy for me. Being the only one in the room, that's different on so many levels. Then she looks up and the look on her face when she sees me is priceless. She makes this creeped out "O" face as she gasps at my presence. "H-he will see you s-shortly." Then she sees Tyrone. "And what are you here for?" She asks as he approaches the counter, standing next to me. "I got into a fight." He tells her. "Name." "Tyrone sweets." Tyrone looks at me with a very angry expression. "Was it with Marie?" She asks him. "Y-yeah." He says in a deep voice. I smile at him sarcastically. The lady then pushes a button on a small speaker. "There are three kids here to see you Mr. Peterson." She says into it. She let's go of the button. "Send them in." I hear him respond. "You three can go in now." She tells us. Great I think to myself. I'm so getting suspended.
We walk into his office, and sit in the three chair in front of his desk. I sit in the left chair, Chris sits in the middle and Tyrone sits in the last chair. "Marie? Didn't I just send you to class?" He asks me. "Yeah, but." I say looking in Tyrone's direction. "You guys got into a fight?" "Yeah. Chris is just here to make sure I came here when my teacher sent me down." "Well, what caused the fight?" He asks. "Tyrone slapped me, and was gonna hit me again so I pushed him over his desk, and I punched him in the face." "She said I stank!!" He yells with that same deep voice. "Okay, I see it that Marie said you stink so you hit her, and were going to hit her again, then she pounced on you." "Yeah. That's exactly what happened." He replies. "So I think you are both in the wrong here. Marie, you should have kept that to yourself about him stinking, and Tyrone you shouldn't have hit Marie." Right now, every fiber of my body is screaming.
"Were you a witness to this?" Mr. Peterson asks Chris. "Yeah. I saw everything." "What did you see?" "Well I saw exactly what you described." Even though we have only been here for about 5 minutes it feels like it's been an hour. "One thing I wanna know." Tyrone starts up. "Why are you a frickin pony?" He asks me. "Hey I got a question too. Why can't you fight. Cause I hope you know, soon everybody is gonna find out the toughest kid in school got his butt kicked by the pony." He gets up out of his chair and stomps over to me, with his fists balled up and a face that says "I'm gonna beat your ass so hard!!" But from earlier he doesn't scare me. "Sit back down Tyrone!" Mr. P says. "Yeah. Sit down." I say gesturing to his chair. "Both of you stop!! Because neither of you are choosing to work with me here, I have no choice but to suspend you both. I'm calling your parents to come pick you up, and Chris you can go back to class." Great. I'm officially suspended.
Struggles and a wierd dream
Mr. Peterson them grabbed the phone and punched in a few numbers, and he phone rang three times before being answered. Chris gathered her things and waved at me before leaving. Tyrone looks at me still with vengance in his eyes. "Hi, This is Principle Peterson, and I'm calling on behalf of your daughter Marie Sanderson." I hear Mr. Peter say into the phone. I hang my head in shame cause dad is gonna be so pissed. I see my red hair drape over my face, as I look down. Why did this have to happen to me? What did I do to deserve this? I can barely hear my fathers voice on the other end. I think he was trying to explain what happened to me. He sounded pretty upset and worried, but what I'm hearing right now is nothing compared to what I will be getting when he picks me up. "I'm so dead." I whisper to myself. "I'm so very dead.
"Yes sir, I Know what happened to her, and the reason why I"m calling, is because she had gotten into a physical fight with another student. I have them both here with me in my office, and I'm hoping you could find time to pick her up. She and the other student are showing no sign of willing to work with me here cause they wouldn't stop fighting verbally while here in my office." As he stops, I can hear mumbling coming from my dad. I can't hear a word he is saying but I really want to know. "Okay. I will." I hear Mr. Peter say. "Marie." "Yeah?" I ask looking up at him. "Your father wants to talk to you." Oh no. No no. I can't do this. I can feel myself beginning to hyperventilate. I hate that. whenever I get stresses, I hyperventilate. Luckily, I found a way to stop it before it gets bad. I take a deep breath, then I grab the phone.
"Hey dad." I say nervously. "What happened?!" He asks with an angry tone in his voice. "You were supposed to keep a low profile!" He continues. "I did! There was this assembly just a little bit ago, that everybody had to go to, and Alex pulled my hood down, and everybody saw!" I protest. "Yeah sure." He says not believing me. "UH hello You there?! Why would I disagree to go to school, then be forced to by mom, and when I get there I'm just gonna go Hey look at me!! Look at the monster I am!! Nice logic there dad." I don't see this ending well. At all. "Don't you sass me!" He roars at me. The level of is tone tickles my ear a bit. "I see how it is. Feel sorry for me, then, when I have to defend myself you decide to be a dick to me!! I mean what the heck? What did I do to deserve all this bullshit from you all of a sudden?!" Mr. Peterson glares at me with my tone of voice and profanity.
"Marie!" I chuckle a bit. Whenever he is mad at me he says my name quite loud. "Fuck you dad. Don't bother picking me up. I'll take the bus." I tell him and I hang up the phone. Then I get up and leave. When I walk out side I see it's still raining. I pull my phone out of my hoodie pocket and I check the time. 8:57. Luckily there is a bus that pass this this side of the school at 9:00, and the bus stop is on the other side of the street. I feel the rain drops hit me on the top of my head. I put my hood up as I go to cross the street, and wait for a few cars to pass. I get to the bus stop just as the bus arrives. I pull out my wallet and show the driver my school ID, and I head for the back of the bus. There were only two other people, but they were at the front. I let out a deep sigh, and I can feel myself tearing up. "Why me?" I quietly say to myself. I Lay my head back against the seat, and I happen to fall asleep.
I begin to see myself dreaming, as I sleep. I can control when I wake up and when I don't. It weird. I-I can see that I'm in a small blue room, with a white ceiling. I look around, and I see that I'm in a crib. I look at myself and to my surprise I'm my old human self. But...I'm a baby. Then I notice that I'm crying, and I see my...dad. "Hey. What's the matter?" He says soothingly. You betrayed me I try to say, but it only comes out as "Boo-boo." What? I didn't say boo-boo! "You want your boo-boo?" Dad asks me. He looks different. He has a very small affro, instead of a comb-over. He walks be over to this little table, and picks up a nookie off a little cloth, and puts it in my mouth. "Is that better?" He asks. Then all of a sudden, his face went from sweet to panic and scared. I see myself growing, and he drops me. I look over myself and see, I'm a pony again. I feel myself hit the ground, and I'm jolted awake.
I notice I'm lying on my stomach on the cold metal floor. I get up, and the whole left side of the bus is caving in, when I see a garbage truck is causing it. Instantly I grab hold of a metal bar to keep myself up. I watch as the glass shatters all over the floor, and the metal bends out of shape. I hear the sound of the tires screeching on the pavement, and he sound of crushing metal. The bus is pushed to the side of the road, and into the ditch. The bus tips over onto it's right side, and I fall against the seats, and back onto the floor. My head bangs against one of the bars, and I am knocked unconscious.
When I wake up, my vision is a blur, and there are siren lights flashing red and blue. I can hear the faint sound of the sirens, and a large ringing in my ears. I'm lying on my stomach again, and I can feel the cold rain fall on me through the broken windows. I look up, and I see the back of the bus is on fire. I'm facing the front, but I can see the orange light flickering. I see a firefighter enter the bus from the rear door. He grabs me by the arms, or when they were arms, but he doesn't know it. He hoists me over his shoulder, and pulls us both out of the wreckage. I watch as two more firefighters go in to get the other passengers. We get about ten feet away from the bus and the garbage truck, when the bus explodes. The force of the blast sends us flying forward. The firefighter looses his grip on me, and I'm flung through the air. I land on my back on the cold wet grass, and I see the cloud of black smoke rise out of the rear of the bus and I fall unconscious again.
All I can see is black. I hear noises, and shuffling around me. I'm too weak to move. I need to wake up. I need to see what's going on. Where am I even? "I think it's waking up!" I hear a voice say. It was muffled though. "Marie? Marie?" I hear another voice say, and it sounds very familiar. Slowly my eyes begin to open, and I see my father standing over me. The light blinds me, so I have to squint to see. I look around and, it looks like I'm in a green hospital room. "Marie?" Dad says again. I sit up against the back of the bed to get out of the brightness of the light. "w-where are we?" I ask. Immediately dad hugs me. "You're okay!" Why am I in the hospital? Why does he sound so worried? Why can't I remember anything? I know who I am, and what I am...or what I was. But how I got here I have no idea. I remember an explosion, but that's it. Is that how I got here? I sit there doing/saying nothing, but just trying to recall what happened.
"What happened?" I ask weakly. I rub my aching forehead with a hand, or when it was a hand. I hear a sniffle come from dad as he begins to cry on my shoulder. I look at the doctor who stares in astonishment that he has a talking freak of nature in his room. I notice I'm not wearing any clothing, but only a hospital gown that have strings that tie at the back. I see my right wing is extended out and rapped in bandages, same with my right foreleg, and my waist. Each with a big bloodstain on them. The doctor walks over to me. "You're very lucky to be alive." He says. "Why?" I ask. I look down to my dad still hugging me. "You were in a crash involving a bus and a garbage truck." He tells me. "If that firefighter hadn't of gotten you when he did, you would have been part of the explosion. As a matter of fact, you are the only one who survived." I gasp at the fact that I'm the only one who lived. It makes me angry too. I don't want to live my life like this. My dad lets go of me. "I'm sorry." "It's okay dad."
"That firefighter who was able to save you said he is coming to visit. He said it was quite shocking when he..." He cuts off before finishing. "I know. You must have been shocked to seeing what a monstrosity I am." I look down at the blankets that cover me. "What time is it?" I ask. He looks at a watch on his right wrist. "It's 9:24pm" he says. Shit I've been out for about 1o hours!! "Wait. did you say you were...human?" He asks giving me a puzzled look. "Yeah. This whole thing is ruining me already." Then a nurse wearing all white enters the room. "There is a man here who wants to see...Marie." She says disgustingly to the doctor while looking at me, then leaves, and a 6ft tall muscular white man, in a blat tee walks in. * takes a chair by the door, and pulls it next to the bed and sits. "Hey." He says twiddling his thumbs. "Hey." I reply. His voice is a little deep, and hoarse.
"So...am I really the only survivor?" I ask nervously. "Yeah." He says. He sounds very upset. "You okay?" I ask. "Not really. Right after I had gotten you out, my only two brothers went in to get the others, but then the bus blew up and...they died too." I look at my father who has his face in his hands. I can tell he isn't faring to well either. "Sorry to hear that." "There's rumors all over the news about you. I just wasn't ready to tell anybody exactly what I saw. So far it's just a crash involving a bus and a garbage truck, and one of the bus passengers wasn't...human. They don't know it's you. they just the the general idea of an un-human creature on the bus." "Already?" I ask. "Well it's been about nine hours since the crash, and it was quite a big thing." He looks at me with worry in his eye. I can see it. "Hey can you give me my sweater? It's right there on the counter next to you." I ask cause that's where I had left my phone. "Sure." He says tossing it to me. It lands on my lap with a thud.
The thud tells me it's there so I grab out out of my sweater pocket. I turn it on, and there's a notification showing I have 6 texts. One is from...Mr. Peterson? How did he get my number? I look at the text. It says: I decided not to suspend you since this is the first time you have gotten into a fight, and I know you are a very good student. I hope everything goes okay with you and your dad. Sincerely, Mr. Peterson. The other texts are from my friends basically asking if I was on that bus. which, I was. I turn the phone off and set it on my sweater. I look at him again, and he seems to be watching me. "Sorry about your wing." He tells me. "Why?" "When the bus exploded we weren't very far, and I had you over my shoulder, and I lost me grip on you, and you fell really hard on your right side." He shrugs a bit. "Oh. It no big deal. I dont know if I could even fly, but even if I could, I wouldn't cause I'm kinda scared of heights." I smile to show that I mean it's fine.
"I would love to stay and chat more, but I have work in an hour. Oh, and by the way, My name is Craig." He tells me getting up and heading for the door, and leaves. I look at my dad again who has fallen asleep on his chair. This time I realize that mom isn't here. She doesn't even care if her fist daughter just about died?! What a cunt. I look tot he doctor who is just sitting there looking at me. "So what's all wrong with me?" I ask him a bit quickly. "Well so far you have two broken ribs, a fractured right wing, a sprained shoulder muscle, and a minor concussion. But don't worry. You'll make a full recovery." "Okay. So what now?" I ask. My mind is a blur of thoughts that sound like when an old T.V has those black and white lines going across the screen. "You have a nice rest." He tells me. "Your father is welcome to stay and he is asleep already, and I suggest you get some sleep too. You'll be released tomorrow." He says shutting off the light and leaving the room. I lay on my side now, and I shut my eyes.
I Had that dream again. I don't understand why, because I never have had the same dream twice or had it continue in a seperate dream. I'm on the floor, and my dad is backed against the wall looking like he just committed a murder. I pull the pacifier out of my mouth, and I get up. He moves along the wall to the door, and rushes out of the room without saying a word, or making a peep. I walk out of the room ,and I come into a huge black room. I watch him run around a corner, but I don't follow him. "What si going on here?" I ask myself. I look to my right as a light flickers on, but there is nothing there. Then a red figure with red hair walks out into the light. To be honest, this is really creeping me out. A red stallion with white wavy hair, and green eyes. Yeah you can guess what it looks like. I've had enough. I attempt to wake myself up, but it doesn't work. Why? I take a step closer out of curiosity, as he looks up in my direction since he's on all fours, and I'm not.
He walks up to me, standing about three feet away. "Marie?" Is that you?" He asks. How does he know my name?! I give him a "Wtf?!" face. "H-how do you know my name?" He looks at me like he is sad and happy at the same time. "You mean...you don't remember me?" What the fuck? I get this random ass flipping horse I have NEVER seen in my life suddenly come into this creepy dream, acting like he knows me. I look at him closer. I don't get closer, but you know. I notice He's a unicorn. Way to make things creepier!! "What are you talking about? How do you know who I am?" "It's a long story." He says taking a step closer to me. "How's Joy?" Oh my god. He knows my mom's name too?! I'm so stunned, I can't seem to form words anymore in my head, and it seems as if all the breath in my lungs has gone away. "I miss her." He tells me looking down. I can't take it. I grab him by the neck, and put him up against the black wall. "You have a lot of explaining to do!" I yell.
He blinks, then his horn glows green, and a green glow forms around my fore legs which I'm using to hold him up. He moves my arms off him, and he lands on the ground. I'm surprised I had even lifted him up off the ground. "I bet you can guess where I come from." He tells me. "Well no shit." I reply. "I don't know how I got to your world, but I look like your species, well...when you were your own species." He says. IF this thing doesn't choose his words wisely soon, he is gonna get the beating of his life. "Your father...isn't your father...I am." "No. no. I won't believe it." I say taking a step back. "It's true. I fell in love with your mother, and...we had you. I told her after you were born that we can't see each other anymore, and I told her not to tell you about me. Or anyone." I don't know what is going on but I'm freaked out of my mind. "I felt bad cause I knew this would happen to you at some point in your life." "I-I don't...understand."
I take another step away from him. "I'm still able to use magic and stuff even as a human, so this is how I came into your dream. You will only see me like this in your dreams too." I sit down, and put my face in my arms/forelegs, whatever. He puts a hoof on my shoulder. "I know this must be sudden for you, but to show that it's true, you will see me soon." I don't know what to think. Then I realize that she must have told dad to tell me he is my actual father, so that means he has been lying to me all my life, and mom too. I can't hold it in. I burst out in tears. "I'm sorry." He says, then hugs me. I don't do anything, cause I'm too shocked to even move. "God. My life has taken a turn for the worse." I say, my voice shaky from crying. "W-will I ever change back?" I ask. "No." He replies. "This can make your life worse or better. Only you can decide that." He let's go of me. "Hush now. It's time to wake up." He says before turning around and walking away.
Instantly, my eyes open, and I shoot up into a sitting position on the bed. I get up too fast cause the right side of my chest begins to throb from the two broken ribs. I look to my dad who is still sleeping in the chair, if he is my dad. Great. now because of this dream, I have so much more going on in my mind. My phone is still on my lap, and I grab it and turn it on. Four Snapchat messeges. I open Snapchat, and see two of the messeges are videos. The first one is from Alyza. I hold the phone with one hoof, and hold the other down on the video to let it play. "Where are you girl?! You just disappeared after the assembly!" She says then it ends. The other video is from Jacob saying he wishes he could see me right now. Yeah, bullshit. The other two just ask where I've been pretty much. I take a pic of my hospital room, without me in the picture, and I type in the word hospital and put on the time and send it to them. I turn off the phone. "Fuck my life." I tell myself.
I try to get out of the bed, but my whole body is in pain. "Ow!" I yell over the pain in my wing, cause I have to lean over it. I decide to get up the other way instead. Then I wonder about my left wing. I look at it as I extend it out and fold it in a couple times. no pain luckily. Then I walk over to dad, and I shake him awake. He wakes up startled, and gets a a little scared. "Wha-what?" I need to get home. I need to have a talk with mom." I say gathering my clothes. I pull the curtain around the bed, then I walk over to the other side of the room and change. I check the time on my phone. 8:45 am. Gawd I have never gotten up this early, except for school. It took me a while to get my broken wing to fold in without too much pain so I can put my shirt and hoodie on. I put the curtain back, and see dad still sitting there on the chair. "Come on dad!" I say grumpily. "Yeah I'm goin, I'm goin." He replies. He gets up, and puts his coat on.
Then the doctor walks in. "Ah, you're up already." He says. "I see you are ready to leave I take it?" He asks. "Yep." I reply putting my backpack on. But I noticed something in the side pocket that wasn't there before. I pul it out and it's a small picture of a man with green eyes, and...white...wavy hair. Just like that unicorn from my dream. "Oh my god." I whisper to myself, putting the picture inside my backpack. "Well you're free to go." He says gesturing his hand to the door. "Thanks." I say heading for the door, with dad right behind me. I walk out into the hallway, and I get so many different looks from so many people, but I just ignore it. "Why are you walking so fast?" My dad says panting, trying to keep up with me. I just simply shrug. We take a right down another hallway, with more faces coming from several people about my presence. Then we go left down another hall towards the foyer. When I am stopped. I notice a hand holding onto my shoulder, and it isn't dad.
I look at the man, and it's the man from...the picture. Dad keeps going. "Be careful out there." He says. "There's a news crew just outside." He let's go of me. "I'm Kevin by the way. Now you better get going Marie. Told you you'd see me soon." He says smiling. I don't even know how to react, cause I'm shocked to the core. He's real!! That means he was telling the truth. I gather myself together, then I grab him by the collar of his shirt. "Come on." I tell him. "What?" HE asks. You're coming with me. I need to know if you're telling me the truth. I let go, and keep walking as he follows. Dad comes back now with worry in his face. "Marie!" He says panting, putting a hand on the wall to hold himself up. "Theres a lot of people out there with cameras and stuff. They know you're here." He says gasping for air. "I know dad. Let's just go get this over with." I say continuing to the foyer. To the right is the morgue, and the entrance to the left.
We go left, and come face to face with flashing lights, and reporters, and cameras, and all that sort of stuff. I cut through them, and right away they notice me. All the chatting and flashing, stops. Then a woman in a long red dress with blonde hair steps in front of me. She breaks the silence. "Hey, are you the mystery being from that explosive bus crash just 24 hours ago? Is it true that you are the only survivor?" She begins. I walk pat her, and she follows. "Yes, and yes." I reply still walking. To be honest I really want her to go away. "What are you exactly, and where did you come from?" She continues. I stop, and look her in the eye. "My name is Marie Sanderson. I am a student at Westview high school, I was human, but somehow became this. I'm a pegasus now, and it's ruining my life in so many ways." I say quickly. "Now leave me be." I say, and fortunetly she does, but then the flashing of pictures being taken starts again.
I walk out of the front door of the hospital, and feel the cool breeze flow though my hair. "Hey, Marie? Who is this?" My possible fake dad asks about my possible real dad. "He's...a friend." I say. "Now can we go home?" "Yeah, sure." He says leading us though the parking lot, and rows of cars, and trucks. Eventually we get to the black Malibu, and I get in the back, and Kevin gets in the front passenger seat, and dad, i he is my dad, drives. It takes him a minutes to get out of the parking lot cause it's so big. Suddenly I see it's not raining, but is very sunny and not a cloud in the sky. So many thoughts flow though my mind, and so many un-answered questions. Nobody says anything. I lean my head against the window like always. Is this just the start of my bad luck? Or is it going to get even worse? I look to both men in the front seat wondering who really is my biological father. I just don't know.
When we get to the house, I rush out of the car, and into the living room. "MOM!" I yell. "Marie is that you?!" She yells from somewhere in the house. "Who else is it?!" I say sarcastically. Then Kevin, and dad walk in. Mom walks out into the living room, and gasps. She runs over to me, and hugs me tight. "You're okay!" She says tearing up a bit. I hug her back for a second, then pull her off me. "We need to talk." I tell her. Then she notices Kevin, ad Kevin looks a bit teary eyed too. Mom instantly hugs him, Then at that moment I knew what Kevin had told me in my dream was true. "Who is this?" My dad, or fake dad now, asks me. "K-Kevin." I say trying my best to keep my cool. Mom lets go of Kevin, and turns to me. "Well, why don't we all sit down cause I have something very important we need to talk about." I say as calm as possible. So we all sit on the living room couches. "So mom, and dad." I start up looking at mom, then to the one who claims to be my real father.
"I think I now know why this...sudden physical change in me happened." I tell them. "Well Whats that?" Mom asks. I sigh. "I realized that you instantly recognized this man." I say gesturing to Kevin. Mom looks at me puzzled. "Kevin told me that you two fell in love and that you two had me, not you and John." I say. John is my fake dad's name. She gasps deeply, then puts her face in her hands. "So that means Kevin is my real father, and John isn't, meaning you two have lied your whole lives to me that John was my real father." Now dad sighs. "Is that true?" I ask. "Yeah it is." I say before any of them have the chance to reply. "Yes...it's true." Dad says. "But what does that have to do with this whole transformation thing you went through?" He asks me. "Well that's where Kevin comes in." I say looking at Kevin.

I fly for the first time, and get a...cutie mark?
Kevin gets up, and walks out in front of us. He sighs, then his body begins to glow green. It glows so bright I can't even see anymore. After a few seconds of being blinded, the light goes away, and where Kevin was standing is the very same unicorn from my dream. Shocked expressions make their way onto my parents faces. Mom gags at the sight. "Would you care to tell them what you told me?" I ask Kevin, or, my...real...father. "I don't know how I got here from my planet, but soon after, I fell in love with her mother, and I knew this was going to happen at some point in her life." He begins. My parents stare in amazement, and confusion at Kevin. "Sadly she had asked me if she is ever going to change back, and I told her no. She won't. After I found out I had gotten Joy pregnant I told her we couldn't see each other anymore, and not to tell anybody about me. I was human at the time. This is my first time being in my regular shape on this planet." He continues.
"I had realized a few years after I left Joy that I would try to be a part of Marie's life. So here I am now trying to make up for that time and be here with my first daughter." He says nervously. "You aren't planning on taking her are you?" John asks Kevin. "No, I just wish to see her on a regular basis. So much anger is boiling up right now cause everything is true that he told me. "You guys talk I-I need to go outside and cool down." I say as calmly as possible. "Why do you need to cool down?" John asks me. "Well maybe it has to do something with the fact you guys have been lying to me, my whole life about John being my actual father!" I snap then go out into the backyard. I take off my sweater, and drop it on the ground, then I sit in the chair. I see my wallet sticking out a bit out of the left pocket. I reach down and take it out, and I look at my school ID. There's my name, age, address, school, phone number, ID number, and a picture of me when I wasn't...a pony.
I tear up a bit because I was actually pretty. most girls say they are ugly, but I know I...WAS. pretty. I can't help it, so I cry a bit. My life has turned upside down, my real father is a unicorn, and now I'm staring at a picture of what I used to look like. I get up, and walk out to the middle of the yard. Then the idea of flying pops up in my head. I do have wings, so why not try it? I'd be the first hu-never mind. I'm not human anymore. I take off my shirt that has a few blood stains on it, and I extend out my wings as far as they can go. My messed up wing doesn't seem to hurt anymore thank goodness. I move my wings in all sorts of ways in an attempt to find out how they work. For the heck of it I try doing a few experimental flaps, and to my surprise I lift off the ground! I land back down on my feet, or hooves I suppose. I try again, and this ime I keep my self in the air. I try to angle myself in different ways to figure out how to turn, to go up/down. You know.
I keep flapping, and I angle myself to go up, and now I'm three feet off the ground!! I'm actually floating!! I lean forward to so straight and it works!! I tilt to the left while still leaning forward, and it makes me turn left. Then I tilt the opposite way making me go right. I'm still a few feet above the ground only, so I decide to go higher. Now I'm about four stories high, and still floating. By now it feels as if my wings started working in their own. I'm really frickin flying!! I fly straight, and I go over my house, then I curve back around to my right. Then I go even higher. I fly past my back yard, and I keep going for a little bit. Now I can feel the wind blowing through my hair. I turn back around going really fast, like about 50 mph. It felt like nothing to go that fast. I was just flapping. For a while I go back and forth going faster each time. Now this time I'm going so fast, the wind stings my eyes, and all of a sudden, all the sound goes away, then BOOM!!
Instantly I slow to a halt, and I search the ground for an explosion, when I notice a colorful ring in the sky. It has all the colors of the rainbow. I look down, and find I'm directly above my house, then, I get pushed by the shockwave. "Okay that's enough flying for today." I tell myself. I begin to descend when I see Betty out in the backyard staring at he colorful ring in amazement. I land next to her, and I fold in my wings. "You-you did it." She mumbles. "YOU MADE A SONIC RAINBOOM!!" She cries out. "Well what's that?" I ask. "You broke the sound barrier!" She squeals. "And I got it on camera too!" She says showing me a small camcorder in her hands. Wait. did she say I broke the sound barrier? Isn't the speed of sound like over 600 mph? I was going that fast?! Wow. Not only did I fly, I broke the fricken sound barrier! I go and get my shirt and I put it back on along with my sweater.
"Let me see that." I say grabbing the camcorder from my little sister. I load the video and press play, and I see myself flying through the air, when the loud boom comes again and the ring of colors is made. I run back inside to show mom. Then my side begins to hurt like a burning feeling right at my hip. I look under my shirt to see the same ring of colors print itself on my side. "What's wrong Marie?" Betty asks. "Well now I have one on my side here like wtf?" She looks at it and gasps. "You got your cutie mark!!" She squeals. I give her a puzzled look. "It means ur best at making sonic rainbooms!!" "Huh?" I just flew for the first time okay how is that possible?" "Exactly! you did it on ur first time." Oh I get it now. I walk out to the living room, to see John, Mom, and Kevin still a unicorn sitting in the couch. "So how'd it go?" John asks. I wave the camcorder in the air. I sit next to da- John, and I show him the video Betty took of me. He stares in astonishment. "So that's what that large boom was." He says. Even though this whole thing sucks, I never thought I'd smile this much through it all.
"Well I best get going." Kevin says turning back to human form. That gets me thinking. Back to human form. I lay back against the couch, and I sigh a deep sigh, as Kevin walks out the front door. I look at myself knowing I'm the offspring of a type of horse, and now I can't turn back to human form. Ever. "Well you guys really did it." I say finally breaking the silence. Dad gets up from the other couch and sits next to me. "I'm sorry Marie." He says blankly. "Now you're sorry. If you were sorry you would have told me you weren't my actual father." I scold. "I know what I did was wrong. I should have told before you found out the hard way. " "Stop trying to suck up to me okay?" If you knew it was wrong, then why did you do it huh? I can't believe this. First i wake up like this, then I'm forced to go to school, then I get involved in a bus crash, then I find out this shit." I get up and storm up the stairs to my room. I collapse on my bed.
I take out my phone. One message. I see the sender is unknown. I open the text, and find it's from Chris. "You okay?" It says. "No." I type in and send it. Then there is a knock on my bedroom door. I get up, and I walk over to the door, and lock it. I flop down back on my bed, as I lay on my left side. "Why me?" I mutter to myself again. The knocking continues. "Marie! Open this door!" He shouts. "Marie!" I tune out the sound of his voice and him knocking on the door. I just lay there in my bed, a useless freak of nature. "Marie, please." He pleads. A tear falls from my right eye, and rolls down my cheek, then drips down onto the blanket. Finally he stops knocking, but I don't hear him walk away. I look out my window to see clouds have now filled the sky. " Look. I'm sorry. I still love you as if I were your father. Please. say something." I can tell by the sound of his voice, he's trying not to cry. My life is over. I was living the dream, which are now just memories.
I some how fall asleep through all this shit, so I guess you could say I'm lucky for that. I don't have any creepy dreams this time thank god, but all I can see is black, and voices that I can't make out what they are saying. After a while of these murmuring voices I'm woken up by a clap of loud thunder. I sit up in an instant, and my head goes dizzy to the sudden movement, and dots fill my vision, as I become drowzy, and lightheaded. It's night-time now. I look at my phone to see what time it is. 9;23pm. Well it's past my bed time so might as well go back to sleep. I lay back down when I see I have two new texts. One from Chris, and the other from Jacob. I open the one from Jacob. It says: "hey. Just wanna check up on you and see how ur doin. I hope things start to go better for you. Love ya. :)" I quickly type a reply. "Things are not fine, and never will be again, and don't ask why, cause I don't want to re-live it again." The text from Chris just says: "Sorry to hear :'("
What did I do to deserve this? All this crap I have to go through. I hate you Kevin. I fucking hate you. I turn off my pone and close my eyes to try and get back to sleep. I just lay there not hoping for tings to get better cause, in under three days it keeps getting worse. I just give up. It feels like it's been an hour now, and I'm still not sleeping. The sound of the rain against the window, and roaring of thunder and lightning prevents me from getting any sleep. I check the time again on my phone to find that it's only been seven minutes. I get up out of my bed, and I walk over to the door. I'm about to open it when I remember my dad might still be standing/sitting there. I look under the door, and see nothing. I unlock it, and exit the room. I walk through the halls, and down the stairs. I see nobody in the living room. I don't hear any voices either. I head to the kitchen, and see a note on the refrigerator. "We went out, but we let you sleep cause you need a lot of rest" It says.
Well they totally just left me hear alone, and never bothered to tell me where they went. I go outside onto the front porch, and The sound of rain smashing against the pavement fills my ears. I walk out to the sidewalk. I look to my left, then to my right and see nobody. No lights are on in any of the other houses, and there are no cars going by. I begin walking Down the block and my red hair gets soaked with rain. I walk straight for a few blocks, then I tun right down another street. I hear people talking, but I can't place where it's coming from. Then out of nowhere a black man with his hair in braids steps in front of me. I immediately recognize him as...Tyrone!! Then two more black guys step to each side of him. God I'm gonna get jumped. Way to make my day worse. He grabs me by the throat with one hand and lifts me up. Then he pulls out a pistol from his waist. He cocks it, and holds it up to my neck. "We can do dis da easy way, or da hard way." God fuck me!!
I want to struggle to get free, but this dude is stronger than anybody else in school, so it won't do any good. The two guys with him pull out a pistol as well, and they aim them at my face. "Go ahead. Shoot me. You'll be doing me a favor." I growl. The two guys step closer to me. "Okay. If that's how you want it." Tyrone says moving the end of the barrel of the gun to my forehead. I feel so happy right now, yet pissed at the same time. Pissed cause I'm gonna die, but happy cause I won't have to do this anymore. Then out of nowhere I kick his balls, causing him to drop his gun, and me. He falls on top of me. I would grab the gun and hold it to his head but I cant ire it if I don't have fingers!! Instead I take his head, and I knee him in the face. I stay behind him so his "Boys" can't shoot me. He goes limp and I toss hi into his friend causing them to fall, loosing their grip on their guns. I punch them both in the face knocking them out. I grab all three of the pistols and run for my life.
I Shove the weapons in my various sweater pockets, and I keep running, hoping they don't catch up. I don't run straight home cause if they see me, then they will know where I live, and I don't want that to happen. That's the last thing I need is a group of black guys bursting into the house guns a blaze. I look behind me several times, and hope to god I don't see them. I run around another couple of blocks in the poring rain, until I run out of breath. I lean against a tree to regain my strength. I take a deep breath, and make my way home. By the time I get to the house I'm soaking wet. I didn't notice the car is back in the driveway, and when I get inside I see my dad With his arms crossed, and his foot tapping on the floor. "Where have you been?" He asks in a stern voice. "I went for a walk." I say walking over to the table, and placing the three guns on it.
"What are those?" He asks. "Guns." I say blankly. "What are you doing with those?!" He shouts. "I got jumped." Tell him remembering being held up by the neck. "Why were you out in the first place in this weather?" "I decided to go for a walk to try and get rid of some stress." He ists down on the couch. "Who was it?" He asks sighing. "I was Tyrone and two of his friends." "I'm disappointed in you." He says not looking at me. "So you don't even care that I had three guns pointed at my face?!" I snap. "How are you still alive? You didn't." He stops. "Hey dad you can't fire a gun without fingers!" I say with a little sass in my voice. "It's late I'm going to bed. I'm tired of his shit." I say storming off to my room on the second floor. "Marie Don't you dare use that tone of voice on me!" He roars. I turn around. "Look I don't even care anymore okay!! I'm done trying!! I should have let them shoot me instead!!" I yell, then I rush into my room.
My name is Marie Sanderson. I'm a Sophomore at Westview High school. I'm just your average girl, living the average life. I have no special talents or skills, or looks or specialties. I'm just...average. I'm taken by the love of my life; Jacob Jackson. Hottest guy in the whole school, and he is all mine!! School is usually a really bad place for most teens, but is like heaven for me. This place has food, which may not be the best, but my home is deprived of the stuff so it's better than nothing. Most teens are intimmedated by who they see just because the3y are a few inches taller. I'm one of the most popular girls in my school, so most people ask me for a selfie with them. When school ends I get to go home to the best family anybody could ask for!! I walk home because I love the warm feeling the warm sun leaves on my back. I have a little spring to my step, so when I pas people I don't know, they look at me in puzzlement as to what the heck I'm doing.When I get home I do my geometry homework, which is actually quite fun. I love numbers. "
Hi mom!" I say glady to my mother as she walks past me going towards the small kitchen. "Hey how was school?" She asks me, when she already knows the answer. "It was fantabulous!!"
I exclaim finishing the last problem of my homework. Time for biology!!. I love biology too, I have always wanted to know how our bodies and the bodies of animals operate. But I don't like it how my teacher gives so much to do.By the time I finish, I only have 15 minutes to do my chores until I have to go to bed. I'm already falling asleep. I can't find the answer to the last three questions so I just put my stuff back in my backpack and I get to my chores. I haven't seen my dad, my brother, or my sister yet today. I wonder where they are. Since I was so tired it took me an hour to do my chores, but now I can finally go to bed!! I walk upstairs, I brush my teeth, I change into pajamas, then I climb into my bed. "Good night Marie!" My mom calls from downstairs. "Good night!" I reply, as I drift to a deep sleep, and very well deserved eight hours of sleep.
Well my weekend was just lame. I kinda actually makes me mad. None of my friends hung out, and my mom must be on her period cause she has been a total biatch. Like seriously, she yelled at me for making my bed slightly wrong!! like, when I folded my blanket it was a tad bit off and she got really pissed about it. Then when I did my sunday chores, which means I have to clean EVERY square inch of the house!! I have to sweep all the wood floors, under the couches, I have to vacuum the rugs, I have to do dishes, clean toilets/showers /tubs, you name it, I clean it.
Saturday was a drag cause once a gain none of my friends hung out, and my little sister made me watch her favorite show with her, and there happened to be an eight hour marathon of it. And her favorite show happens to be "My little pony". Gawd that show is so FLUPPING RETARDED!! who likes that show? Yay!! Talking ponies!! Big flucking whoop!! And I had to survive eight muther-F******* hours of it!!
Sunday was a drag too because I had to clean all day. ugh, this weekend was so horrible!! It felt like it would never end!! But my boyfriend did come over for a while!! He rarely gets the chance to hang out. The thing that sucks is my parents don't know I'm dating him. He is like, the hottest guy in the school, and he belongs to me!! And his name is so dreamy...Jacob Jackson. My friends call him J.J because those are his initials. He has blonde hair like Hunter Hayes which is so hot!!
Well, now it's finally monday and I can go back to school!! Yay!! I hear my alarm go off, and usually I hate the sound, but today it's music to my ears. "Beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep!!" Lucky for me it only beeps ten times, so I don't have to mash in all the buttons till it turns off. I sit up and stretch my arms out, and let out a huge yawn. I can hear the shower in the bathroom going. Probably my older brother Max. You can guess his last name. I bend my shoulders back and push out my stomach. Usually this feels good, but something doesn't feel right.
You may think it's a cramp, or a knot in my muscles, but that's not what it is. I feel to large...things...on each side of my back. I rub my hands up and down my back, but they don't feel like hands either. And on my back I feel...wings. I'm about to panic, but then I assume I'm having one of those very realistic dreams, that go off on crazy directions. Only god knows how many of those dreams I have had. Back to my hands not feeling like hands, I don't feel fingers either. Then I get this random sharp pinching feeling in my neck, and I realize, you don't feel pain in dreams. Now i start to panic. I immediately look into the mirror to my left above my bed, and what I come face to face with almost makes me faint.
