Okay, what just happened?
Hello, my name is Chance. I know, I mean, what are the chances of that happening huh? Sorry, I get punny when I'm nervous, hopefully that phase will pass as I tell you my tale of woe. It all started when I fell asleep in class one day. It was during a pretty boring lecture by Ms. Redd, my Trigonometry teacher. She was saying things about stuff I didn't really care about, so I decided that since it was the last class of the day, might as well catch up on some sleep! I had become something of an insomniac due to one constant recurring nightmare, it always started the same and ended with me dying. I suppose I should tell you what occurred in it this time, so you have an idea of what I was dealing with when I first got here. As always it started with me running through a dense forest at night. Also as always I was being chased, presumably by things on horseback because the telltale rhythm of a gallop could be heard behind me. The things were yelling to each other to find me, the only way I know that they weren't human was how they referred to me as an it and not a he. The scenery, ie. the tree pattern, was different every time, this time it seemed to thin a little as I ran, the voices getting closer with each passing second. I was able to discern that they were female, when the dreams first started they were saying 'let's get it girls' and things like that, and since they sounded the same as those first ones I assumed that they were the same ones. I could see the edge of the forest now, tempting me with freedom of pursuit. As I neared the clearing, the hoof-beats were closing in, then I heard one of the voices yell from maybe... twenty feet away. Pushing myself even harder, I leaped into the clearing, only to find it be near the edge of a pointed cliff. Not thinking, I rand to the edge of the cliff, clinging to the hope that it may not be that far down, but oho was I wrong. Looking down I could not even make out the bottom. I fell to my knees in defeat. This was it, I'm gonna die now! The hoof-beats got closer, and suddenly stopped, then one of the voices spoke to me.
"End of the line, you frickin monster!" she said with a smug tone of voice, as though she had beaten a friend in some game.
"Yeah! What she said!" Said another. This one was annoyingly high-pitched.
"If anything deserves to die, it's you!" Said yet another, gosh how many are there? This one sounded like she was from the south, kinda fitting what she had said. At this remark my terror started to quickly transform into a self-destructive rage, why, out of anything do I deserve to die?
"Your reign of terror has ended, you foul beast!" This one sounded almost British, very high-class. At this point I was unconsciously standing slowly, ending slightly slouched with my arms dangling at my sides
"We've given you multiple chances to prove that you weren't a monster, but this time you blew it! I can't believe that we trusted you! Come on girls, we're ending this!" This one sounded the most angry of them all. Rage filling her soul. After she finished the hoof-beats started again, albeit much slower. I suddenly turned around, only to be hit by a... something. I started to loose my balance, my heel finding air as I stepped back. Tipping backwards, I heard a scream louder then any I've heard before. This, I'm assuming, was the last voice.
"NOOOOO!" This voice cracked a little bit as she screamed, obviously not used to using her voice much, but she was different from the others. She sounded sad, almost anguished by my falling. I turned my body, if only to see whether it was stone or water to greet me and end my miserable life. After falling for who know's how long I saw the bottom. It appeared to be more forest, not stone nor water. I was just able to make out the pine trees when...
"Psssst, Chance, time to wake up! Redd Head is startin' to notice!" I heard Tom, my best friend, whisper in my ear.
My eyes shot open, a small yelp escaping my lips as I did so. Ms. Redd had indeed begun to notice me sleeping form, but since I had moved my head into a position she could see my eyes with I doubt she really cared anymore. Looking up at the clock I noticed that it was only a few minutes until class ended, so I decided to think about my dream. This time I hadn't died! Isn't that something? I was pondering the concept when my train of thought was broken by the bell. Grabbing my bag and stuffing my supplies into it, I walked out of class, down the stairs and into my car as quickly as possible, if only to be alone with my thoughts. I simply sat there, wondering why they always felt so real, and why I could even remember them. During the dream I didn't know that I was dreaming, and yet I remembered them perfectly, and even felt sore after every time I had died. Starting the car and driving the five minutes it took to get home I thought about the concept of lucid dreaming, and how I could be experiencing something similar. I was never able to remember dreams at all until these ones started happening. Upon entering my house I noticed that the lights were all on, even though it was only midday. I thought nothing of it and moved to turn them off, but when I reached for the switch my hand found no purchase. Looking to where my wall should be, I found nothing but cold night sky. Turning around I found that my whole house had vanished, in it's place was the edge of a cliff. The same cliff that was in my dream earlier that day.
"What the..." I asked myself, completely stunned. I barely felt my knees hit the ground as I fell to them, the shock of seeing the cliff that I had just fallen from not an hour before. In my bewilderment however, I didn't notice the hoof-beats coming steadily closer. Not until they were right behind me, that is.
"Ummm, what are you?" said an unfamiliar voice. "I-if you don't mind me asking... that is." She seemed rather timid, like she was scared of me for some reason. I turned around to ask her why she had to ask me that question when instead of a girl, I saw...
"A horse... It's a horse..." I said, my impossible meter rising to dangerous levels never experienced before by any human that lived to tell about it... Unless you count VR game players, but that''s not important. It was an unnatural shade of yellow with an even more impossible pink mane. It's eyes however, were worse. Impossible levels of adorable were stuffed inside of them, along with a pinch of curiosity, and a ton of nervousness.
"I'm not a horse!" Said the horse with a very offended tone of voice.
"Ah... HOLY SHIT TALKING HORSE!!!" I managed to scream before the sheer amount of crazy and impossible caught up with me and suddenly black out. Before I fully under however, I heard an odd noise, one akin to a thick tree branch breaking.
