//-------------------------------------------------------// A Dash of Chaos -by BadWolfGirl88- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Connect the Dots //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue: Connect the Dots The town of Ponyville was sleeping silently. A calm breeze rustled the leaves of the trees and the sound of crickets was a relaxing background noise. Ponies slept soundly in their beds thinking themselves free of worry. None of them noticed the dark clouds gathering over the Everfree forest. The entire town slumbered on completely oblivious to the flashes of lightning and swirling clouds. The swirling clouds, however, did not care whether or not they were noticed. They began to swirl faster and faster and started to form a funnel shape. The tip of the funnel, reaching towards the ground, began to enlarge as it continued its journey to the ground. Within just a few ticks the rapidly spinning clouds had create the well known tornado shape; upside down. The skinny end remained connected to the clouds in the sky where lightning flashed. A glowing purple light appeared in the sky among the stars high of the lightning filled clouds. It expanded spraying sparks and pushing stars out of the way to make room for the opening gateway. A tendril of the same glowing purple matter of the gateway snaked out the brightness and down towards the cloud bank. Lightning leapt up to meet the tendril; the connection exploding bolts of color across the night sky. The tendril withdrew, heading back to the gateway and the lightning returned to its clouds taking with it a glowing purple blob of energy. The instant the blob came in contact with the tip of the funnel cloud it began to travel down the funnel cloud. Down it went, slowly losing its glow as it came closer to the earth. The instant it touched the ground the glowing gateway snapped shut, the spinning funnel cloud pulled back up into the sky, and the clouds dissipated. The Everfree forest's unnatural silence again falls over the area, nothing remaining except for a purple bundle of pony curled up on the forest floor. Her mane was a silvery mass that swirled around her face even in the lack of breeze. She coughed, a spark exploded off the tip of her horn lighting up the forest for a split second. She coughed again and opened her eyes. These were frightening eyes; glowing yellow with a red rim around the large pupil and filled with cunning and evil. She got to her feet slowly, unused to her limbs. Soon though she was steady on her hooves and looking around with interest. A silver aura lit up her horn and a mirror popped into existence in front of her. The mare regarded her reflection, a growing excitement kindling in her belly. Her form was tall and lean, her coat a deep rich purple. On her flank a golden apple gleamed proudly. The mare smiled, baring sharp white teeth. Eyes flashing, she threw her head back and began to laugh. The gnarled tree closest to her suddenly grew flowers shaped like pitchers that tipped forwards and began to pour water. A flock of winged frogs burst out of a nearby pond and circled her head croaking discordantly. The mare stopped laughing as quickly as she had begun and turned her attention towards the sky where a tinge of red heralded the rising of the sun. A slow smile spread over her cruel features as she closed her eyes to appreciate the feeling of being alive. Her mouth opened and she ran a delicate tongue over her lips. "Eris is back."
