Tonight had been a rather hectic night for The Rainbooms. They'd been thrown down a trapdoor, had a little feud between themselves and were now facing off against three Sirens with dark magic beyond compare at this moment. And on top of all that, they were now fighting their own magic; the Magic of Friendship.
The Dazzlings merely floated there, their bodies completely motionless, besides bobbing a little as they let their Hippocampi halves deal what would seem like the final blow to The Rainbooms. They were met with some resistance from Twilight and her friends, but it wasn't enough to stop them now.
Adagio merely batted Twilight's note away with her own ear-splitting screech, shattering the laser of magic and dealing Twilight some pain to her ears. She looked up at Adagio's monstrous form now and looked a quite shocked that such a beast could have resisted her undying power.
The Dazzlings' human sides lurched forward now, their sadistic smiles never fading as their Hippocampi closed in for the killing blow. The three fish-horses combined their screeches into one big, powerful screech with pounded down on all The Rainbooms. This soundwave got all six of the girls to kneel in pain, thinking that it was now cowardice to continue fighting The Dazzlings.
"Sunset Shimmer, we need you!" Twilight said as she reached out a hand to her former enemy, begging for her to join the band and unite their voices for a final counterattack. She knew that with Sunset's added voice, that would be enough to end this debacle once and for all.
Sunset was about to take a step forward until The Dazzlings had their Hippocampi fly downwards, so they were now the same elevation as Twilight and her friends. They let out another ear-splitting symphony of screeches, with voices so powerful that they now threw the Rainbooms and Vinyl Scratch off the hill and leaving all their instruments in a complete wreck.
Once the girls were all out of sight, The Dazzlings' Hippocampi forms took to the skies once more, spiralling each other like majestic dragons. They raised their heads up high and let out one last roar of victory, before returning to the red pendants from whence they had came. After they had disappeared, The Dazzlings' eyes returned to their normal states, meaning they had regained consciousness.
Sunset saw the mess that was the Rainbooms after that last attack. They all had bruises on their arms from the impact of all those broken instruments, no doubt. She saw that all the instruments that the girls had played were now broken in half, snapped in the centre and torn apart.
Vinyl's car, on the other hand was the biggest wreck of all. The impact of all that metal had crushed the innocent DJ in its' wake, leaving nothing more than broken headphones and a trail of blood pouring out of the wreckage. The fires that had spawned from the destroyed fuel tank were also visible, blazing like a fire that signalled their plans to defeat The Dazzlings had literally gone up in flames.
"Oh god..." Sunset said as she could never un-look that image, no matter how many times she blinked or how hard she rubbed her eyes, she knew that this was as true as the sky was blue. The Magic of Friendship had finally been defeated. "No..."
"What a sight..." said a rather sly voice from behind Sunset, causing her to turn around and see her victorious opponents. Adagio, Aria and Sonata were now in front of Sunset, casting her their wicked gaze. "Why do you feel remorse for these weak and feeble ponies, Princess Sunset Shimmer?"
"You..." Sunset said as her fear evaporated quickly into a cesspool of seething rage. She'd never be able to forgive The Dazzlings now, not after all the death and destruction they had now brought. Her angry-looking face now stared the three of them in the eyes with no sign of fading away.
"Don't you finally realize it now?" Aria asked Sunset as she flew over and whispered in her ears "These ponies had been corrupting you all along, making you believe that friendship can overcome everything. Tonight, rather than being angry at all of us, you should be thanking us for releasing you from the shackles of the curse these witches cast upon you!"
"Lies!" Sunset said as she threw herself away form Aria's sinister lips and looked her in the eyes, still surprised that they still had their wings, ears and hair extensions with them. "Twilight and her friends saved me from myself!"
"And we're here to save you from them saving you from yourself," Sonata said, before turning to Adagio to get some validation on whether what she'd just said had made sense or not. "Did I say it right, Adagio?"
"Yes you did, my dear sweet Sonata," Adagio said as the three of them regrouped and watched Sunset standing there, lost for words at this moment. "These ponies made you shed your true self, Sunset Shimmer. We're here to revive that old self of yours and bring you back to pure adoration, as if the Fall Formal never even happened..."
"I don't get it..." Sunset said, starting to show a number of doubts at this moment. She looked over at the weak and lifeless Rainbooms, wondering if their friendship and her reformation had been nothing but a big lie to her. "What do you mean by 'as if it never happened?'."
"With you by our side, it'll be like you still own this pathetic little high school," Adagio said, continuing to try and break through to Sunset's inner darkness. "Sure you'll have some lackeys like before, but we've been proven to be much more competent lackeys than whatever grease monkeys you associated yourself with in the past..."
Sunset contemplated that for a while. She remembered a time of pure serenity, when she could merely look humans in the eyes and watch them submit to her. She remembered all the times she won the Fall Formal crown in the past and she seemed frightened by these memories. The most frightening memory of all though, was what had just transpired. The Dazzlings harming Twilight and her friends, and killing their innocent DJ who played no other part in this battle other than giving the girls a feeble last resort. She suddenly showed all her anger once again once she stopped to look at The Dazzlings once again.
"Never!" She said, her face of anger returning once again.
"Don't get so riled up about this, Sunset," Aria said, trying to show some shred of sympathy for the unicorn-turned-human. "We're only trying to help you..."
"And in doing so, you'll only profit from it!" Sunset said, piecing together their game already happening before they even got the chance to say it themselves. "That's all you've been doing ever since you came to this place, isn't it?! Just sitting back and profiting, whilst others began to fall deeper and deeper down a spiral of self-destruction with this petty Battle of The Bands you talk so much about!"
"Yes, Sunset. That's it... More..." Adagio said, smiling sinisterly as Sunset now became enthralled with nothing but pure rage and hatred. She knew what was going to happen and held her pendant towards her, ready to receive a massive boost of power from her. "Let your whole heart blacken with your hatred for us!"
Sunset didn't even respond verbally to that. She was panting heavily with so much fury boiling inside of her. She hated The Dazzlings with a burning passion and now saw no point in trying to hide it. She could feel nothing but hatred, hatred for Adagio, hatred for Aria, hatred for Sonata and hatred for everyone who had kicked them around during the auditions and the tournament itself. With all these hates growing, Sunset bent her front knee forward, curled her head and arms into fury and threw them in a matter of different directions, letting out a scream of pure fury once her hands were tightly clenched into fists.
A pillar of darkness erupted beneath her feet in perfect sync with her screams of hatred. She despised The Dazzlings now and wanted to end their lives right now on the very spot she stood on. She watched all of the black pillar of darkness become absorbed by The Dazzlings' red pendants and at this point, she didn't even care that they were getting stronger.
Twilight finally got up from her defeated position and saw a rather horrifying sight. She saw the exact same pillar of darkness from the Fall Formal a while back and worried about Sunset. This particular darkness made her into a demon back then and she'd now heard all the scorn that she'd said to The Dazzlings.
She feared now what would happen to her and the rest of the group. Springing to her feet, Twilight ran up to the top of the hill once more and watched as Sunset vented out all of her fury towards The Dazzlings, whilst they just sat back and smiled as all of that darkness flew into their pendants as a violent torrent of pure hatred.
"Sunset! Calm down!" Twilight said, trying to break through to her friend with no avail. The roar of the darkness flying out of Sunset and landing in The Dazzlings' pendants completely cancelled out all other noise, whether it be verbal or from the background. "You're only making things worse!"
That last sentence was enough to get Sunset to stop her hate and show a sudden look of realization as to what had just happened. She'd fallen prey to The Dazzlings' spell as well and had just given them the most delicious meal of fury possible. All of that seething hatred and fury had made them even stronger now.
The Dazzlings smiled as they relished in their undeniable victory. They came to CHS, caused all-out musical warfare and had profited from all of that seething hatred that everyone had vented out over the past couple of days. Their pendants made them sigh in content as they felt Sunset's seething hatred for them make them reach new levels of power, far beyond anything they could have ever hoped to have amassed from anyone else at CHS.
"What have I done?" Sunset said as she now looked at The Dazzlings with nothing more than regret as she finally realized what they'd done to her. They'd pushed her over the tipping point and now they had even more power now, far more powerful than that of the Magic of Friendship.
"I'll tell you what you've done, Sunset Shimmer..." Adagio said as she used all this new magic to create a swirl of black magic, which made a perfect copy of her pendant, right down to the golden strip behind the red gem. "You've just allowed us to create an entire army!"
"Thanks, Sunset!" Sonata said, gloating as the three of them flew back to the stage with a menacing cackle which struck fear in the hearts of both Twilight and Sunset. Once they'd had their laugh, they landed back on the stage to address their loving audience, who cheered once they'd returned to them.
"Students of Canterlot High School! For too long have we waited to strike back at that hellhole known as Equestria!" Adagio said as she now used her voice to brainwash the students even further. "We came to this place to start an all-out battle and now this is the reward we've earned!"
"But don't think that just because we won a Battle of The Bands, that doesn't mean you have to stop loving us!" Aria said, casting a smile as she looked at her two sisters, who readied the duplication spell once again. "We now have the power to allow you to join us, so you too can share in the feeling of being adored by all!"
"We beseech you, wonderful humans of CHS! Take these pendants we now offer you, so you can realize your FULL potential!" Sonata said as the three Sirens made copies of the red gem for every boy and girl standing in the audience looking at them with smiles of their own. "Join The Dazzlings, and become Sirens yourselves!!!"
"Yeah! I'm sick and tired of people pushing us all around!" Flash Sentry said, still enthralled with the spell of the three Sirens as he took his pendant from the air.
"I've always wanted to bend others to my will..." Silver Spoon said as she shed her pearl necklace in exchange for the generous gift offered by The Dazzlings.
"For our glorious leaders!" Trixie and her band members said, securing the pendants around their necks so that everyone could see them clearly.
"Hail The Dazzlings!" Photo Finish and her band said as they all put on their pendants as well, watching them shine once it was comfortably fastened around their nekcs.
"HAIL THE DAZZLINGS!" The rest of the crowd roared out as they all put their pendants on together, their loyalty to the Sirens seeing undying now as they felt their adoration flowing towards them all.
"Now that you're one of us," Adagio said as all the pendants glowed a rather soothing wave of red in front of her and the rest of her fellow Dazzlings. She raised her hand sinisterly with her sisters, signalling a massive change for all the children of CHS. "You're going to BECOME one of us!"
The wave of red lights now became a massive explosion of red energy as all of the humans were cocooned in Siren Magic themselves, transforming into all-powerful Sirens like their new idols, The Dazzlings. They all grew hair extensions and pony ears in the midst of this cavalcade of energy and all emerged from the cocoons with majestic Siren wings, coloured in a variety of different colours.
Twilight's friends and Spike now climbed up the hill as well, watching the disastrous chain of events happening in front of their eyes. They saw all of the students becoming wrapped in the energy of the Sirens and emerging with pony ears, hair extensions and Siren wings.
They saw what their former friends had become, monstrous incarnations of their true selves. They could no longer see their fellow students as friends any more. They only saw them as hundreds upon thousands of backup singers for The Dazzlings, with red pendants draped around their necks.
"Why does this place get absolutely no peace?" Rainbow Dash said as she now cowered at all of the Sirens that used to be the students of Canterlot High School. She saw all of her former sports team members as beasts, all their audience as monsters and nothing else. "What did we ever do to it?
"Well, we did have a little bit of an argument in that cellar back there." Pinkie said, pointing out precisely where The Dazzlings now stood, leading their brand new army.
"So all this is-" Rainbow Dash said before being stopped by Rarity.
"Our fault, Rainbow Dash." She said, letting out a somber look of defeat as they now watched The Dazzlings' new army try out their new wings, hovering off the ground with little effort.
"We all got a little frustrated with all that inner discord back there..." Applejack said, adding on her guilt as well as Rarity's, making the rest of the group feel nothing but hopelessness now. "With all of our petty arguin', we caused this nightmare ta happen right in front of our eyes..."
"It's all our fault, Rainbow Dash. Not yours," Fluttershy said, still remaining surprisingly calm in the wake of such a devastating defeat. "We let our hatred for you get out of hand and now we no longer have the ability to use our musical counter-spell against the Sirens."
"It is all our fault..." Pinkie said as her usual poofy hair deflated, making it seem rather straight and joyless. Rainbow Dash had never seen her friends like this before and now felt undeniable levels of guilt start to show as Pinkie said her last somber words. "We were blindsighted by our rage and it made us fight against what we truly are, friends until the end..."
"Which looks like right now..." Sunset said as she watched all of the Sirens flying up into the night sky, receiving their own brand of limitless power from The Dazzlings' pendants. She watched as they shared Sunset's hate with all of the students of CHS, making their new pendants glow brightly before the former students unfurled their hands in bliss. "I can't believe that this is how the Battle of The Bands is ending..."
Twilight merely looked up at this army, picked up Spike and ran away towards the portal. She had one last plan up her sleeve and she was now running back to Equestria, to ready a Plan B to defeat The Dazzlings and their newfound army of Sirens.
"Twilight?" Sunset now noticed Twilight running towards the portal and decided to follow suit, with her friends close behind her. She could see that Twilight was rather fast and wanted to get away from all this as fast as possible. Sunset thought that she was abandoning her and the rest of her human worlds friends as she finally arrived at the glass tint of the portal.
"Where are you going, Twilight?" Rainbow Dash said as the rest of the group arrived with Twilight at the portal. She wondered what could possibly be running through Twilight's mind at this moment. "You can't just be abandoning us like that?!"
"Girls... I'm sorry, but there's no way we can possibly defeat The Dazzlings now. Not with the state our counter-spell is in..." Twilight said as she put her hand through the portal before pulling it back out again. "You need to get out of here, run and hide from this evil. This world has been lost to us and there's only one thing that can save us now."
"And what's that, Twilight?" Applejack decided to ask, a little relieved with the news that Twilight had a plan but also a bit concerned with the fact that Twilight had to get back to Equestria to put this plan to good use.
"We have to go to war with these demons..." Twilight said, her old tone turning into one of battle. Her face now turned into a more serious one as she threw Spike through the portal, out of harm's way. "I know it's a shock, but it's the only way we can strike back now..."
"Are you crazy, Twilight?!" Sunset said, flabbergasted that Twilight had this idea of war as a back-up plan. "You saw first-hand how powerful those Sirens really are. The next time you see them, you'll be facing down an entire army. For any army anywhere in any world, this is considered suicide!"
"Goodbye, girls..." Twilight said as she walked through the portal relatively quickly, leaving none of them any time to react with their words.
"Twilight!" The Rainbooms all cried out together as they tried to run after her but were met with nothing more that solid glass. The portal had been sealed off once again and Twilight wouldn't be able to come back to fight the Siren army. Their expressions of fear returned once again as they heard a chorus of beating wings right behind them...
"So... That's where my little princess has been hiding," the Siren Flash Sentry said as he pushed the Rainbooms out of the way and gently felt the glass pane of the sealed portal. "Queen Adagio, we've found the portal. The only problem is, it's been sealed off by that arrogant Alicorn."
"Do not worry yourself with this little matter, Flash," She said as she felt her pendant vibrate rather heavily as she felt the portal's power still remaining, even after it had been closed off. "Our combined power is enough to force this door open with little effort."
"What are you going to do with us?" Sunset said as she tried to feebly make another stand against the entire species. She then showed concern once she looked at the portal a second time. "More importantly, what are you going to do with Twilight?"
"We overheard every word that that insipid little brat said. Quite clearly," Aria said, grinning as she could feel a massive amount of Equestrian Magic on the other side of the glass gateway that led to Equestria. "And if it's a war Princess Twilight wants, then it's a war that Princess Twilight will get..."
The Dazzlings sung their chorus once more, getting all of the students to add their voices as well.
To Sunset and the Rainbooms, it sounded like a choir of impending doom had arrived for them all as they saw red entrails travel out of everyone's pendants and onto the portal, making a red vortex to Equestria for The Dazzlings and their army to walk in and out of as they pleased.
"The time has come, my wonderful subjects!" Adagio said as she addressed all her fellow Sirens with a warmonger's voice. "Now we can finally take our revenge and send Equestria on a one-way spiral of ruin!"
Her words were met with all the Sirens throwing their fists up in victory, cheering for their almighty rulers with undying affection and adoration. They wanted to follow them all to the ends of the earth and back, serving them with every fibre of their being.
"To all of Equestria, we impart you with one last message..." Adagio said as she spoke through the portal, presuming that all of the Equestrian cities were listening well to her words. "After all these years of exile, the Sirens are returning. And this time, we'll take your miserable little mudball by force!"
"At arms, my warriors!" Adagio said as the students gained their evil red eyes, similar to what Adagio, Aria and Sonata had had during their song earlier. "Take stances! And... ATTACK!!!"
With that, all of the Sirens charged through the portal, knocking Sunset and the Rainbooms to the wall of CHS with sheer force. They then vanished into the red vortex, which would land them right in the heart of Princess Twilight's new castle. Adagio, Aria and Sonata merely high-fived each other in grand victory as they too disappeared into the portal with their new brethren...
Sunset and the Rainbooms got up from that impact, only to see that all the Sirens had vanished and the red vortex which led to Equestria had gone with them. They all shared looks of worry and fear as they knew that Equestria was going to perish at the hands of The Dazzlings. They all looked up to the sky, feeling sorry for what they had done earlier. All they could do now was wait, wait for all of Equestria to perish, under the new rule of The Dazzlings...
Back in Equestria, Twilight's friends were all gathered around the portal. They'd all been awaiting her return for so long since she'd left. Even though they thought Twilight had everything under control, that didn't stop them for feeling concerned for her. Even Pinkie had a slightly worried face as their gazes never left the portal.
Suddenly, the portal glowed brightly and they saw a purple blur with a green outline fly out of it and land violently on the castle's floors. Upon closer examination, it was Spike. He looked a little woozy as he finally got up onto his dragon feet. He then found himself surrounded by the rest of Twilight's friends, the friends she'd made in Equestria.
"Spike?" Applejack asked as she wrapped her hoof around his shoulders and gave him a sense of comfort. "What are ya doin' back here without Twilight?"
"Is she alright? Please tell me she's alright. FOR THE SAKE OF CAKE, TELL ME TWILIGHT'S ALRIGHT!" Pinkie begged Spike to give her the status on the situation as she violently shook him for answers.
"Pinkie, I'd like it if you took your hooves off poor little Spikey-Wikey here," Rarity said, using her words combined with her magic to make Pinkie relinquish Spike from her grasp. "The poor dear looks like he's been to Tartarus and back just to help her."
"Girls... I've got some explaining to do..." He said, sighing in defeat as he gazed at the portal he'd just come through, seeing Twilight hadn't returned. "Twilight's plan to defeat the Sirens has-"
Suddenly, they saw the portal glow once again. Twilight was coming home at last. They shared looks of glee as they saw the purple alicorn return to Equestria, transitioning from two legs back to her usual four hooves. She quickly walked towards the rest of her friends, who now surrounded her with glee.
"So, how'd it go?" Rainbow Dash asked, not even bothering to look at Twilight's rather serious face. She could see that Twilight had returned to Equestria and that was all that had mattered to her at this moment. "Did you give those evil Sirens a beatdown?"
"Girls..." Twilight started, using her magic to give herself some breathing room from them all. She knew they'd be looking at her with states of confusion at this moment, but she wouldn't even bother to acknowledge them. She then looked back at the portal and removed the book from its' perch, severing the portal's power and sealing it for another twenty-four moons. "We need to get to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, NOW."
"What's wrong, Twilight?" Fluttershy asked, wondering why Twilight was cutting off the portal's power. She thought that she'd won and was cutting off the portal, in case that the Sirens she thought that Twilight defeated got any funny ideas. "Why aren't you happy to see us?"
"Listen to me, everypony," Twilight began, never ceasing to show her true emotions. Fury mixed with sadness with a little dash of responsibility. "Adagio, Aria and Sonata have won. They've defeated the Magic of Friendship and now have an entire army of Sirens, fighting alongside them as we speak."
"You don't mean they-" Rarity started, but was then quickly stopped.
"They have. The Sirens have won," Twilight said as she gathered the girls at an open area away from the portal, so that they could all listen closely to her. "Using their dark powers they amassed and with all the fury that Sunset Shimmer gave them, they turned all of the students of Canterlot High School into monstrous Sirens just like them. We need to tell the princesses right now, or we could be looking at something far, FAR worse then the Tirek Crisis."
"Hold on a second, Twilight," Rainbow Dash said, hoping that Twilight would listen further. She was a little surprised that Twilight had allowed her to speak for a second, but shrugged it off and decided to talk. "Sure they might have won, but you sealed the portal so they can't come back. Now I'm not one for egghead stuff, but I'm pretty sure that you've already prevented them from trying to conquer Equestria by doing that."
Suddenly, The Dazzlings' chorus could be heard coming from the portal. It was rather peaceful-sounding at first, but then all the other students of CHS sang along. It became a choir of Sirens, combining their powers to force the portal back open.
"Oh no..." Twilight said with horror as she looked at streaks of red lightning coming from the glass tint of the portal, hitting multiple walls and some books on the nearby shelves. The red streaks of lightning stopped shortly after they had begun, but now the portal changed from a glass mirror into a red vortex with lightning striking at random intervals.
"The time has come, my wonderful subjects!" A familiar voice broke through the portal, landing on the ears of the Mane 6 like a judge delivering their almighty sentence to whomever was unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end. "Now we can finally take our revenge and send Equestria on a one-way spiral of ruin!"
The girls and Spike all heard cheers follow after that little remark from the voice on the other side of the portal. They all shared looks of fear and worry as they now knew that those were cheers of warfare, not celebration. Twilight was about to use her horn, when she heard the voice speak once again.
"To all those of Equestria, we impart you with one last message..." The voice said, as entrails of red energy flew out of the portal, smashed through one of the nearby mirrors and spread out to all the corners of Equestria. "After all these years of exile, the Sirens are returning. And this time, we'll take your miserable little mudball by force!"
"We need to get out of here." Twilight said as she activated her horn as she heard Adagio giving her new warriors the go-ahead to attack Equestria. Her horn glowed violently as all of her pony friends and Spike huddled up close to her, so they'd travel with her to Celestia and Luna.
"ATTACK!" Adagio's voice said, just as Twilight and her friends vanished in an explosion of pink energy. Once the magic had dissipated, the portal glowed even more violently and broke free of its' horseshoe frame. Once it was a pure vortex, it expanded to allow large groups of Sirens to enter Equestria together.
In the streets of Ponyville, ponies of all varieties were going about their normal day's work. Earth Ponies were tending to the land, Pegasi were managing the weather and Unicorns were practising their talents in ways that would benefit themselves and all the ponies around them.
They suddenly felt a massive amount of seismic activity around their hooves and were immediately whipped into a panic. They'd all known from past experiences that such earthquakes such as this usually meant that something terrible was about to happen.
They looked at Twilight's castle, hoping that she'd be able to fix all this. However, their hopes were dashed once they saw the castle itself vibrate. After a few seconds of shaking, a number of creatures alien to Equestria emerged from the castle.
The ponies all looked in horror as they saw what looked like evil monster copies of themselves, along with some strangers they'd never even heard of before. All of these creatures that looked down on them had pony ears, hair extensions, wings coming out of their backs and evil glowing red eyes.
They all swarmed down on the ponies of Ponyville, getting them to instantly run and try to hide in fear. Using their newfound wings, they soared majestically over the town with extraordinary amounts of speed and mobility. Whenever they saw ponies trying to flee town and find somewhere else to live, they let out deafening screeches to pacify the fleeing ponies.
Once the ponies knew that escape was impossible, they were surrounded by the winged creatures. They saw them looking at their 'pony halves' and charged forward at them. All the Siren copies of the ponies held up their claws and left brutal cut marks on the ponies, causing them to bleed in agony.
There were some Sirens who even found their younger selves as mere fillies and colts, but that didn't stop them from leaving their mark on them. When they saw their filly sides they not only cut them, but they also threw them violently against the solid walls of the houses of Ponyville.
From the skies, there were four Sirens in particular who watched all this carnage happen. There was Adagio, who watched as all the ponies of Ponyville fell to her newfound army. Aria, who grew a devilish smile as she looked at all the blood dripping from the ponies and saw all their black bruises. Flash Sentry, the new commander of the lesser Sirens. And Sonata, who was too distracted with brushing her lengthy hair to notice all the chaos descending among Ponyville.
"Commander Flash," One of the lesser Sirens flew up to Flash and saluted him by pushing his pendant with his right hand, cloaking it in the red energy. He saw that Flash did the same thing and the two of them grabbed each other's right hands with such power. The power from their pendants quickly enhanced itself before fading away quickly. Once it had, the lesser Siren was allowed to speak. "General Diamond reports victory with all ponies subdued and ready for imprisonment. You may now give us our next command."
"Chain them up by their necks and bring them with us to Canterlot Castle at once," Flash said, his words rather savage sounding behind his usually calm voice. "Queen Adagio requested that the execution of all the fakers be done in front of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna herself.
"Yes sir!" He said before being stopped by Flash's hand again.
"One more thing, Lieutenant Green," Flash said, letting his new queen caress him tenderly. "Divide the army into separate squads, have them capture anyone else who happens to be a copycat. And if those meddlesome little equines even try fighting back, you have execute authority."
"Yes sir!" He said once again before finally being able to gather up groups of his fellow Sirens so that they could spread their reach to the other regions of Equestria and take out any evidence that they have pony halves.
"What about us?" Flash turned to look at The Dazzlings once again. He hadn't been given any orders other than to serve the three of them and command his lesser Sirens. "Now that we know the other ponies of Equestria will fall, where do our priorities lie, Your Majesty?"
"Simple, Flash," Adagio said as she turned to face Canterlot Castle, where Aria and Sonata were looking at now. "We come to places to conquer, not just to spread our wonderful songs. So together we can strike down Celestia and Luna, kill anyone who tries to fight and rule over this world with iron fists."
"Are you sure about that?" Flash decided to ask, worried that he might get some backlash from Adagio for questioning her desires. "I mean, you are facing off against three almighty Alicorns and Twilight's real friends as well. We are simply four Sirens, how can we possibly win?"
"Not four of us..." Adagio said as she put her hands together and whistled down towards the town. This whistle got a large group of Sirens to fly away from their current targets and aid Adagio and her sisters in their endeavour. "Forty of us..."
In the throne room of Canterlot Castle, Celestia was lounging on her gilded throne quite leisurely. She was quite content with the feeling that nothing was going wrong for once and that her people were all flourishing with happiness and peace. She was with her sister, Luna who was looking out at the wonderful world they both ruled over.
They suddenly saw Twilight teleport into the middle of the room with all of her friends with her. Celestia and Luna looked quite surprised that Twilight had come to them with no warning or greeting. Celestia then looked at Twilight with a rather worried look when she saw Twilight's expressions of panic showing quite clearly.
"Twilight. Why do you look so panicked?" Celestia decided to ask once Twilight had calmed down to get a good look at her. "You're usually never this worried whenever you come to visit me."
"Well, Your Highness... We've got a massive crisis on our hands," Twilight said, taking in a deep breath as she regained her composure and began to tell Celestia about The Dazzlings. She would tell them of the Battle of The Bands, their Hippocampi halves and even how they defeated her and her human friends. "Do you remember how Starswirl The Bearded sent three Sirens into another world, never to surface again?"
"Yes, I was rather a young age when he went out to confront those three devilish singers," Celestia began to remember her childhood memories of her, Luna and Starswirl. "Why do you ask, Twilight?"
"Well, it turns out the world he sent the Sirens to was the exact same world I went to with the portal's power," Twilight said, continuing her explanation. "They spent years amassing the negative emotions of the species there before they came to CHS to kick up some rage there. They turned a musical showcase into a Battle of The Bands, causing everyone to start showing nothing but hatred and fury for each other. They even managed to push my friends in the other world over the edge as well, making them expel Equestrian Magic for themselves to acquire. Using this new power, The Dazzlings overwhelmed us and transformed the audience we were performing for into Sirens just like them."
Celestia and Luna merely stood there, looks of pure fear and astonishment showing on their faces. Of all the worlds Starswirl could have sent them to, Celestia and Luna were appalled that he sent them to the Human World. They could now see the Sirens with their newfound bodies, turning the poor innocent humans into more followers for their insidious cause.
"What's our plan of action, Celestia?" Twilight asked, hoping that her mentor and ruler would have an answer to this new threat that loomed over all the ponies of Equestria.
"Well, I believe that your new power might turn the tides," Celestia reminded herself that by Twilight opening the box with the six locks, her most faithful student had now gained a massive power upgrade in Equestria. "But in case your new strength isn't enough to fend off The Dazzlings, we shall provide our own strength to aid you."
"How long do you think we have before the Sirens come for us?" Luna decided to ask Twilight, since she was the one who brought this matter to their attention and hoped she knew how long they had to prepare for the assault on Canterlot. "If you know so much about how The Dazzlings conquered this other world, then surely you know when they'll strike Canterlot..."
"Don't worry, Luna. I'm sure that we have plenty of ti-"
Celestia was suddenly tackled by the Siren Flash Sentry, thrown to the floor in surprise as her body was weighed down by his physical stature. She tried firing her magic to knock him off, but he merely grabbed onto her surprisingly long neck and held her up in place.
Luna tried to fight back now, charging up a bolt of her own magic to strike this monstrous copy of Flash. She was surprised when she noticed Flash turn around and roar a single note of music, knocking her bolt right back at her and sending her flying against the walls of the throne room once it had impacted with her.
"Come on, girls. We can do thi-" Twilight was suddenly held down by a Siren with purple hair with a white stripe in it. She could see that her attacker had a diamond tiara on each of her ears and the signature red pendant of The Dazzlings hanging from her neck. Twilight tried to speak further, but she was now locked in a chokehold as well.
"Twilight!" The girls all said together, before being held down by more of the humans-turned-Siren from CHS. They were all held by their wings, horns and hooves so that they couldn't fight back. Spike was merely picked up by another one of the sirens and thrown out of the window they had all come in from, enabling him to scream as he took the longest fall he'd ever taken in his life.
"Spike!" Twilight said through her choking noises as she watched Spike fall, presumably to his doom. She'd known Spike for years on end and now thought that this was where his life finally ended. She shed a tear and immediately stopped trying to fight back.
Suddenly, Celestia's royal guards came in from the front door. They were clad in battle armour and carried royal swords, spears, lances and a wide variety of other weaponry to fight against the Sirens. They too were quickly brushed away when the Sirens all looked at them and roared the same note Flash had uttered to deal with Luna.
When Flash and the other Sirens were done choking their pony victims long enough, they threw them all into one big pile and uttered The Dazzlings' chorus together. They were quite grateful to The Dazzlings for teaching them such a powerful sequence of notes with many different properties. Using this power, they sealed the two Alicorn rulers and the Mane 6 in a powerful orb of Siren Magic, unable to escape or even speak.
The Sirens then began to sing a mighty crescendo, their voices growing louder and louder as their pitches scaled as well. Once their voices were loud and powerful enough, all of the stained glass windows that surrounded the throne room shattered, revealing nothing more than a doomed Equestria for all of their captives to look at.
"Her majesty, Adagio Dazzle. And her faithful sisters, Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk." Flash announced to his fellow Sirens and his captive ponies as he watched his new queen and her associates fly into the throne room, with devilish smiles on their faces as they started examining the throne room.
"Well, well, well..." Adagio said as she now approached the orb, which now held the eight ponies hostage. "If it isn't The Rainbooms and their pathetic little high-school principals..."
Twilight tried to speak, but the orb had completely cancelled out any words she tried to speak to the Sirens. She looked quite angry as she now banged on the orb with her free hooves, still making no outside noise from any of it.
"What's the matter, Twilight? Cat got your tongue?" Adagio said as she used a red tendril of Siren Magic to link herself with the orb, so that she could hear everything that Twilight and her friends had to say to her. "Is that better?"
"I said you'll never get your grubby little hands on Equestria, you vile witch!" Twilight said, repeating what she'd said once Adagio could hear her perfectly. "As long as the Magic of Friendship exists in this world, we will defeat you!"
"Funny, I imagine that's what your pathetic human world friends thought before they perished at our hands," Adagio said as she rubbed the orb seductively, getting more hatred to flow from Twilight and her friends. "Oh well, they learned the hard way that some things are far too good to be true."
"Cut this orb down so I can come out and rip you limb from limb, you vile temptress!" Twilight said, looking quite furious now as she repeatedly pounded on the orb with her hooves over and over again. Her actions were met with a massive electric shock from the orb's energy, causing her to cease what she was doing and look at The Dazzlings with pained looks.
"Well I would, but then you'd try and run away from your problems," Adagio said, making sure that Twilight had no chance of escaping with her friends so that they could fight back. "And then I wouldn't be able to use you for your oh-so-powerful Magic of Friendship, Princess Twilight..."
"But then again..." She said, clicking her fingers. Once she'd clicked her fingers, the orb disappeared, leaving the eight ponies in a complete wreck. "I know that you trying to escape is futile, as I know have an army which will neutralize you in mere seconds. And they'll all do it under Flash's orders..."
"Flash?" Twilight looked over at the Siren that used to be her boyfriend from another world. She saw him looking at her with an unquenchable fury. Sure, Flash had been a jerk to her during the Battle of The Bands, but now he was commanding Adagio's new army. Twilight looked at him with a sad look as she mainly looked at his longer hair, pony ears and Siren wings.
"Did you for once think that the Magic of Friendship would be enough to win the Battle of The Bands, Twilight?" He said, trying to break her down even more so. He now showed nothing but disdain for his former girlfriend from Equestria as he walked closer to her. "It takes more than some weak song coupled with Equestrian Magic to stop Sirens who TAKE Equestrian Magic. You were doomed from the start, you stupid mule!"
"Flash, how could you-" Twilight was then picked up by Flash and was held up by the tail and smashed around like an oversized flyswatter.
"Don't even speak to me, you idiotic... Infantile... Useless wreck of an Alicorn!" He said as he smashed Twilight's face in perfect sync with all of his insults, adding salt to the wound as he now saw Twilight covered in bruises unlike any other. "We were never friends to begin with and we never will be! My allegiance is to Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk. Not to some prissy pony princess who decides to play human!"
Twilight now showed nothing but tears at this moment. She knew that the Flash Sentry she used to know and love had now been lost forever to these witches. She remembered all of her good memories with Flash before he grabbed her by the neck, held her body down and stood on her head, leaving her horn visible.
"You're no Alicorn, Princess Twilight," Flash said as his pendant gave him a mighty axe with Siren gems decorating the handle. He made sure he was out of harm's way, brought the axe up high and said his last words to Twilight before he brought it down. "You're merely another gnat for us to swat!"
The axe came down with brutal speed, making a distinctive clanging noise once it had hit the ground. They all heard Twilight screaming in agony and now looked at what Flash had done to her.
Twilight lay on her side, crying in pure pain once Flash had stepped aside for all to see. Her emotions combined with all of her physical pain made her into a blubbering wreck of what she once was. But the most frightening part of all, was the fact that her horn was no longer on her forehead.
When everyone looked, they saw that Flash had cut Twilight's regal horn completely off, severing her from any chance she had of using her alicorn magic to fight back against the Siren species. All the ponies looked quite sad as they watched Twilight cry with unthinkable sorrow surfacing.
"For you, Your Majesty," Flash said as he picked the broken horn up and tossed it to Adagio, who caught it and smiled once she'd gotten a good grip on it. "A present, to celebrate your victory not only in the Battle of The Bands, but in conquering Equestria as well."
"Aww... it's such a generous gift, Flash," she said as she felt how tender the now powerless alicorn horn was. She could feel all the power that used to have been Twilight's with every gentle stroke of the delicate point. "Tonight, you shall become the regal prince of the Siren Kingdom."
"Thank you, Your Majesty." He said, taking a humble bow as he picked the still crying Twilight back up and threw her with the rest of her pony friends.
"Now then... I think we need to make things a little more cozier for Celestia's abnegation..." Adagio said as she let a few Sirens fly outside and hold their pendants up high for the changes she would be making. "I'm thinking a little more... Redder skies are in order for our grand coronation."
The Sirens merely flew out into the skies now, singing The Dazzlings' chorus once again. This time, the clear blue skies were replaced with a complete veil of blood-red storm clouds. This blotted out Celestia's majestic sun completely and covered the world around them all in a sunless darkness.
Once the world was covered in her dark red skies, Adagio and her sisters flew up into the air with their brethren. Their pendants combined together and cast a number of red frames of magic, which magically communicated with the other Equestrian cities, who were already submitting to the Sirens.
"To all the leaders of Equestria, your time is at an end," She said as she showed them the injured, crippled and weak mess of ponies that were the Mane 6, Celestia and Luna. "As you can all see, your precious rulers have fallen to our power and the Magic of Friendship has been defeated at long last."
"We now control this pathetic little dirtball, you maggots!" Aria said, taunting the leaders of each city with her sadistic attitude. "Should you be considering any kind of uprising, that's considered letting our mighty army of Sirens kill you on the spot with brute force and zero mercy."
"You should probably all give up while you still have the chance," Sonata said before noticing that all of the equine leaders of each city had been held hostage by all of the Sirens that roamed Equestria. "Oops, guess I spoke too soon, didn't I?"
"For now, you should only know our names as they shall be all that you answer to from this point on." Adagio said as she motioned her sisters to perform a little roll call.
"The excellent, exuberant and all around exceptional, Aria Blaze!" said Aria, posing in victory as she tried to get each of the Equestrian leaders to show hatred.
"The superior, sensational and sinisterly sly, Sonata Dusk!" Sonata said, making more of those evil poses for the leaders to watch in horror.
"And I am your leader. The one and only. The audacious, all-powerful and almighty leader of the Sirens... Adagio Dazzle!" She said, casting her sinister smile on all of the ponies of the world before she and the rest of The Dazzlings shared in an evil laugh that would ring through the ears of all that succambe to their new rule.
Author's Note
By the way, I'm still not sure they were actually Hippocampi when Starswirl sealed them away. Sure the book says its' that way, but I'm completely certain that that's not the case at all. Sirens are classified as mermaids in true Greek mythology and that Hippocampi were used to pull Poseidon's chariot. I find it a bit odd how Poseidon's fish-horses could possibly sing well, or at all for that matter.
