Hoofsteps could be heard approaching her bedroom. They were very firm, very steady, always keeping the same rhythm, never breaking pace. The steps ceased, changing to a very sturdy knocking at her door, signaling it was time for the evening routine. She slowly blinked her eyes open, getting up, and adjusting her hooving. A guard opened the bedroom doors, a tray bearing a teapot, teacup, boat of sugar and a spoon, levitating next to him, all of it overtaken by the same white glow his grey horn possessed. "Good evening to you, Princess Luna." The guard spoke, placing the tray down on her nightstand, and opening his mouth once more to speak. "This evening, we have a sweet zap apple tea, accompanied by the finest sugar our gardeners could grow and make." He explained. "I shall leave you to your duties, your highness." He dipped his head, stepping out of the room, as the Moon Princess bowed her own in thanks as he exited, closing the door for him with her magic.
She yawned as her mane and tail slowly set back into their magical flowing motion, standing up, stretching her legs. She slowly stepped over to the tray, and lifted up the pot with her magic, pouring herself a cup. The rainbow color made her smile. She had never seen such an oddly colored tea before--it had looked naturally sweetened, sugar or no sugar. She levitated the cup and lifted it to her muzzle, taking a small sip. She froze in place for a moment, and her heart skipped a beat. She zipped through the entire cup like it was nothing, and poured herself a second, swallowing that two times faster than she did the first. It was amazing tea. She smiled, happily trotting to her daily-wear. The tea had put her in quite a good mood. She stepped into her sparkly lavender-blue hoof slippers, taking a few steps in place in them to adjust to the feel like she had done every other evening. She then levitated her breastplate onto herself, along with her tiara. She took a moment to admire herself in the mirror. "It feels nice to get to feel like a Canterlot socialite every once in a while..." She said quietly to herself, taking a few poses, smiling all the while.
Now, for the best part, The Princess of the Night thought to herself, opening the doors to her balcony with a hoof. "...raising the moon!" She finished her thought, stepping out onto the gold-railed balcony. Her shadow clearly showed against the white floor of the balcony, and she looked at it for a moment, before quickly directing her glace back to the night sky. She smiled, admiring the sunless sky. Luna then took a step forward, raising a hoof as her horn began emitting a dull blue light. Over time, it gradually moved more out of control, growing larger, until it was a large dull blue spark consuming her horn. The top of the moon just then became visible over the horizon, and her lips curled into a smile. She admired the beauty of it's shape, especially the wonderous alignment of the craters. She kept her eyes on it the whole way, until it was in it's place in the night sky. It was then time for the stars. He horn shone the most brilliant of whites, and the aura shot up into the sky, exploding like a firework. The individual flares multiplied, as did the clones. This process repeated over and over until the night sky was perfectly dotted with stars.
The moon princess basked in the glory of her work, the gleam in her eyes suddenly fading as the stars started to vanish. She tried reforming them, but it was no use, as they had vanished two times as fast as the last batch. She gasped. "Oh no... This does not bode well..." He slowly backed up, before turning and galloping off to her sister's bedroom. She knew the seriousness of this situation. She pushed Celestia's bedroom doors open with her hooves. She was already up, looking out the window. She had probably sensed the failure of Luna's magic, and had gotten up to observe the event through her own window. The sun princess turned to her sister, and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before approaching her. "Am I correct to assume that you still bear the knowledge as to why this is happening?" The white alicorn questioned, standing tall and poised.
"I do, sister."
"Good. Then we must gather Twilight and her friend's at once, before it is too late, and the constellations rebel--breaking free of their prisons." The sun princess spoke.
"Yes, indeed, sister. For, if that happens, we will not have the power to defend ourselves. Not even with the great power of friendship to defend us." Luna added, spreading her wings. "I shall take the necessary precautions in order to assure that they will have a harder time escaping. I will have to be gone until we can get her back. Therefore, you will have to once again take control of the day and night." Her sister nodded in compliance.
"We shall do what we must... I wish you the best of luck, dear sister." She bowed her head, lowering her horn down one side, then the other side of Luna's head. Luna nodded pushed opening the balcony doors and looking back for a moment, as to say goodbye, looking rather unsure. Celestia nodded in reassurance, allowing Luna to thrust her wings down, and fly off, vanishing into the night sky. Celestia watched her sister fly off, and spread her own wings as to fly after her, but folded them back up, shaking her head to herself, and walking back into bed, closing the doors behind herself with her magic.
