When Friendship Becomes Something More: a Hearth's Warming Eve story

Nero had a life all to his own, working at the Canterlot news station, living in a fair sized house, but he never actually had someone he could call his own and they could could call him theirs. Of course there's been a relationship here or there, but nothing really certain to last forever. His higher-ups have always been fairly cool if not for them being rude sometimes, but he's always been okay. However, there's always been some hole somewhere deep that he just could never fill. Not with all of the friends or money or jokes could fill that unknown void deeply set inside him. He needed somepony to hold, somepony to love that would care about him, and little to his knowledge he'd find that pony that very Hearth's Warming Eve.
