Who's Ready for Meatloaf?

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

"Hi, Anon!" Twilight says happily. You walk up the front steps of her house.
She's kind of dressed up, but nothing too fancy.
"Hey, Twilight."
"Are you ready for Meatloaf?!" she says excitedly.
You nod. "You got ketchup, right?"
"Yeah! We got the fancy kind!"
"Is that him?!" you hear from inside the house.
"Yeah, Mom..." Twilight replies, looking a bit uncomfortable. Velvet appears from behind Twilight.
She's wearing a pink dress. Easily the most dressed up out of the three of you.
Really fancy earrings too. She has wide hips.
You realize you're oogling her.
Shit, eye contact, Anon. "Hey there, Anon! Its good to see you again!"
"Feelings mutual." you say, a smile on your face.
"Well come on in, get out from the cold."
You walk into the house, a delicious aroma hits your nose.
You don't mind meat loaf at all...especially when it smells this good.
"I really hope you like my cooking, Anon...I've been slaving away all day."
"I'm sure I'll like it."
"And Twilight helped make it!" You look to Twilight and she nods.
"Well...just a little."
They lead you into the dining room and you pull out a seat.
The dining room is really nice, the long table stretching through most of the room, a white table cloth on top of it.
The dishes are arranged nicely.
Jesus, you didn't think it would be presented so formally.
"So hows school going for you, Anon?" Velvet asks.
"Fine...Its a lot of work, but I get by."
"You know, Twilight is pretty smart! She could probably teach you if you're having trouble with anything."
Twilight is blushing, looking towards the floor. Yeah...you're pretty sure Velvet is trying to push you and her together.
Pretty old fashioned, but you can roll with it.
"I wouldn't want to bother her." you say, looking at her with a grin on your face.
"It wouldn't bother me!" she blurts out. She realizes her outburst and her face goes even pinker.
Too cute.
"She won't mind, Anon! Now give me a second, and let me get the food."
Velvet leaves for the kitchen, leaving you and Twilight alone...
Heart...pounding...
As usual, you try to calm your breathing in tense situations like this...while trying to not make it obvious for Twilight that you're nervous.
Don't let the awkward silence set in. "Heh, maybe I should have dressed fancy. This seems really formal."
"Well, I didn't think my Mom would make it so fancy...does it make you feel uncomfortable?"
"No, no, its fine...It just caught me off guard is all. I feel like I under dressed."
She shakes her head dismissively.
"No, you're not. Trust me, neither of us care if you dressed fancy."
"She definitely dressed for the occasion."
"Yeah...I wasn't expecting that eith-"
"Food!" Velvet interjects. You keep your balled up hands in your lap.
She sets the meatloaf down at the center of the table. It looks amazing.
With her other hand, she puts down Mashed Potatoes next to it.
Awesome.
"Hand me your plate, Anon?"
You glance down and look at the fancy ceramic plate beneath you. Picking it up, you hand it to her. She plops a large server of mashed potatoes onto the plate, then the end piece of the meatloaf. The end piece is your favorite.
As she's messing around with the plate you can't help but glance down once or twice.
Hips.
Hips.
Hips.
Fuck, Anon...SHE'S non the one you should be staring at.
You glance back down to where your plate was sitting, staring at the table.
"Here you go!"She hands it back to you.
You set it in front of yourself and gape at the lack of ketchup.
Call yourself ungrateful, but you really like ketchup on meatloa-
"Take this too!" she says, happily.
Velvet hands you a bottle of fancy ketchup. Beautiful. Both her and the ketchup. You put some ketchup on your meatloaf.
Setting the bottle down, you wait patiently for Twilight and Velvet to get their food before you begin.Twilight notices.
"You don't have to wait for us, Anon!" You shake your head.
"I'd prefer to wait."
"Such a gentleman!" Velvet proclaims enthusiastically.
You smile at her, but remain modest.
"Just trying to be polite."
"Its hard to offend us, Anon...We're really laid back." Velvet says, sitting down with her food.
Her and Twilight start eating, you follow suit.
You break off your first bite of meatloaf and scoop up mashed potatoes with it. It hits your taste buds...
Fucking delicious.
"How do you like it, Anon?"
You look towards Velvet.
"Its amazing." you say, swallowing before you speak.
You glance over at Twilight who is happily eating her food.
Continuing to eat your food, Velvet tries starting up conversation.
"So are you two dating yet?"
Sharp inhale + Food in mouth = You start coughing on your food.
Velvet gets up and comes around and starts patting your back. "Anon, are you alright?!" Twilight asks, choking only mildly on her food.
Your coughing subsides and you take a drink of water. Velvet rubbing your back makes hormones shoot through your body.
Remain calm and do not attain boner.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for..."
"Its fine, Velvet."
"I was just poking a bit of fun. I apologize."
"Don't worry about it. I'm alright."
With a sigh, she returns to her seat.
Fuck, this is bad. You try to quell the awkwardness with humor.
"But to answer your question, I asked her out but she said no."
She gasps.
Velvet looks to Twilight with a surprised look on her face.
"Wh-Wha?! M-Mom he didn't ask me that!" she stammers.
Velvet realizes she's been had and looks back at you, glaring jokingly.
You smile at her. You take that chance to look into her beautiful blue eyes. They're amazing.
"Haha, you got me, Anon..."
"Now we're even."
She giggles at you and Twilight has a relieved look on her face. Okay, you're smoothing things out well. Both of them go back to eating as they were before.
You glance at Velvet.
She glances at you.
You glance away.
You glance over again.
She glances at you.
You glance away again.
Holy fuck, stop.
You both finish eating your meals.
You try to stop glancing at her.
"So if you had to rate it out of 10, what would it be, Anon?"
"12."
"That good, huh? Well we're not done yet."
"Oh?"
Velvet looks at Twilight. She nods at her Mom.
"She made dinner, but I made dessert!" Twilight proclaims triumphantly.
Velvet looks to you, "You think you can handle it?"
You scoff. "I can eat a lot more than that." you say proudly.
She looks back to Twilight and nods. Twilight leaves to go get her dish.
....Leaving you and Velvet alone.
Velvet looks at you and smiles. "You know, you're supposed to be checking out Twilight, not me."
W-What?
WHAT!
"W-W-What?" you stammer.
"I see you looking. I'm not stupid, Anon!" Your face goes red. She's got a pleasant smile on her face, not angry at all.
"W-Well you see, I-"
"Dessert!" Twilight announces. She walks back into the dining room and sets down some sort of frozen dish in a casserole dish.
Twilight looks at you and Velvet, feeling a similar uncomfortable air around you two.
"Uhh...You okay, Anon?"
You look up at Twilight. "O-Oh...Yeah, I'm fine."
She raises her eyebrow, unconvinced. "Mom, what did you do to him?"
"Huh? Oh, I was just telling him to check you out instead of me!"
Twilight looks at you. Then back at her Mom. "Mom..." she says, gritting her teeth.
"Mom, you said you wouldn't do this!" she shouts.
Velvet looks hurt. "Twilight I was ju-"
"Joking. Right, like ALWAYS, Mom..." Twilight looks at you. She turns around and stomps off.
"I'm sorry, Anon." she says, leaving and going up the stairs.
Uh oh... You look at Velvet. She has her hand over her face.
"Velvet, I'm sorry I just..."
"Its not your fault, Anon...I'll go talk to her."
She gets up and follows Twilight, leaving you in the dining room alone. After several minutes, Velvet comes out without Twilight. "She's pretty angry at me. I don't think she's going to come back out."
That's not good... "I feel like this is my fault..."
"Its not, Anon...I know you weren't actually checking me out."
"Heh, Right..." you say looking towards the ground. Your terrible lying couldn't be any more evident.
"Anon," she says, sitting across from you, "Do you like my Daughter?"
You look up and make eye contact with her. "Yeah...she's great."
"You know what I mean." she retorts.
"Well..."
She has a serious expression on her face.
"I haven't known her for that long."
"Well are you interested in her?"
"Well, not particularly, no...she's not the kind of girl that I usually go for."
She looks disheartened. "She was just trying to impress you, Anon...And I went and messed it up."
"You didn't mess it up."
"But I did...I should have just kept my big mouth shut."
"You were just joking around. Don't kick yourself so much over it."
She's silent, lamenting over her decision. You sigh. "I'll go talk to her."
"Would you?"
"Yeah. Just give me a bit."
You stand up from the table and walk around the table.
"Anon." Velvet says.
"Hmm?"
"If you don't like Twilight...maybe you shouldn't."
"What do you mean?"
"Please don't get too attached to her if you don't. You're a good person, but...I don't want her to get hurt."
You look at her, sorrowful for the way she feels.
"Her Dad's never around and she lacks a good male presence in her life. So when you came along I figured I'd try to get you two together. She never meets guys who like the same things she does. You two just seem so good for one another."
"Well, I just don't feel that way about her, I guess."
"Still the same as last time?"
"What do you mean?"
"Another girl in the picture?"
"Well, not particularly. She's out of the picture right now."
"Then whats holding you back? Just give Twilight a chance. She really likes you...and I feel bad for not working things out with her father."
You feel really bad. You really do. She just wants her daughter to be happy.
You sigh. "I'll go talk to her."
She smiles at you. "Thank you, Anon."
Ugh. This is a mess. You walk back up the familiar hallway and up to Twilight's bedroom.
Knock Knock Knock
"Go away." she mumbles.
"Its me, Twilight."
She's silent for a moment. She creaks the door open. "Hi."
"....Hi."
"Can I come in?"
"Are you mad?"
"What? No."
She looks really upset.
"Twilight..."
"Don't, Anon. I know you weren't checking out my mom or anything. Its just that her joking when my friends are around gets really annoying sometimes..."
She opens her door all the way and you step through. "Anon?"
"Yeah?"
"Did you try my dessert?"
"Ah...No, I didn't get the chance."
"Oh..."
"But I'll definitely try it before I leave."
She's silent, not responding.
"Look, come back downstairs. Your mom is sorry she took her joke too far."
"I just feel so immature now..."
"Well don't. I know you just got frustrated. I don't think any less of you."
she smiles a little bit.
"Thanks."
"Come on."
You gesture her out of her room and she follows behind you.You take her back to the dining room. Velvet stands up as you both walk in.
"Twilight, I'm sor-"
"Its okay, Mom...I feel better now."
Velvet smiles at you. As Twilight approaches her desert, Velvet mouths "Thank you" to you silently. You give her a thumb up as Twilight turns around and hands you a plate.
"Here you go, Anon."
You take what you assume to be frozen cake from her. You take the fork she offers you and break off a piece of it.Its great.
"How do you like it?" she asks.
You sit down at the table. "Its amazing, Twilight. Thank you."
She tries to offer her Mom some. "Here you go, Mom."
"No thanks."
"You sure?"
"Mhm."
Velvet still looks a little bit distressed.Velvet pulls out her phone and begins tapping at it.
Well shit...now you need to talk to her...
