//-------------------------------------------------------// The mark of pox -by Storm Rival- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Jack of all trades. //-------------------------------------------------------// Jack of all trades. Here I am, a simple bard, sharing music with others, letting them know stories of old equestria. Though some tales I tell, they are actually my own. Cheerful stories are but a gutter dream in my life as too much tragedy has beseeched its limelight. Though, no matter what happens I do my best to bring my best to whatever I do, wether it be to bring smiles frowns or just do something I otherwise wouldn't. I make a trek through Ponyville and find that ponies are already about and quite cheery thanks to Pinkie pie. I waltz into town with not much at all in tow and begin using my magic to play a song that has described my past jobs. I've had quite a weird yet sad childhood, which I'm sure I'll save for last, though I've had an even more interesting life. While most others usually have one talent, I've had many, I've been called the jack of all trades and that would practically describe me. Though most of the time I did what I didn't like. One of the first I'd had was a construction job, making majority of the walls that ponies see in their homes. Being Equestria is such a huge place I hardly know where everything goes, though one order I especially remember being the hardest on my team. I'd woken up at about five in the morning just to get to my job by six. All the walls to this building were nothing like any other, and the pay to get it done in orderly and proper fashion was high. Everypony at my job prepared their sight for the walls, though, I could tell that my team was just the littlest bit behind all the rest. I'd asked why and was simply told that rushing things will only make other teams more likely to get it right. I sighed and soldered on, I could tell that  I should have just not questioned a thing given that I'd been here far longer than any other job I had previously, a job I'd preferred to keep. Prepare the bed with oil, make it to standards and start pouring concrete; That usually was my day starting at differing times and going until some time late at night, until the process started again the next day. I'm thankful that I had weekends off. Though one thing I wish didn't happen was the pox changing my cutie mark yet again. I am perhaps the only pony that had ever gotten his cutie mark through the vile cutie pox but, I knew back then that it had some plan for me. I still have yet to figure it out, but for now, I stick to what I know best; Story telling and Music. Anyhow, My mark had yet again changed. I felt that as I was vibrating the concrete to this very unusual house that all my muscles from the job failed, all the skills I'd had backfired and I'd hit myself with the huge tube like thing I blacked out only to find myself at a hospital with both my boss and Doctors saying that I can't work there ever again. though before I was completely gone I asked, "Where is this very unusual wall going?" "Its going to a new business called… 'Sugar cube corner'" he'd said right after I got discharged. sugar cube corner eh, well I knew at some point I'd have to visit it. As I continued I noticed I drew a small crowd not as noticeable as Pinkie's, the one and only party pony's as I'd eventually came to know her. I continued on with a different song, this one chaotic. The next job I'd had after the concrete job before, was just as chaotic. Foal sitting. I had gotten letters day by day after my mark had changed again due to that accursed pox, and just about every day I'd be foal sitting many little fillies. This one day, though I had to sit two of the most bratty foals ever. I don't remember names, though I do remember that they were both earth ponies, one was grey while the other was pink, though not quite Pinkie Pie's pink. They were both from rich families; they liked what I'd do for them to care for them, though when they got more active and talked a little I could tell I didn't have the sophisticated stuff rich ponies have. Slowly, with every visit afterwords, they became more and more uninterested in what I did to entertain them. Then the cutie swap happened; I can't explain it. its as though I suddenly have a change of interest one so huge in fact that I just simply forget to do what the other talent had me do, which was how I injured myself that concrete job. I'd lost all interest in watching those little foals while I was supposed to be on duty and brought out a sketch book. All there was about the house were permanent markers, so I used them. While I made perhaps a very crude drawing, I could tell that those two foals had fun drawing on themselves. Though when their parents came home, they were less than pleased at my service and fired me on spot. This has been what has happened to me for a while now. Even those with some experience with these things are still baffled at how this happens, after all a cutie mark is a representation of what your true talent is and what your personality is going to be like. Though, I change with the times and tides doesn't matter when or where the pox will always be there to either ruin or make my day. Day… oh shoot I need to meet her, Today of all days too...
