"Gods cannot be killed, but they can still bleed."
Canterlot Laboratory, home to many odd and strange creatures and current employment place for many scientists, was located on the far side of Canterlot, away from Canterlot's booming activity. An earth pony trots towards a small square by the door and takes the card around his neck and swipes it. A clicking sound can be heard as the blue earth pony made his way into the large room. He walked the halls, noticing that no one was at their desks, eventually he found his and logged onto his computer.
"Hello, Mr. Test! You have one new message from Princess Celestia." The computer spoke to him.
"Princess Celestia, huh?" Mr. Test spoke to no one in particular.
He began to grow very curious and navigated to his email account and found the message labeled, "For Mr. Test". He clicked it and began to read,
"Mr. Test, you probably have a lot of questions regarding the lab at the moment, but there is something very important I needed you to check up on. Go to room D306 and send me the brain activity log, message me back once you're aware of your task."
This wasn't the first time that Mr. Test had received an email from the ruler herself, but the fact that she also knew of the absences as well startled him. He read through the message one last time before replying to her, "I'm on it, I'll have the brain activity log sent back to you after I visit the holding cell."
He sat and waited for her to reply, which she did a few seconds after Mr. Test's message sent, "Good luck, I'll be waiting."
Mr. Test got up from his desk and began to search for which cell Celestia was referring to, which took some time, but eventually he came across a door labeled "D306". He instantly began to get a sense of dread as he noticed the sign on the door which read, "WARNING: Must be kept under high security. Proceed with caution."
Shaking the feeling away, he grabbed his card and swiped it against the door, allowing him entrance into the room. The room was pitch black, but luckily there was a light switch nearby and he flicked it. He began to study the humanoid figure in the holding cell, its mouth covered with a breathing tube and arms and legs held in place with metal clamps. It wore a hoodie which was completely black along with its pants and tennis shoes.
Mr. Test shuddered at the sight of the strange being and began to slowly approach the computers by the cell. The creatures brain waves were normal. 'Princess Celestia will be pleased' He thought to himself with a small smile. He plugged a memory chip into the computer and the brain waves log began to immediately transfer to the chip. After it finished, Mr. Test grabbed his chip and began to walk towards the door until he heard a few blips coming from the computer.
Startled, he turned around and noticed that the creature's brain waves began to increase at a fast rate. "What the hell?" Mr. Test said aloud. He began typing on the computer, sending medications through the breathing tube, but nothing was helping. He looked up at the creature's cell and instantly noticed that it was missing.
Dr. Test feared for his life. He began to walk backwards towards the door at a fast pace, until he tripped over a pair of tennis shoes pointing towards the cell. Now laying on his back, he looked at the shoes in horror, as they turned towards his direction, facing the door. Mr. Test began slowly crawling on his back, still watching the shoes. Then, the creature's pants appeared, hovering over the creature's shoes, as if someone was standing there without a torso or head. The blue stallion immediately jumped up and ran towards the door. He was too late as the door closed all by itself.
He began to bang on the door, screaming, "HELP!" to anyone on the outside. He looked back at the clothes and noticed the creature's hoodie had joined the pants. The stallion watched on in horror, as the creatures face and hands appeared in their respective places. The creature's eyes were closed, as they had been in the cell, but they slowly opened, revealing the creature's pupilless glowing eyes and smiling face. Mr. Test began sobbing on the door, praying that something would happen and it would open.
The creature turned towards it's cell and began speaking, but it's mouth wasn't moving, "Finally free..." it trailed off, staring at the cell that had held him for so many years. It turned back towards the blue stallion and picked him up with it's demonic powers and levitated Mr. Test towards him.
"Please just let me go!" The stallion begged the creature.
The creature's voice began to fill the room, "Why should I let you go when it was you who kept me down here in the first place!" it began to shake in rage and a visible cut began to form around Mr. Test's neck. Blood began to squirt out of his neck as he began to gargle, choking on his own blood. The creature began to chuckle coldly as he levitated the dead stallion into the holding cell that it was once in. The tanks water and bubbles began to turn to a sickly red, as the creature looked in satisfaction at the stallion's slit throat.
"I honestly wish there were more of you, so I could personally show you what I'm capable of.ยจ
The creature began laughing, as it vanished, leaving behind the fading echo of its pleasure.
Author's Note
This is my first story, so please tell me what you think. :)
To say she was surprised was an understatement. Twilight Sparkle was reading her favorite book in bed when she heard the first knock, but she dismissed the sound as her number one assistant was downstairs.
She continued to read her book, until she heard a knock at her window.
Now, her room was a story or two off the ground, only leaving pegasus ponies able to reach such heights, without the use of a ladder, of course. Her first guess was Rainbow Dash, as she had done this quite often.
She sighed and placed her bookmark in its respective spot on the page she left off on and pushed the blanket off of her with her hind legs and trotted towards the window.
"Rainbow Dash, how many times do I have to tell you to use the door-", she began but couldn't find the words to speak as she stared into the pupilless eyes of what she thought was a monkey.
How he was capable of levitation without wings are magic, she didn't know. Her first thought was to close the blinds and hide underneath her blanket until morning, but she just felt compelled to stare at the creature. She could read all of the painful emotions inside this being straight through its eyes.
The creature clearly had enough and got to the point of why he was here.
"You must be Miss Sparkle..." he trailed off, a creepy grin adorning his features.
His mouth didn't move when he spoke, telepathy she thought. Something seemed familiar about this creature, but she couldn't place her hoof on it. She nodded slowly at him.
"My, oh my, how you've grown!" he feigned happiness, and his grin spread wider, revealing sharp, predatory like teeth.
Twilight was startled at this point. Had this thing been around since she was a filly? How did it know her?
"I can't say we've met before..." she trails off while looking at the ground, the creature's gaze penetrating her soul.
The creature's eyes began to glow even brighter, and in a split second, it was gone. Twilight turns around and begins to trot back to her, when she sees the creature standing directly in front of her, towering over her. She jumps back, clearly startled by the intrusion.
"W-what is it that you want from me?" she asks, afraid.
"All I want is for you to remember." he replies in an eerily calm tone.
"If you don't remember, I'll show you." His eyes begin to glow again, and Twilight stares at him in pure confusion. She suddenly begins to feel light headed and sits down on the floor, in an attempt to cause the room to stop spinning. She then begins to feel faint, and her vision slowly begins to black out.
Her vision then returns, and she realizes that she isn't in the safety of her home anymore. Instead, she's on what appears to be a hill overlooking a battlefield.
She sees her now missing brother, Shining Armor, leading troops into battle.
She looks a bit further than that, and sees that one side of the sky is completely dark, and also sees demonic creatures walking behind the lead of the creature in her room.
Shining Armor's face was that of pure determination as he screamed the word everyone was waiting for, "CHAAARGE!"
The creature lifted it's right fist into the air, and with that, both sides charged at each other. Shining impaled multiple demons with one spear, was therefore left unarmed. He begins to search the ground for anything he could use, and freezes once he realized what he's found. A pair of tennis shoes.
Then the pants appeared, then the hoodie. Shining Armor feels himself being magically lifted by his throat into the air, and is staring directly into the eyes of the creature.
"You foolish pony, when will you realize that you cannot defeat me?" he asks calmly, in the middle of the battlefield, as if there was nothing going on.
"I'll never surrender to you, Red..." Shining spoke, on the verge of unconsciousness.
"You will suffer for your arrogance." Red spoke in an icy tone.
Shining Armor began to feel an extremely painful grip around his neck, and his vision and breathing began to fade as his head was torn off, completely. Red used his powers to throw it into the group of demons, and began laughing as they began devouring it.
"SHINING!" Twilight screamed from the hill at the top of her lungs. She looked on in denial, surely this had to be some kind of joke, right?
Her vision began to fade again, and when it was clear again, she found that she was in her room, which was empty, besides a skull with the name, "Shining Armor", etched into it.
Twilight began to sob, and all of her emotions hit her at once with the force of a locomotive train. She began to feel angry at this creature, she barely knew who it was, but she wanted him dead. With all of the emotions swarming her head, she found enough strength to mumble one word.
"Red..."
