Before you read I just want to make sure you know that I have been trying to get rid of grammatical errors as much as I can, but I haven't really had anyone to proofread the whole thing for me yet

Luna's Admirer

PART 1

It was just past sunset and when it happened, it took her by surprise. The princess was just hoping for a calm night, but her hopes were soon stomped out.

“PRINCESS LUNA, PRINCESS LUNA!" yelled a guard sprinting into the throne room.

"Yes?" answered Luna.

"A message came for you ma'am," said the guard, winded from his long sprint.

Luna's eyes darkened, "If this is another hate letter, so help me..." she took the letter from the guard's mouth with a great sense of apathy.

Luna opened the letter with the magical elegance expected of any princess. The letter smelled of fresh grass and pine needles. This made Luna's face loosen to a soft wide eyed and curious look. "Well if this is a hate letter then they have surely caught me off guard with such sweet aromas," she said unfolding the paper with her magic.

She began reading,

-My Dearest Luna,

I am writing this letter to you because of one thing... I LOVE THE NIGHT.-

Luna had to read it a couple times as she thought her eyes were decieving her. And every time her mouth dropped a little lower. Finally she caught herself and regained her composure to read further.

-The smells, The sights... all the things I love most… it all happens at night. I'm certain you get these kinds of letters all the time what with your being a princess and all but... I truly love your work. If only I could show you Equestria from where I live. Your sister's day does not do it justice.

"GUARDS! GET ME THIS PONY’S ADDRESS!" Luna yelled, as she couldn't help but smile.

The next morning while Luna and Celestia were eating breakfast in the royal dining hall, Luna simply could not sit still

As she wondered what had gotten into her little sister she asked, "Luna, are you alright?”

"Oh yes dear sister I couldn't be better," Luna told her, unable to hold back her excitement. It wasn't every night she got good letters from her subjects.

"Oh really now? And what's got you so excited? You are normally half asleep at this hour." Celestia replied with a little bit of humor.

"I got a letter from somepony... and it... it wasn't a letter of hatred like all of my mail since I’ve been back..." Luna clarified, "I’ve read it many times, because... well... it makes me feel wanted," she said feeling a little embarrassed, and a little sad after explaining

"Oh, really? Well i'm glad that you finally found somepony that appreciates you Luna, and if I may ask, did this somepony give you a name?" Celestia asked, both shocked and excited by her sister’s good news.

"Yes the letter was written by somepony named Nox Draconis" Luna replied with a very jolly voice.

"hmmm," said Celestia trying to remember a pony with such a name "it sounds familiar... if i recall correctly, that pony is a stallion that loves to camp out in the woods... but he recently moved into a little shack down the mountain from Canterlot"

Luna's eyes widened "STALLION? and THAT CLOSE? Sorry dear sister, but I must prepare for the upcoming night, I shall see you at sunset like usual, but for now I must try and get some sleep" Luna said as she bounded out of her chair and dashed out the door to her chambers.

"Though... if i remember… there was something off about that stallion," Celestia continued, not noticing Luna's absence "but what... oh well i'm sure i'll remember something."

PART 2

In his shack, the purple coated Unicorn laid on the floor, his gold eyes drifting lazily in and out of sleep. Crickets chirped and the birds sang just outside.

This was his normal lullaby before he fell asleep for the day. Unlike most ponies Nox preferred the cool night, and was usually shunned for it. Even his brother didn't understand his, what most called, 'unnatural obsession' with the night.

In an attempt to correct his thoughts his brother made him join the royal guard academy. Nox was quick to correct his sleeping, and even passed the royal guard academy top of his class, but he wasn't happy during the day and resigned when he was personally chosen as Captain of the royal guard, giving the position to a stallion named Shining Armor.

His cutie mark was of a solar eclipse, and he use to excel in sneaking and defensive magic that he learned while taking the unicorn's training in the academy.

He heard a resounding *SNAP* as of one of the alarms he set up went off. Armor seemed to form over his body like clouds that rolling over the mountains. He stood by one of the four windows of his shack. "Must have been a squirrel," he said to himself. Then he went and laid back down and went to sleep.

Later that day he woke to another snap. Although this time he caught something. A Timber wolf. As he walked up to the helpless creature, he gave it a look of anger, and with a quick fire spell he burnt it to cinders. "When will these annoying creatures learn that going near my house is deadly if they get caught in my traps?" Nox muttered as he sat on his butt while he fixed the trap again.

"Well you could say they are more stubborn then an oak,sir," answered voice coming from a small pouch on his side. Nox giggled at the pun.

"Heh, good one Cupcake," Nox said with a smirk on his face.

"I try my best sir," Cupcake said

"Hey Cupcake? What say you in helping me make some muffins? I'm expecting a letter from our dear friend Ditzy Doo, and it's always best to have muffins when that mare is around" Nox asked

"It would be an honor sir," Cupcake said plainly,but with enthusiasm.

"ok! Lets get to making one of every muffin we have a recipe for," Nox said trotting back inside his shack.

PART 3

Luna sat on the edge of her bed wondering what this Nox pony was like as she brushed her cosmic mane. "I wonder what color his coat is," she said to herself.

Just then a guard came into the room "Ma'am," he bowed.

"You don't have to be so formal to me," said Luna in a soft yet cheerful tone .

"If it's all the same to you ma'am I kind of like my formalities," said the guard with a smile on his face.

"Well what is it then... sir?" Luna asked, obliging him with a sarcastically formal tone.

"We looked through our records for the stallion, Nox Draconis, and we did find him. He was very decorated for his deeds in the royal guard. He was given the title 'King of the Shield' for no one could match him in defensive magic."

Luna couldn't help but feel a little more curious now, "How did he prove that?"

The guard began reading the paper in patches saying only the things that looked important, "He is the only pony to survive a hydra's bite. It says here that his closest friend was looking for adventure and took him into the Everfree Forest.... they were attacked by a hydra...... the hydra had his friend cornered..... Nox jumped in front of the hydra's bite, and saved his friend from a horrifying death. He was considered a legend, and was offered the position of Captain of the Royal guard."

Luna was surprised Celestia didn't remember this pony "I thought Shining Armor was the captain of the royal Guard?"

The guard looked at Luna with a bit of surprise in his voice as he continued reading, "It says he refused the offer and decided to retire instead."

Luna's jaw dropped as she heard those words "Did he ever say why?"

"Indeed he did ma'am. He had the royal squire write in the reason for his decision," he handed Luna the paper he had been reading from.

Luna read aloud, "I, Nox Draconis, formally Resign from the royal guard, for I do not feel the same as my comrades. This does not label me a traitor. I just wish to be alone for some time," Luna was unsure what to think if it "Did you ever find out where he lives now?"

"Yes we did ma'am," said the guard with enthusiasm.

"Good, for I will have a letter to send to him soon. In the meantime, get me everything we have on him please," and with those words the Guard trotted off towards the library once more.

PART 4

-SNAP- "AAAAAHHH!!!! GET ME DOWN! GET ME DOWN!" Yelled a pony off in the distance.

Nox huffed as he walked out in the sunlight to go help the pony who was trapped in his snare. As he approached the pony, he noticed the gray coated mail mare as she swung from a tree.

Nox stopped her swinging with one hoof and said "Hi Ditzy, got any mail for me?"

Ditzy opened her eyes "Ummmmmm Yep!," Ditzy said as she sifted through her upside down saddle bag, letting papers fall out.

Ditzy was one of the only three other ponies Nox actually enjoyed the company of.

Ditzy handed him a letter as he was getting her down safely "Its another letter from the castle, like normal it doesn't have a name on the envelope, but I can tell by what the paper is made of," said Ditzy with a big smile on her face.

"Ditzy would you like to have a Muffin while I read this? I have a letter to send back if it is from who I think it is," said Nox trying to hold back his excitement.

"Sure!" said Ditzy as quick as ever.

They both entered his shack, and Nox gave Ditzy a batch of Muffins as he started to read the letter to himself.

-My Dearest Nox,

Your past is very... intriguing to me, and raises many questions. May we meet face to face?

Just as Ditzy finished the last muffin Nox had found the letter he was going to send back and gave it to her, "Thanks again Ditzy, and you know you are always welcome here."

Ditzy just smiled and flew away.

PART 5

That night Ditzy gave the letter to one of the royal guards at the castle, and went on her way. The guard quickly brought it up to Luna.

"Yer majesty," the guard said as he came through the door "A letter for you ma'am."

"That was fast," with a smile on her face, Luna sat down to read it along with a scroll she had one of the guards had brought to her that was carefully placed on her bed, “Let's read what he sent back.”

"Not to be rude ma'am, but he who? The letter is sealed with a powerful magic, and there is no name on it other than yours."

"Nox" Luna said as she opened the letter with ease "Ohh so powerful," rolling her eyes and smiling.

The guard stared in disbelief with his mouth slightly open as Luna started reading aloud "My dearest Princess, please let the guard out before you read this." she nodded for the guard to leave and continued as soon as he left "I'm sure the guard said that this was sealed with magic, and it was. My letters can only be opened by the one it was intended for. Tis a simple trick that I look forward to teaching you someday. I am writing this letter to invite you for tea at my shack, I assume you know where it is sense you are a Princess after all. In any case I will eagerly await an answer or a visitor.

Luna was now very curious as to this stallion's appearance, and what he was like. So she told the guards to ready her chariot, and set off for Nox's shack.

PART 6

Luna and her chariot were silent in the midnight sky as she approached the spot where Nox's shack should be. She quickly realized that right where his shack was supposed to be a thick bramble of trees left only a small pathway, not wide enough to fit her chariot through.

Luna was forced to leave her chariot and walk. "Ma'am do you want one of us to come with you?" asked one of the ponies that drew her chariot out of concern.

"No, but thank you for the offer. This is more of a private matter that I would like to keep quiet about, and It would be best if I went alone," said Luna in a reassuring tone, as she saw the guard’s concern deep set on their faces.

As soon as she was out of sight of her chariot she saw him. He almost looked like a dragon amidst the moonlight. The armor Nox wore made Luna more nervous, "Princess would you come this way?" he said the helm portion of his armor to vanish revealing his face.

Luna started walking towards Nox and noticed that his armor wasn't made of any metal she had ever seen. "Sir Nox?"

"In the flesh my lady," he said bowing to her.

"No need for the formalities" Luna asked, "In all honesty Nox when I got your first letter I was excited to know somepony cared for the night, don't get me wrong I still am, but you have given me so many questions I wish to ask and-"

Nox cut her off "And all will be answered dear Luna, but first let us go to my shack, and have some tea, yes?"

Luna nodded her head. As they walked Luna felt nervous as she didn't know what he had in store for the night. When they reached the shack Nox opened the door for Luna with his magic, and shut the door behind him as he walked in.

"I can see why you feel intimidated by me," the wrest of the armor he was wearing vanished revealing his royal purple coat.

Luna relaxed a bit, "Your coat is so..." Luna stopped herself almost feeling out of place, she could feel the blood rushing to her face.

"Haha, I got that a lot back in Canterlot, anyways you said you had questions?" said Nox as he poured tea into two tall glasses.

"Ummm, OH yes, first what armor was that you were wearing in the forest? I have never seen anything like it before," asked Luna.

"Well you are correct, there is nothing like it in all of Equestria, but armor... I wouldn't call it armor, its more like.... how about I come back to that one?" Nox said with a smile on his face as he gave Luna the glass of Tea and started lighting candles.

"Ok then, why did you REALLY leave the royal guard?" Luna asked.

"Fare question, I was becoming to well known," Nox answered plainly, and almost to quickly for Luna to let it go.

"What do you mean by that? Are you one of those pony's that has tremendous strength, and doesn't want anypony to know about it?" Luna probed his answer.

"Now that's a kind of unfare question, I'm not what you think I am" said Nox with care.

"I would say it was fair in light of things," Luna interjected.

"I meant the use of 'pony' in your question was unfair. I'm not a pony," answered Nox.

"You sure look like one," Luna retorted some what annoyed by Nox Dodging her questions.

Just then Nox's body started to change, his hind legs started to extend and his front hooves started to grow appendages. Luna just stared in disbelief. As Nox stood up nakid as a cloud of armor seamed to ripple across his body.

"seen enough?" asked Nox.

"Yes," Luna said wide eyed.

Nox changed back "I'm not a changeling. They are nowhere near as powerful as I" Nox started with a chuckle, "I am a guardian here to defend this world from evil... things shall I call them. I guard the night and all ponies who spend most of their time after the sun sets. There are others like me on this world, but they are not.... on speaking terms with me right now."

"Why me? Why tell me all this?" asked Luna.

"Because you are the only pony that can truly understand me," Nox said in a gentle tone. Looking to change the subject for a while he added, ".... so I presume the guards who remember me told you my nick name?"

"Y...yes," Luna said regaining her composure, "The Dragon of the Night"

Nox smiled, "Yep, want me to tell you why they called me that?"

"Because you liked to use armor that made you look like a dragon, and you loved the night," Luna said

"Though that is true, it's not why they called me that. My name, Nox Draconis, in my language litteraly means 'Night Dragon' and I have always admired dragons," Nox stated, with pride.

"Yes they are a very interesting species, but your armor?" Luna was still puzzled by it.

"Ah yes, my armor, is actualy this little lady" Nox holds up a bit. Seeing Luna's confusion he said, "don't be shy we are all friends here," and like that the bit to slide down from mid air and started forming into a little filly," This is my link she's shy around strangers. Her name is Cupcake."

Luna had to rub her eyes at the sight of the new filly standing before her. "C...Cupcake huh? That's such a cute name," Luna said with a faint smile.

"Thank you ma'am" Cupcake said doing a little curtsy.

"Awwww that was so cute" said Luna "But the formalities are not needed."

"Nox does that mean?" Cupcake asked.

"Go ahead," Nox replied.

Cupcake started to trot over to Luna, and her eyes widened as she came closer. Cupcake looked like she was made of porcine as she reached out a hoof to to Luna.

Luna touched Cupcake's hoof with hers. Cupcake's hoof to melt onto Luna's. This startled Luna for a second then felt her mind becoming at ease.

Luna looked at Nox and he looked to be in deep thought. Finally Cupcake pulled away and her hoof returned to normal. "There you go," said Nox "You are very welcome ma'am."

"What do you mean?" replied Luna

'I have given you a gift' Nox said.

'What does this Colt mean by Gift?' thought Luna.

'I mean that out minds are now connected' Nox said through the mental link.

The thought scared Luna. She didn’t know what to say back.

"Don't be frightened, this gift I give you is not a full link. I could give you that, but you aren't ready for the full force of a guardian's mind. Especially mine, but this link will serve as a way of communicating long distances, and if you are in any trouble I'll be there to help."

PART 7

"Such a thing could hardly be made up Dear Sister," Luna said to Calestia.

"I'm not trying to sound rude Luna but is there any way you can prove all this?" Retorted Celestia with a giant smile on her face.

"Well let me try something," said Luna out loud 'Nox might I bother you for a moment?'

A couple minutes passed and Luna started to doubt her memory 'Everything alright Luna?' Nox's voice sounded clearly in her mind.

Luna's face lit up with a big smile 'Yes... yes everything is fine, I was just wondering... might there be a way you could come to Canterlot for a day? My sister wants to see you'

'Did you tell her what I am?' Nox sounded stern with his question.

'No, no I only told her about the mental link you gave me' Luna answered.

'Ah I see, ok tell her I'll be at the palace by dawn tomorrow' Nox said.

Luna quickly told her sister, then heard Nox say one more thing 'Should I wear my armor?'

'Keep it ready if you must but it might scare some of the early riser's in Canterlot' said Luna.

'Fair enough, but I'm putting it on when I get in the castle' Nox sounded excited and Luna just rolled her eyes 'Hay don't judge me, I barely get to use my armor anymore' Nox shot back

'You knew I roled my eyes?' asked Luna

'Of corse, I can read everypony's mind even your sisters but I'm more interested in yours, so young yet with the wisdom of a Guardian' Nox said.

Luna was both shocked, and elated by the thought of her new friend being able to read minds. 'What is my sister thinking right now?'

'Oh she's just as curios to see me, as you were before you came to my cabin last night' Nox answered smugly.

'You should know I'mm still curios' Luna said.

'I know but there will be time for all that later dear Luna, but as of right now I must pack for a trip to come see you' Nox's voice sounded like he was trying to keep a laugh out of the link.

'Then I shall prepare for your arrival' Luna managed to gather her thoughts after what she had just learned about Nox, it unsettled her that her thoughts were not entirely private to her and her alone, but quickly excepted it.

It was mid day by the time Luna was actually able to fall asleep her mind was heavily consumed by thoughts of Nox. her Dreams were no different, but she could feel Nox's mind brush hers as her dream was very intense, in both questions and made up answers.

Luna woke with a start when she heard a loud knock on her door. "Come in," Luna said trying to make herself presentable for whom ever came through the door.

"Princess?" said an unknown voice, this was common for Luna still doesn't know all of the ponies by name yet like her sister did.

"Yes sir...?"

A Unicorn of about average hight, golden eyes, a cuty mark of two suns, and a coat that looked like the sunrise stepped through the door "oh please excuse my rudeness I am to be your new escort assigned by Princess Celestia," the strange stallion said.

"Is that so?" said Luna in a condescending tone.

"I'm no guard ma'am. I'm just here to help you if you need any-"

the rest of his speech was lost as Nox's voice rang through her mind 'Who are you talking to?'

'What do you mean? I thought you could read everypony's mind' Luna said in a kind of mocking tone.

'Yes EVERYPONY'S mind is open to me, but I don't sense a presence in your room. Be careful with whatever it is' Nox was serious and now Luna could see there was something off about this one.

'I'll double my pace and get there by midnight, I don't like things I can't sense, and there aren't meany. I suggest you find your sister and stay beside her while that 'pony' is in your presence' Nox said

"Lets go find Celestia I wish to hear this from her mouth as well," said Luna to the strange pony

"As you wish ma'am," the morning coated pony said.

As they trotted down the grand halls Luna felt uneasy, as if the one next to her was waiting for something, something of great importance to him.

"Sooo... how's the night going?" the strange pony asked

It through Luna off a bit, no pony ever asked her that before "It's.... nice" she said awkwardly.

after a long pause the stallion turned to Luna, "I know who Nox is Luna, and i know what he can do," he said while they stood at the closed doors of the throne room, "he is one of the meny ponies we keep tabs on."

"What do you mean?" Luna said with a frown on her face.

"Well my dear I am a part of an organization called the Celestial alliance. We specialize in all things under the sun, Nox is something not of this world. So we are here to make sure he doesn't cause any trouble. You may tell him through the link he gave you or not, but either way I will be staying with you until I can asses Nox for myself. You may call me Cal, for now," he ended his speech with a smile.

Luna stood still and wide eyed while trying to comprehend what Cal was saying. If he already knew about Nox then Nox must surely know of him 'Nox this pony claims to be somepony named Cal' she said over their link.

She could feel the anger rising from Nox's mind 'GET TO CALESTIA NOW!' Nox's tone frightened Luna and she began to open the door to the throne room.

"Dear sister," Celestia's voice sounded soothing, "What are you doing up this early?"

"I.... I came to inform you Nox will be joining us at midnight instead of dawn," she looked at Cal and saw his face had a deep set frown upon it, and in a way it pleased Luna that this pony was not at ease. "I know it's only 6 pm, but I just wanted you to know that I will be expecting him in my chambers, unharmed, he will be wearing armor that makes him look like a dragon, and was hoping you could tell the guards to not attack?"

Celestia looked a little troubled by her sister's news. Six hours was barely enough time to let all of the guards know who to look for, let alone get ready herself. "Ok but just so you know I do want to see him by dawn. I have important maters that need to be attended to, Twilight is finely ready to join us and gain her wings," Celestia stated with a jolly expression on her face.

"OH what joy" Luna said in an excited tone "Shall I prepare a space in the sky for you and Twilight to talk?"

"If you would be so kind dear sister," Celestia said with a smile.

Luna's horn began to glow a midnight blue "... and there, all done. It shall be the best coronation yet," Luna said with a smile

"I'll be gone most of the night waiting for her to use the spell that will set her wings free, but i'll make sure to make the song quick," Celestia said with a wink

Celestia turned her head towards Cal "Your majesty," he said with a bow

"I hope you're staying out of trouble Cal, I wont be so lenient on you next time you have an outburst like that," Celestia said with a serious look on her face.

"Wont happen again ma'am, promise," Cal said in his usual calm voice.

Now Luna was more confused then ever, and knew Cal had more explaining to do if he was to stay with her till Nox arived. As they left the room Luna turned to Cal and said, "What was the meaning of my sister's warning to you?"

"When you are a high adviser to princess Celestia you can get into very... sensitive topics.... I had the displeasure of disagreeing with one such topic your sister held dear... and I was punished for it, such is my punishment for guarding you.. not to say I didn't already want to in the first place," Cal explained

"So I'm punishment for doing something wrong huh?" Luna said with disgust.

"In my opinion this was mearly to make sure you are safe, if your sister really wanted to punish me she would have banished me... not saying I would really leave Equestria in the first place. BESIDES I happen to think of it as an honer to get to finally talk to you" Cal said with a smile on his face.

Luna let her face soften into a small smile "... Thanks.... I really appreciate that."

"Tis what I am hear for ma'am" he said with his tung sticking out in a joking manner as they trotted into the dining hall.

PART 8

Nox was sprinting down the path toward the castle, hoping Cal hadn't done anything to Luna. Cal and Nox were like the male versions of the two princesses they worked under, if Cal were to try and assert dominance over Luna as well as Celestia it would mean he was trying to take this world for his own.

Nox barreled down the road. It was night time and the sounds of lullabies could be herd from the windows of the houses. This calmed Nox enough to slow his pace "What am I doing Cupcake?" he said out loud.

'Well you got angry, and started sprinting for the castle. When you get angry it's hard for me to tell what's going on in your head sir. Most of the time you are so calm, and quiet, but something about this Luna is making you change' said Cupcake from a little pouch in Nox's sattle bag.

"I wouldn't say I'm changing Cupcake... it's more of feelings I have been suppressing... coming out.... in a manner they shouldn't... Cal and I aren't really on speaking terms sense I so rudely refused Celestia's promotion to captain of the royal guard, but I had no choice in the matter... my heart is and always has belonged to the night. I shouldn't have to be subjected by the day ponies, to their ideals, I'm not one of them."

'I know sir, but we can't change the past and we shouldn't have to worry about what the day ponies think. Besides you are a guardian, and you chose to guard the night while your brother guards the day' Cupcake stated with her soothing voice.

'Yes but he is close to braking our agreement himself by talking to Luna this informally, and he had better have a good explanation when we get there...'

'Well sir maybe we shouldn't prejudge the situation before we have had a chance to examine it ourselves' Cupcake said. She was always Nox's voice of reason, and he knew that he could trust her judgement because that was the only reason he created her in the first place, but now it seams like she was more then that, more then something to keep him sane, something closer to him

"Cupcake... I'm going to need my armor" Nox said in a calm voice.

"Y...yes sir... it's been a long time sense you asked me that," Cupcake said shocked.

"I know... and I'm sorry for that" Nox said with a small hint of sadness in his voice.

"It's ok sir it just took me by surprise is all," cupcake said in an even tone as she started to form onto Nox's body

"This is much better" said Nox "I feel more at ease with you closer Cupcake," Nox said while he flexed his limbs.

"I know sir," Cupcake said smugly

"Please... call me papa," said Nox with a smile.

"Ok...papa," repeated cupcake feeling closer to her creator than she ever did.

'Come then, lets settle this once and for all,' and as he finished talking he spread the wings of his armor and took to the sky.

His wings were silent just like the cool midnight air around him as he neared the castle, he flew into an open window, and quickly made the armor look more intimidating 'Thank you again my dear' Nox said to Cupcake.

'No problem papa' Cupcake sounded happy.

'Before we go Cupcake.. how would you feel about Luna being your mama?' Nox asked.

'If Luna makes Papa happy I would be glad to call her mama' said Cupcake almost as excited as Nox was.

"Right then, let's get this family reunion over with," Nox said with a big sigh.

PART 9

Luna and Cal were sitting at the dining hall when a guard burst through the door, "PRINCESS! A DRAGON IS INVADING THE CASTLE, AND IT ASKED FOR YOU BY NAME!"

Luna looked at Cal, he had a deap set frown on his face "Tis no dragon sir guard," Cal said casually "He is our guest. Please if you would show him in for us?"

"Y-yes sir," said the guard with more fear in his voice then courage.

"Nox always did have a tad dramatic side to him," said Cal sighing in disgust.

"I happen to like a little dramatic flare in a stallion," said Luna.

"As you should ma'am, but Nox has been known to... overdo it, if you will. Such as using his power to unnaturally sharpen his teeth to fit his more dragon personality, and using a flame spell to mimic dragon's breath," Luna giggled at the thought, she could just see her sister's guards trembling at the every step of a Stallion dressed in dragon armor

"You know when I told him who you were Nox was very displeased," said Luna.

"What a shame it seams like this might come to blows after all," said Cal pressing his front hooves together in thought.

"But it seams somehow his mind is more calm now," said Luna.

"Is that so? Maybe there is still time to talk this out," Cal took a breath of relief at Luna's descriptions.

"Why are you so tense Cal?" Luna looked at him puzzled.

"Nox is going to want to fight me, and I don't blame him, for me talking to you, would make it seem like I wanted this world to myself, at least to him it would. Tis hard to explain child" Cal flinched as he said the last word.

"CHILD?" Luna said anger in her voice " HOW DARE YOU CALL ME A CHILD!"

"Calm down, Luna to me you and Celestia are both much younger then I"

"How so?" Luna replied still a bit angry.

"Luna, Nox and I CREATED this world" Cal said

"You know I need more proof then that," said Luna her voice still bitter

"I know, and you will have it when Nox gets here" said Cal calmly, "I need one more thing from you Luna..."

"That is?" she said a little irritated.

"When he gets here have the guards leave so we can talk in private," Cal said calm as ever.

"That can be done, but only if Nox want's it too," Luna started to calm down.

Just then the doors to the dining hall burst open, and Nox stood in the door way accompanied by two guards, "Cal if you did anything to Luna SO HELP ME!" The guards began shaking in fear as Nox brought his mighty hoof down to the floor,

"Please calm yourself Nox, I did nothing to Luna. All I wanted was to talk to my old friend," Cal said calmly

"FRIEND? HOW DARE YOU... HOW DARE YOU BRING LUNA INTO THIS!" Nox wasn't mad, but he felt the need to yell anyways "Luna please be a dear and tell these guards to stand down and leave," said Nox.

"Well you heard the stallion," She said aloud.

The guards left and with the door shut behind them. The room fell silent. Cal was the first to brake the silence "So... I bet you're wondering why I was talking to Luna?"

"Yes it would be very appreciated, especially sense it goes against our agreement" Nox said with his voice more calm now that the guards were gone.

Confused Luna interjected before Cal could answer, "What do you mean, 'Agreement'?"

Nox only responded with "I'll answer your question in a moment little one," and immediately regretted his choice in words.

"FIRST CAL, NOW YOU, WHO ARE YOU TWO TO CALL ME LITTLE!" her face was flush red by now.

Nox let out a deep sigh, "Luna I thought this was apparent when I told you I was a guardian? Cal and I created this world, and now we are here to protect it, our agreement was that Cal would protect the day and all ponies, princess or not, that spend most of their time during the day, and mine was to protect the night"

Luna sat back down and with Nox's story she finally believed Cal "Oh... I guess that does make me rather... little... compared to you two," She said in a quiet voice.

"Luna my dear come stand by me... I can't stand to see that beautiful face racked with such sorrow," Nox's voice was very soft and sincere, so Luna did as he asked. Nox nuzzled her face to comfort her as she came closer.

"Good, that is all I wanted to know" Cal said, braking the mood.

"What do you mean?" Nox was now confused himself.

"All I wanted to know was how my brother, truly felt about Luna. Celestia's punishment for me was to make sure you weren't a bad stallion, you know when you stormed out on her when she offered that position she thought you finally snapped under the pressure, but she didn't know everything that I do."

"And you know why I refused that so bitterly, yet you haven't even told her why?" Nox said looking at Cal bitterly "Why do you keep yourself distanced from Calestia?" 'It looks like we aren't going to be fighting tonight Cupcake'

'Yes papa' Cupcake said then dissolving her armor form back into a coin.

"Because... I didn't know how you would take it" Cal said

"Probably the same way you took me suddenly showing interest in Luna, very carefully, but if you do recall brother Celestia kept me from Luna for 1000 years. I feel bad for letting our enemies get to her as much as they did, but I'll make sure it doesn't happen again," he said as he sat Luna down and then sat next to her.

"Who are your enemies?" Luna asked curiously.

"The same as yours my dear. We call them Metus, and they spread their lies from the shadows of our worlds," Answered Cal.

"Metus are beings like Cal and I, but dedicate their life to taking over a guardian's world. To give an example of one such Metus you need only look at King Sombra," Nox finished.

"And don't feel like you are going to be the only pony that knows of our existence Luna, I shall personally tell Celestia in the morning" Cal reassured her, "I have been trying to give hints but I guess now is better then never. seeing as Nox here has given you the uncensored version of our world."

"Well" Luna began, cuddling up to Nox "I'm sure we can find some way to get it through my sister's head, it is very open to new things as it is, but getting her to like you Cal, that's a different story entirely"

"I know" Cal said with a smile "but she doesn't need to fall for me right away... or even at all, I'm not as 'romantic' as Nox here, to be quite honest it's even a surprise to me that he fell for anypony... sense his heart is like a dragon's," he said sticking his tung out in a mocking way.

Nox gave a fake growl and bared his gleaming, sharp teeth.

Looking into Nox's eyes Luna asked "Is Discord one of you?"

"No not really, he was one of our first creations though. We felt this world needed a little chaos, but sadly like you, Discord was afflicted by a Metus," Nox said. He then started humming which to calm Luna even more.

"Luna..." Cal started "the reason you and Celestia were created were so we would never feel lonely, when Celestia sent you to the moon, I often worried about Nox's wellbeing, and because he didn't have you there I thought he might have turned into a Metus himself, now I see... I was gladly wrong."

"So am I" said Luna now feeling better and smiling

"Don't take your creation in a bad way either Luna we are both glad that you two keep order with night and day," said Nox, "In fact it really brings it all together as something in common between us."

"Cal you should get some rest, I know you're tired... and I want to get to know Nox a little more before my sister gets back," said Luna with a big smile on her face.

"You're right... I'll leave you two alone so you can get some more private questions answered... good night you two."

"Sleep well Cal" Nox and Luna said at the same time as Cal walked out of the hall.

"You want to get to know me do you?" Nox said nuzzling Luna

"Yes I do haha," Luna said giggling as Nox nuzzled her ticklish spot on her ribs.

"Ask away my princess" Nox said staring her straight in the eye.

"Why create us?" Luna asked in a very serious tone as she laid against Nox's side

"Didn't we explain why we created you and Celestia?" Nox said looking puzzled.

"Yes, but why did you create this world?"

"Well it's a part of a guardians final test to becoming an ascended one, it's hard but well worth it as for the reason you are ponies well this might make you mad but at the beginning, Cal and I had a fight. he wanted ponies and I wanted dragons to be the dominate race"

"That explains a lot actually," Luna said giggling.

"Well we flipped a coin and as you can tell... Cal won," Nox said rolling his eyes, "I only stayed because he agreed to let me make some dragons as the second most dominate species on this planet"

"Well I'm glad you stayed" said Luna,

"I am too" Nox said clearing off the table with his magic and proceeded to lay down on the table "Join me" he swooned.

Luna layed down next to him,"So, how many ascended ones are there?"

Nox used his magic to illustrate what he was saying on the ceiling of the dining hall "Oh about twenty....three that still except their tittle," Nox made twenty-three white dots appear on the ceiling, "But there are thousands of them," he lit up the ceiling in an exact replica of the night sky.

Awestruck Luna's eyes widened. She felt like a little filly laying next to Nox. The only word she could manage to get out was, "Wow."

"Now you see my night, you will never look at our stars the same... the portion of the sky you parted for Celestia earlier.... it was nowhere near the other Guardian worlds. When Cal and I created this world purposely put flecks of light in the night sky... but the other guardian worlds are still there" Nox filtered the stars in his night sky to show only the constellations, "If you ever want to know where to look look to these and you will never be wrong in finding life," Nox looked towards Luna

"I feel as if my mind is more at ease knowing these things," Luna said as she leaned against Nox.

Nox laughed a little as he turned towards Luna, "The night will soon be ending anything else you wanted to ask me?"

"Nothing that needs to be answered right now. Besides," Luna turned towards Nox and nuzzles him, "My sister still wants to see you when she gets back."

PART 10

Celestia returned just before dawn a happy smile on her face. Cal, Luna, and Nox were waiting for her by the door to the throne room, "You missed an eventful nigh dear sister," Celestia said.

"You have no idea," said Luna cuddling up to Nox.

"Oh is that so? Cal did they stay out of trouble?" Calestia asked one eyebrow raised.

"Yes ma'am the most they did was talk," Cal said with a big smile on his face.

"You must be tired Cal, you should get some sleep its going to be a-" Celestia started but was interupted by Cal.

"I know little one. I've always known," Cal said calmly.

Luna giggled at the statement because she knew it struck a nerve, "What..." she took a breath "What makes you think im so little Cal?" her tone was very condescending towards Cal.

"Do you remember when I was born Celestia?" Cal shot back.

"Ye... no I don't" Calestia caught herself.

"That's funny... because I remember when you were born, my favorite creation you were." Cal said in an unusually serious tone.

"Are you trying to tell me that you are my dad?" said Celestia with a bit of disgust in her voice.

"No, I'm saying I'm your creator. Your parents... Both of your parents..." He included Luna in this because she needed to hear it too, "came to Nox and I because they wanted to have a couple foals of their own, your mother was incapable of having any children so we gave them their wish. On one condition, that their two foals would one day help us with guarding the night and day. they gladly agreed, and that's why I called you 'little one' understand?"

There was a long pause before Celestia gathered herself and said "Well... it seams you were prepared for that question."

"Been prepared sense the day you were born ma'am," Cal answered back.

"I see... is there anything else I need to know?"

"Oh there is plenty, but first may I see your hoof?"

"I guess so... what for?" Celestia asked more confused then ever.

"I need to give you something of great importance," Cal stated

"Fine" she held her hoof out as Cal touched his hoof to hers they to melt together as Cal gave Celestia the same link as Nox did to Luna who by this time were fast asleep on the floor huddled together.

"That was... weird," said Celestia

'Indeed it was' Cal said through their newly formed mental link.

Celestia shook her head to make sure she wasn't dreaming "H..how did you?"

Nox woke up for a second and yawned "Should have explained it to her first brother, either way I'm going to take Luna back to her chambers, and probably be on my way... I don't know if I'm welcome here yet."

Luna blinked her eyes open as Nox finished his sentence "You can stay in my chambers Nox, it will be nice to have company here."

"Ok then Luna, lets go get some sleep." Nox said with a half sleepy smile.

They trotted off and out the door, and when the door shut their eyes sprung wide awake, "That was a good plan. Now Cal and my sister will finally leave us alone," said Luna.

"It took longer then I originally planned, you know you being banished'n all, but we are finally alone. Shall we go for a walk?" Nox asked with wide eyes and a broad smile.

"I'd love that" Luna said cuddling up close to Nox "I know this nice shady spot in Ponyville we can go to"

"Is that so? well I'll race yah to Ponyville" Nox said challenging Luna to a race.

"Challenge excepted" was all Luna said before she bolted for a window and flew away.

'Cupcake if you would please' asked Nox while he was running for the same window and jumping out.

'Yes papa' said Cupcake as she turned into a pair of dragon wings, and took off into the morning sky chasing after Luna.
