Trixie Lulamoon walked the shoreline alone. The sun was beginning to set and the warm wind pushed her mane into her face. It’s late August, and Trixie has finally been able to take a break from all her struggles. It’s still really hot, so Trixie decided to take a dip in the water. As she entered through the shallow waves, a large wave came and knocked her down.
“Ugh, cursed tides,” Muttered Trixie in annoyance. She continued to move deeper and deeper until the ocean floor was a few feet under her. She felt her whole body get jerked forward with the rest of the water. Suddenly, a large wave formed and crashed on top of Trixie. Something hit her on the head really hard. She rubbed her head after the water calmed again, and looked around for the object that hit her.
“What? A jar in the middle of the ocean?” She picked up the glass jar and looked inside. A folded piece of tan paper sat glumly on the inside. “Strange.”
Trixie ran back to the shore with the jar in her magical grip. The sun was now st, and it had gotten much cooler. Trixie’s wagon stood a couple hundred feet away from the shore, but tonight she would have a nice hotel bed to sleep in, and a real shower to shower in. She headed over to the Hurdle Hotel, and went up to her room on the fifteenth floor. She entered her room with the key and shut the door. She decided to take a nice warm shower before she opened the jar and looked at the paper inside. Maybe it was a treasure map!
As Trixie stood in the shower, the hot water ran own her face and then down the drain. She hadn’t had a nice shower like this for the past three years. She could only afford to take a vacation every two or three years, because her income was usually less than what a waiter would make.
Trixie enjoyed every second of the shower, but instead of having her mind cleared like she thought, her curiosity kept on bringing her back to that stupid jar!
“Ugh, dumb brain,” She said as her curiosity got the better of her. She shut off the water and stepped out. After toweling herself dry, she sat on the comfy bed, and pulled up the covers. Then she picked up the jar and popped the lid open. It was louder than she was expecting because it made her jump out of her skin.
“Ahh!” She yelled, surprised.
something banged against her wall, and on the other side a voice said,
“Would you keep it down over there? I’m trying to sleep!”
“Sorry”
Trixie put the lid aside, and pulled out the tan parchment. Woah, it’s covered in salt. Trixie unfolded the paper to it’s full size, and there were actually three papers together. After inspecting it, it looked like a journal!
“Maybe it’ll tell me where treasure is!” She said as she began to read out loud.
“June 7th. My name is Decimus. I hail in a small pony town from the Griffin Kingdoms, but I am an Earth Pony. After all the political jargon, I decided it was safest for me to flee the country. I took my boat, the Stonewall out to sea the morning of June first. This is a fairly small boat, and gets very claustrophobic very quickly. The ship is just 39 feet long, and is 13 feet wide. It has three small rooms. A kitchen, a bedroom and a small bathroom. The bedroom also acts as a living room because it also has a desk attached to the floor in one of the corners. I knew it would be a very uncomfortable trip, but I didn’t want to be in the mass pony massacres that are currently going on in the big cities. By boat, the trip from Griffonia to Equestria is about 6000 miles. I have the choice of rowing, which is useless to me since I am the only one aboard, and sailing. I decided the latter.
June 24th, I have successfully passed Griffonian Naval border, so I’m in no danger by griffin armies. Now, I’m in a 100 mile radius of the planet’s most turbulent and stormiest waters. Even an old sailor like me isn’t prepared for this. I’m not turning back though. It’s either killed by drowning or being lynched. I am not being lynched any time soon.
June 26th, My boat has collided with a floating metal cargo crate, and there is now a hole in the side of the boat. The bathroom is flooded up to the knees, and The kitchen has a thin layer of water covering the floor too. I have to try to patch it up the best I can.
June 27th, I patched up the side of the boat with homemade glue, scrap metal, and patches in the emergency kit. It is somewhat transparent, but it holds a kick pretty well.
July 1st, I see a storm approaching in the distance. It’s fairly large, and I can feel the waves already becoming violent here. I believe that I’ll be in the middle of the storm by mid-day.
July 1st, Noon, The waves are extremely violent now. I’ve packed up all glassware in special plastic containers, and added extra patched to the hole just in case. Now I just have to wai
July 3rd, Sorry for the cut-off during my last entry. A very large wave hit the boat, and caused it to flip. The patch I made seemed to sustain pretty well, but one of my two masts is now broken, and to top it off, the entire cabin is flooded. It’ll take me at least a day to pump this all out. The storm is gone for now, but I have a feeling there’s gonna be another one soon.
July 7th, the one month anniversary at sea. I celebrated the night by drinking a bit of liquor I packed in case I needed it. I made a nice pasta dinner for tonight, and by my weather readings, it’s going to be clear sea for a couple days or so.
July 15th, It’s here. The largest storm of the year. In about three hours, I’ll be in the wall. If I’m still alive by then, I’ll hit the eye roughly at six o'clock, and I’ll sail clear waters for about ten minutes before hitting the other wall. Wish me luck.
July 22nd, I think it’s the 22nd. I’m not sure anymore. The Stonewall finally sank at o three hundred July 16th. I managed to deploy the life raft, and managed to get a five gallon jug of water on board. I have enough food for a week or two. I also discovered that in the side compartment of the life raft is a knife, oar, and celestial navigation equipment. An astrolabe, compass, flares, first aid, and a map. When I was trying to get the jug of water, I was pushed into a metal shard that cut me across my head above my right eye. I’ve already used half of the first aid on that cut alone. It was a fairly nasty cut too. I don’t know how long this water will last though. I haven’t drank any yet, so I hope it lasts a bit.”
Trixie stopped reading. She was surprised at the entries she was reading. Could this guy still be at sea somewhere?
“I guess I’ll read the rest in the morning.” Trixie said after yawning. She put the papers aside, and lay in her bed. As she tried to fall asleep, her mind flooded with possibilities. Her last thought before she fell asleep was “I hope he’s okay”
