Good Misfortune

Chapter 2

Introductions

I slowly woke up to the sound of hoof steps and chatting. It took a while, since I was still just waking, and heard more clearly two people talking.  Most likely women.

"...and before I could introduce myself it just passed out and fell to the ground!" Said a feminine voice.

Wait passed out? phew, so it was just a dream

"Oh my" said another voice "it did seem like it had a tough time, especially with those timber wolfs."

Wait...timber wolfs?  You mean those weird wolfs?... that was in the forest... oh great it wasn't a dream.  This was real, and to top it of the unic... wait.

I groaned inwardly

So I passed out and was brought who knows where by a talking unicorn.

Slowly I lift my eyelids, so as to see where I was and who was talking.  I saw what looked like a place for animals, with all the bird houses and that unmistakable scent of animals(You know what that smells like especially those of you with pets).  I came to focus to two colorful hor..er.. pony's.  One was that lavender unicorn that I saw in the forest, the other had a type of yellow fur coat and a pink mane.  The yellow one had...wings?

So I am in a place where unicorns and Pegasus exist

"So, what do you think Fluttershy?" asked the lavender unicorn. "Have you ever seen an animal like him before?"

The yellow one, assuming her name was Fluttershy shook head

"I'm sorry Twilight, but I have never seen anything like him" stated Fluttershy

Not only do they exist but talk... fascinating actually

"You said it talked, right?" asked Fluttershy

Twilight nodded.  "He said something about the wolfs re-opening his wounds"

"Oh my the poor thing" said Fluttershy  "Is it a him or a her?" she asked

Twilight thought for a moment.  "I can't say I know" she said "And with it being a species I have never read about I can't tell from just how it looks"

They both stared at me for a moment, not realizing I was awake and eavesdropping into their conversation at this point.  After a couple of seconds they stared at each other again.

"May be we should check, as to not be rude once it wakes up and we end up calling it by its opposite gender." stated Twilight, not sure about what she had just suggested.

CHECK!?!?!?  I tried not to panic THAT'S RUDE ON ITS OWN!!! ... Fluttershy better disagree

I look at Fluttershy who hesitantly nodded "I wouldn't want to be rude on my first impression"

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THESE PONY'S!?!?!

I was trying so hard not to panic when I returned my gaze I saw they where on top of my slowly taking of my jeans.

THAT'S IT!!! Panicking at this point I'M UP I'M UP

"Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, NOPE!" I said repeatedly trying to get these crazy pony's of of me an scooting over to the far end of the couch I was on.

Startling them, they quickly backed off.  I stared at both of them... Twilight was looking at the floor making circles with her hoof while flutter shy was trying to hide behind her mane... they where blushing. It was adorable...

NO, don't you dare, don't you dare, DON'T...

"Aww~" I accidentally said

Fucking idiot

They both stared at me with a questionable face expression. Not finding any word, I had to explain.

"Sorry its just, you two look adorable like that" I said hesitantly. "Couldn't help it..."

Both pony's relaxed slightly but their blushed deepened. Twilight was the first to recover and spoke up.

"So..um... sleep well?" Twilight asked. Her expression quickly showed that what she said she CLEARLY didn't want to say.

I gave her my 'Are you kidding me' face.  I think she got the message seeing her expression.

"It was alright" I answered, which clearly caught twilight off guard "Though I would prefer a sleep where a unicorn and Pegasus WASN'T trying to get in my pants" I dead panned.

At this point Twilight's face was red and Fluttershy looked like she wanted to be ANYWHERE but here.

"You do realize that you could have asked if I was male or female instead of looking yourself" I said to the both of them "It would be understandable since you have never met my species"

Realization hit twilight as she finally looked at me "So you heard that huh?"

"Yes I heard in on the conversation Twilight" I said

She looked at me with a bewildered expression on her face. "How did you..."

I cut her off knowing what she would say "I was awake for a several of minutes" I told her "Enough so to know that your names where Twilight and Fluttershy"

Fluttershy imidiatly looked up at me at the sound of her name being spoken by me.  I stood up from the couch and began to stretch when pain took over my body forcing me back down on the couch.

I sigh "Ow,... everything hurts, ow"

The moment I said I was in pain Fluttershy shot up and flew right up to my face

"Oh my gosh, are you alright!?" she said while inspecting my wounds "Let me get you something, I'll be right back" she said as she flew off to a different room and came back with a first aid kit "Here let me help you"

"No its OK" I said "I have my own first aid kit in the back pack that I..." I thought for a second "Twilight wheres my back pack?"

She gave me a puzzled look "Your what?"

"My back pack" I said "You know that bag that I had in the cave with survival supplies" I thought "As a matter of fact wheres the hatchet and shield that I ... you know what never mind its not important" I finally said.  She looked at me before brushing it off.

"Um, Twilight?" I asked

"Yes?"

"Can I ask you something..s?"

She looked at me before nodding "Sure, but with one condition."

"What condition is that?" I asked

"The condition that you answer some of my questions to"

I nodded "OK, seems like a fair deal" I said while Fluttershy was putting bandages on my wounds.

"OK, Don't take this wrong but how are you even here?" she looked at me and blinked in confusion "I mean how are you real?  Unicorns are a myth."

She looked at me "What do you mean a myth?  Where did you come from?" she asked

"I came from The United States of America" I said "Los Angeles to be exact."

She looked at me in confusion "I have never heard of either of those places."  she said "And I have never seen them on the world map" she looked at me with excitement "Are you from another world?"

"I don't know, maybe" then I stopped "Where am I exactly?"

"Your in Equestria" she said "Ponyvill to be exact" she said trying to mimic my voice.

"Never heard of those places..." I was beginning to think about that other worldly theory "So whats this planet called?"

"Its called Earth"

I wondered about that answer for a few seconds... "Fascinating..."

Twilight looked at me "Whats fascinating?"

"That's what my planet is called to" I said

This seemed to intrigue Twilight while Fluttershy was just about done wrapping my wounds.

"I wonder if there are any more similarity between my planet and your planet" I said Twilight nodded and seemed to think the exact same things.  We stayed like this for a moment before Fluttershy spoke up.

"Um, if you don't mind me asking, whats your name?" she asked clearly trying to be polite

"How rude of me, my name is Daniel" I said "Daniel Grey"

Twilight looked at me and smiled "Good to meet you Mr. Grey"

"Just Daniel is fine twilight" I said "Mr. Grey is my father"

She looked into my eyes and suddenly regret saying it "I'm so sorry" she began as she looked down at the floor.  I gave her a puzzled look.

"Sorry for what Twilight?" I asked with no real idea of what she could be sorry about

"I'm sorry I reminded you about your father"she said "You must be sad having to leave your family and friends behind"

"Not really, no" I said which made Twilight look at me in confusion.

"Why not?" she asked "Don't you want to be with them?"

I shifted uncomfortably "Not exactly... its complicated I'll tell you later" I said which seemed to put her at ease.

Fluttershy who has been very quiet just starring at me spoke up again "Um, Daniel?" she asked

"Yes Fluttershy?  What is it?" I asked

"I was going to say that your cuts and bruises appear to be some nasty injuries and I was going to say that you should try and not do anything to hard or put weight on you in order to try and heal your cuts" she said "You should probably get some rest to"  "I would let you stay here but I don't have any room and the couch is to small for you, not to mention some of my animals might be frightened.  I'm sorry"

I looked at her "Its OK Fluttershy, I understand" I said

"You can come with me" Twilight said "I have a guest room where you can sleep"

I put my hand on her mane as I looked at her and smiled "Thanks Twilight" I said.

As we said our goodbye's to Fluttershy and left I inspected the exterior of the house.  It was a cottage near the forest that I was probably in.  I looked into that forest wondering about those timber wolfs.  As we walked towards Twilight's home we tried to make small talk.  We got to her home that was a tree.  Not a tree house but a literal house carved in the inside of a tree.  As it turns out it was also the towns public library.  As we walked inside Twilight showed me to the guest room where I politely said by and fell on the bed, tired from what had transpired today.  Wondering how I got here; I was in my own world in a fight, there was a lighting storm, after a few minutes there was a bright flash and the next thing I knew i was in a forest.  Just thinking about it gave me a small headache.

I'll figure this out tomorrow I thought Right now I just need some sleep
