I'm your average homeless orphan trying to rough-it on the streets. Well almost ordinary. You see I have some special traits. One being I have wings, literal wings, literal black as night wings and yes I can use them to fly. The other trait are a little harder to explain. I can create a flame, but not just any flame a flame made of the very night sky, with just a thought. You would think this would make my life easier but not, it actually makes my life harder. I have to keep to the shadows so I don't get "discovered" by modern science. I'm 15 my parents died when I was 5 and I have been living on my own since then. I live in a little abandoned warehouse next to a bakery and I get my food from the alley between the warehouse and the bakery. This is the story of the event that changed my life for the better. This is the story of a boy, a mirror, and magical new world. It all started on the worst day of my miserable life. I had just gotten fired from the bakery and was once again without food for the week. As I went in the alley between my warehouse I call home and the bakery I saw something glint in the back of the alley. When I went to investigate I saw the glint was coming from a small gap in the back of the alley wall. As I then turn around I see two people I really didn't want to see right now. The two customers I had yelled at earlier and also the two guys I had been bullied by every day since the day I had first started working at the bakery. I prayed that they would just keep walking and not see me, but to no avail. They looked right at me and laughed. I looked around for any escape and saw none. Then I remembered the gap in the wall behind me and realized that they were large enough that it would take them a few minutes to squeeze through and I could slip through easily. I quickly slip through the gap and enter the room behind the gap. As I look around the room I realize that I have just trapped myself in an empty room barren of all but a a tall mirror. I run to escape the room I had just trapped myself in only to be stopped dead in my tracks 200 pounds of snarling angry beefy man. Then giving up all hope I slide into a sitting position against the wall. Suddenly I remembered something I had read in an old book I had found in the alley a few days earlier. Some mirrors are just gateways to other worlds. Praying that I was right I push against the mirror's surface, and burst through the other side! Midnight LunacyAs Midnight tumbled through to the other side of the mirror he quickly took in his surroundings. He had stumbled into a large room with two thrones and a long red carpet with large windows in a row on either side of the carpet. As he got up from his position on the floor he quietly said "h-hello?". Then feeling a sudden movement behind him he whirled around and came face to face with a horse like creature slightly smaller than a horse with features much like that of the equestrian creatures save for the mane looked like the night sky and seemed to flow with an abundance of power and energy. The coat was a dark blue and it's eyes an intelligent deep green. It also had a pair of wings and a horn on it's head and it appeared to be wearing a crown dark as night on it's head. Then the creature did something Midnight had not expected at all. "Who and what are you creature? How did you come to be in the castle at this late hour without my knowledge?" it asked in a steady and calm voice. Midnight recovering from the shock of hearing this creature speak and in his language no less replied with "I'm Midnight Fire and I am a human. As for where I came from I can tell you I came through the mirror." He said pointing at the tall mirror to his side. "But who are you, where am I, and how can you speak?" asked a rather strained and scared Midnight. "I apologize my name is Princess Luna. You are in Equestria, and as for how I can speak, well it is something everyone save for youngest of foals can do." said Princess Luna with a sigh. At that moment much to Midnight's embarrassment his stomach growled so loud he was sure Luna had heard it. "I'm sorry." Midnight said sheepishly to Luna. Then much to Midnight's surprise Luna chuckled and said "Come with me we will get you something to eat and while we do so we can speak more about you and your world." Luna then turned and started walking down a hall Midnight had not seen in his previous investigation of the room. Midnight quickly followed her. Midnight NightmaresAs Midnight and Luna got something to eat from the kitchen they talked a great deal about many things; about the bullies he had fought; about the orphanage he had lived in for a few months before the event that caused him to run away, and they even talked about what it was like living on his own all those years. Pretty soon though it got late enough that they had to sleep so they left for Luna's chambers. Luna insisted that Midnight sleep in the bed with her, but concerned that the nightmares that always plagued his sleep would cause him to kick or hit her he politely refused and made a small bed on the floor. Soon the peaceful breathing of his companion had him drifting off to sleep little did he know his dreams were being watched. As Midnight slipped into his dreams he landed in his parents old apartment. Great, it just had to be this dream. He sighed and started to watch as the events that changed his life unfolded before his eyes 10 years after their happening. First a knock came at the door he saw but didn't hear his father's warning to his mother. his mother then took him in her arms and hid in a closet in the hall. Then they heard a bang as Midnight's innocence in life was torn from him. The man who had just shot his father came in the room and hearing his mother crying shot through the door of the closet. The man then opened the door to see a child only 5 maybe 6 years old and his mother dead at his feet. The man lowered his gun to shoot the last person in the world who could stop him when the man heard the child say, "Die, just drop dead you BASTARD!!!!". Then suddenly the young rage filled child was on top of him hands blazing with light and power."JUST DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The young child screamed as he proceeded to destroy the evil that had killed his parents, hoping beyond hope that he would wake up and find his parents alive and well. Suddenly a voice in the darkness spoke. "Midnighit?" The voice snapped Midnight out of his dark past. "What Luna, how are you here?" asked a distraught Midnight. "I am here because I watch all dreams." Luna answered as her body took form in the dream. "Why do you dream of this sad event?" asked the curious mare. "I dream this because this is the night it happened, this was the night my parents died."said Midnight. "But how do you know that this is what happened here?" asked Luna still not making the connection. "The child, look at his eyes then look at mine."said the young human child. "I don't see what your eyes have to....do...with" Luna was going to say this but had started to make the connection. The two children had the same eyes exactly the same eyes save for one had a sadness the other only was just feeling. "You're the child." The shock of this revelation evident on her face as the mare tried to comprehend the truth of this revelation. As Midnight braced himself against the onslaught of "YOU MONSTER!" that he was sure was to come something happened he was NOT expecting. Luna rushed to his side and pulled him in a tight embrace. "You poor thing and you were only 5 years old. It's okay I'll take care of you from now on you don't have to go back to that horrible place if you don't want to I'll take care of you. I-i-if-if you want me to that is." Said the young mare suddenly subconscious. "Yes, of course I'd like that very much." Said Midnight not daring to hope that this was real. "We will talk more about this when you wake up okay, you just stay right here."said Luna "Momma's going to take care of you." Whispered Luna as she left her new son behind. Midnight All A Dream?Luna wakes up to see the young human child she had adopted in the dreamscape and smiles when she sees the hopeful grin plastered on his face. I wonder if he thinks that was all a dream. I guess I should wake him up and find out. Luna gets out of bed and gently shakes him awake. "Huh?" says Midnight as he stretches and sits up. Looking around he spotted Luna and smiled. He hadn't smiled like this in years. "Good morning sleepy head." Luna says smiling playfully at him. "Good morning." said Midnight with a yawn. Then Luna asked him "So, did you have a good dream?". She had a strange look on her face when she asked him this so Midnight replied with a cautious "Yes." "So, what did you dream about?" asked Luna. "Um it's complicated." said Midnight. He dare not hope that his dream had been real in any way. "Really? So complicated like say; I see the nightmare you have been having for years and adopt you?"asked Luna. Then Luna burst out laughing at the look on his face. "H-h-how did you know?" Midnight asked as he gave her a flabbergasted look. "I am the Princess of the night I can see and enter any creatures dreams." answered the navy blue mare. "Does this mean?" Midnight asks not even daring to finish the sentence for fear he was wrong. "Yes, if you wish you can stay here with me." answers Luna. Upon her uttering those words a flame made up of the very sky she pushed into existence every night engulfed her and her son. "Son!" Luna cries out suddenly fearful. "It's alright Mom." she hears her son say as he appears out of the flame. "I control this flame. See?" Midnight says as he wills the flame to disperse. "I'm sorry but I lost control of the flame due to how emotional I was." said Midnight. "Okay just try not to let it happen again you scared me." said Luna. "Come on." said Luna walking to the door. "Where are we going?" asked Midnight. He was still a little worried nobody had ever just shook off his powers like that. "We are going to see an air show." said Luna dramatically. Midnight and the DecisionAs Midnight approached the two enormous doors he started to get the jitters. He was about to enter the throne room where Princess Celestia would be judging whether or not he would be allowed to stay in Equestria from now on. As he walked toward the giant ornate gold doors they seemed to open on their own. Midnight took a large gulp and entered the throne room to be judged. As midnight drew closer to the two thrones he overheard the two princesses talking about him. "I will discuss the matter no further little sister." said Celestia with a tone of finality. " But sister must he really be-" said Luna suddenly getting cut off by Celestia mid sentence. " No sister my decision is final." Said Celestia. As Midnight drew closer still Celestia suddenly spoke to him. "I don't know why my sister was so persistent on this matter human, But you clearly have moved her in some fashion. You should know that is not such an easy feat to achieve human you have impressed me." said Celestia. "As you know me and my sister have been discussing your fate such as whether you shall stay in Equestria or you will go back to your world, and I have come to my decision. I have decided that it would be best if you leave and go back to your own world." said Celestia dramatically. "NO!! Please don't send me back I despise that world. No one there understands me like you or Luna do. Please I beg you let me stay I will do any thing you ask even if I have to be put in the dungeon for the rest of my life please don't send me back. I can't bear to be alone again." said Midnight desperate to stay. "No. My decision is final now leave I will open a portal for you to go home through." as soon as Celestia said this a gold swirling portal appeared next to Midnight. As Midnight started to walk through they all heard a large BOOM come from the hall and the portal closed. Midnight AirshowSoon Luna and Midnight left the castle together. Luna let Midnight climb on her back and they then flew off together for the airshow. As they neared Cloudsdale Luna thought of something that made her a little worried. "Midnight can you stand on a cloud?"asked Luna. "Maybe in this world, I don't really know if I can or not to tell the truth." said Midnight a little concerned at this thought. "Why do you ask Mom?" Midnight asked Luna. "We should see if you can or not before the show."said Luna changing course and heading for a cloud lower down. Then as Luna flew up beside the cloud Midnight jumped off land gently but solidly on the cloud below. Luna gasps when the cloud supports him. "Looks like the clouds here catch me too."said Midnight then he busted out laughing at the expression on his Mom's face and started rolling around laughing on the cloud. Curiously the cloud followed his movements. "So Mom, now can we go to the airshow?" asked Midnight. Luna remembered that she was a Princess and closed her mouth. Then she said "Sure Midnight, let's go.". Midnight then climbed onto her back and they resumed their flight to the airshow. They soon arrived and took their seats next to Luna's sister. "What is the meaning of bringing this creature here sister?" asked Celestia looking at the young human before her. "We shall explain later sister right now I would like to enjoy the show." said Luna for the show had indeed started as they had walked in. "So Midnight what do you think?" Luna asked chuckling at her son's reaction. "It's beautiful."said Midnight as his crimson eyes followed the flyers every move. He was truly awestruck at the grace of their flight. Then something terrible happened. The pony who was flying was struck by lightning. Midnight gasped and ran quickly and jumped over the rail. Midnight fell. Controlling his fall through the sky he tucked in his arms and legs and started to spin like a top on steroids. Gaining speed he outmatched the free falling pony's speed. He grabbed hold of the pony and let his wings burst forth from his back. Then flapping as hard and fast as his large wings could go he slowed and then reversed the free fall. A few seconds later he had flown his way back up to the cloud theater. Everyone stared in awe at his midnight wings, but he payed them no mind as his focus was on the injured pony. Pulling something out of his dimensional backpack he said "Here drink this." the pony drank the healing tonic. Then two hospital ponies arrived and took the injured pony away. Luna landed next to him as her sister princess Celestia checked on the injured pony and then flew over to where the young human stood. "Come with me." said Celestia calmly. Then the two sisters and the human child flew off to the royal palace.
