Sunset Shimmer has been living in the human world for so long, that she's beginning to feel human herself. Going into her senior year in Canterlot High, she returns to the human world anxious to see her friends and make new ones with the new outlook she has on friendship.

The start of the school years marks the start of her greatest battle though. A young girl is kidnapped, oddly right out of her room. At the same time a strange rumor about mirrors is being spread all over town. How are these two related, and will Sunset be able to protect her friends? Not alone, nor will the magic of friendship be enough this time. In order to fight the shadows looming over her town, she'll have to awaken to a new power.
