Talking Ponies and Dirty Needles

As Jason continued through the jungle, he was beginning to notice that the shoe-prints had ended about an hour ago, and he had absolutely no idea where he was heading. Jason had grown tired of just letting his natural sense of direction guide him, which was honestly crap, and took out his map. He took a moment to study the map, which was the one they were using to navigate their way to Hawaii and, tried to find out where it was they washed up.
“So we were here when we capsized,” said Jason as he pointed to a spot on the map.
“so we have to be on… The Johnston Atoll!” Now since Jason knew where they had washed up at, he felt as though he was a little more in control of the situation. So he continued searching for his friends.
The reason why Jason was so excited was because the Johnston Atoll was now off limits to civilians, and the only people allowed on the island were staff and researchers. This was due to the radiation that was a result of Gov. testing gone awry. So he figured just find his friends, find a staff member or researcher, explain their situation and hitch a ride back home. Jason felt just gained the advantage of knowing where they were, than before when he was clueless.

3:53 P.M.
After having finished all of the tasks listed on her to-do list, which she filled out the night before,Twilight had decided she was going to rest a bit, so she picked a random book up from her extensive collection and began to read it.She was halfway through the first page when Spike burst through the doors that separated her room from the rest of the castle.
“Twilight you need to look at this! It says it’s urgent!.” Spike said with worry apparent in his voice.
Twilight had levitated the scroll from claws and it inspected it. Upon inspection she noticed that instead of the regular red wax seal, the seal on this scroll had ‘URGENT’ imprinted upon it. With that she opened it and began reading it aloud.
Dear Twilight,
There have been reports by some of the park rangers who patrol the forest that resides on the northern outskirts of Baltimare, that there was a pack of five unidentified creatures roaming the forest, seemingly headed towards the city.
Now I've called this to your attention because of how resilient you and your friends have proven to be. You have never failed me yet, and hope you will deliver when I ask of you and the other elements to go and gather these creatures. Now they seem to have some intelligence, for they have been heard repeating the name ‘Jason’ ; what I suggest is to try to converse with them; prove their intelligence.
I ask this task of you and your friends because I believe you and the Elements are more than capable of handling this situation. I would not forgive myself if one of my citizens are hurt or if one of my citizens attacks these creatures, which are clearly in great distress.
Here are the characteristics to look out for; given to me by the park rangers. “Taller than a average pony; around five to six hooves tall, wearing what appears to be clothes with varying colors, and slightly tanned hairless skin, the only hair if any, is located on the creatures head, and it's most distinct feature is that the creature is bi-pedal.”
Since these creatures appear to be distressed, do not approach with hostility, nor try to corner or confine them, for I fear they could attack if threatened.
I hope for you the best of luck and please be careful.
-Princess Celestia.
“Oh my this is urgent...,” said Twilight as she pondered her next move. “alright Spike, I need you to close down the library early for me while I go inform the girls of what is going on. After that's done we’ll regroup here and you can come along.”
“ I’ll get right to it boss!” Spike said as he got to work.
(Riley and the others)
4:36 P.M.
“Jason! Jason can your hear us?! Jason!” The group of five friends were quickly losing hope. They had been searching since they had washed up, which was at 10:26 in the morning, and were tired, hungry, and feeling defeated.
“Guys just stop! It’s no use! We are just walking blindly through this stupid forest, yelling Jason’s name like a broken fucking record!” said Oliver having already lost hope, and come to terms with Jason’s death. Everyone else had not, and were shocked at Oliver’s sudden outburst, still clinging to whatever hope they had left.
“Besides, he had all of those guns and crap attached to him, I wouldn't be surprised if he sunk the moment the ship went belly up.” Everyone stared slack jawed unable to believe what they were hearing. Just then Riley hit that assumption out of the ball-park.
“No.. we are not just-just going to give up after a day. Jason didn't give up when he left Vass’s camp, no he continued on, and he kept going ‘till we were on that boat back home. We aren't just going to throw that all away, forget what Grant and Jason did, and weep about being alive now.” Riley was surprised with his own outburst, needless to say everyone else was too.
Even Oliver was taken aback and felt extremely guilty, for.. Riley was right. Jason didn't give up, on any of them. Once Grant was gone, Jason was thrust into the role of leader. He risked his life for everyone one of them, and he deserved better.
“You know what Riley.. you’re right.Jason didn't give up on us, I was wrong to say what I said. I’m sorry, I hope you can forgive me man.” Oliver sincerely apologized for saying what he had said.
“Alright so c’mon let’s keep loo-” before Riley could finish he was interrupted by Liza.
“Riley do you think we could rest here? I mean... were all tired and we can’t be of any help to Jason hungry and tired.” Liza said hoping to get Riley comply, because to be honest, they all were tired and hungry, and a little rest couldn't hurt.
“But what if-” yet again he was interrupted, but this time it was Daisy, reinforcing Liza’s plea.
“Just for tonight please, and tomorrow, first thing we do is look for Jason, okay?” Daisy proposed the idea to Riley, just wanting to rest after a long day of walking aimlessly through some forest, yelling Jason’s name like he was some sort of lost puppy.
“I guess we can rest for the night, that is if you’re all really that tired.” everyone shot their hands up into the air, signifying that they were all tired and would love to rest for the night.
“Okay.. I need Liza and Daisy to gather some wood for a fire, before the night and cold comes.” “And I need Keith and Oliver to come with me to gather some wood and leaves to get us off the ground and away from things like ticks.” Riley commanded as he got to work, gathering wood that would act as a sort of poor mans bed frame.
When Riley had finished making 5 bed ‘frames’, he had some time to think about what happened. He had just.. become leader, no protest, nothing. This must be what Jason had felt like back on Rook Island. This realization made Riley proud, in the sense that leadership came so easily, it almost felt instinctual.

7: 56 P.M.
After 3 more hours of walking non-stop since his discovery of where they had washed up, and seeing nothing but animals that didn't belong in a jungle, Jason was getting groggy, hungry, and annoyed. A little happiness can only go so far, and that happiness lost it’s effectiveness about two hours ago. So he injected himself with a Medicine syringe; it wasn't long until the effects kicked in, and boy did they kick.
Once the sun was down, Jason was already dreading having to navigate this jungle with only the moon’s light to guide him. But once darkness hit the landscape, there, off in the distance were lights, artificial lights, lights that can only be made by humans. Jason was as happy as he could be at that moment, he thought that if he could see them, his friends probably did too. So Jason took a Sprint Boost syringe, and quickly set off towards the lights. He started shouting trying to get the attention of anyone who could hear him.
“HELLO! RILEY! LIZA! GUYS IT’S ME JASON. I’M HERE!” Jason yelled hoping to catch the attention off a staff member or his friends, as he ran toward his goal.
(Twilight)
7:56 P.M.
“Twilight I think we should just tell Celestia that we couldn't find that pack of creatures. I’m sure that she’ll understand.” Applejack tried to assure her friend, but Twilight wasn't having any of it.
“ No we can’t do that! Celestia trusted us, thinking that we were more than capable of handling this situation. We can’t let her down!” Twilight replied in her defense.
“Twilight, we can’t find these creatures without the sun. Let’s just wait until tomorrow, then we can actually have a chance to see them.” said Rarity trying to reason with the purple alicorn.
“No, you know what Twilight's right. We can’t just give up and risk the chance of one of these things finding Baltimare, let alone a pack of five!” said Rainbow defending Twilight.
“I don’t know Rainbow what if they aren't even dangerous, and are just lost or scared?” said Fluttershy feeling sympathetic for these unknown creatures.
“ Yeah what she said.” Pinkie said agreeing with Fluttershy.
“Girls I get what you mean but, even Celestia was unsure of what would happen if these creatures interacted with the city’s occupants! We can’t let them reach Baltima-” Twilight was cut off as she and her friends heard something yell.
“HELLO! RILEY! LIZA! GUYS IT’S ME JASON. I’M HERE!” followed by the sound of running. But this running was weird, it was as if the creature was walking on two legs not four.
“ Hey wasn't Jason the name the letter said the pack of creatures was heard repeating?” Rainbow asked Twilight curious.
“Twi-” Rainbow was promptly cut off as a orange hoof was shoved in front of her mouth, followed by a demeaning shush. Rainbow gave a huff of annoyance, but stayed quiet none-the-less.
After a moment of silence, came the same voice that they heard before.
“HELLO?! CAN YOU GUYS HEAR ME?! IT’S JASON!”
“There it is!” said Twilight as she said her hoof following the dark silhouette as it ran toward Baltimare with impressive speed. Everypony followed Twilight’s hoof and also saw the creature, as it headed toward Baltimare.
They all ran after the creature hoping to catch up to it before it reached Baltimare, not knowing how the city's residents would react to something they haven't seen before.
As they were running after the creature, they noticed how fast it really was, they knew that they needed to do something to stop it before it reached it's destination.
Upon realizing that they weren't going to catch up to the creature by hoof, Twilight resorted to a more drastic measure and put up a magenta wall in front of the creature, hoping it would be forced to turn around and face them so they could speak to it.
(Jason)
As Jason continued running he heard something besides his feet hitting the ground and his own breathing. It sounded like a couple of horses galloping behind him. Now he wasn't a zoologist, but even he knew that horses didn't belong on a tropical island. Before he had the chance to look over his shoulder to see what was chasing him, a purple colored wall just popped up out of nowhere and startled him, making him lose his balance and fall, his head landing on an exposed tree root which consequently knocked him out.
8:12 P.M.
As Jason awoke he heard a multitude of voices, he could tell they were mostly female but couldn't make out what they were saying, due to the dull ringing in his ears, and his vision being blurred and red wasn't helping either. So he got up, brushed himself off, and injected himself with one of the Medicine Syringes which he refilled earlier. A moment passed before it kicked in, but once it did he heard one of the female voices speak again but he could understand it this time.
“Um… hello?” it said, awkwardly trying to start a conversation. Jason was facing away from the voice, so he turned around as he spoke wanting to see who it was that was talking to him.
“Oh thank god. I was starting to think that no one heard me yelling-” Jason froze mid sentence only to notice that there wasn't a person there at all, just 6 differently colored ponies, staring at him with big round eyes. An awkward moment of silence passed before Jason spoke up.
“ I knew I shouldn't have used that dirty needle.” was all Jason managed to say before fainting and, falling face first onto the ground. Some time passed before Twilight broke the awkward silence.
“Spike take a letter.” said Twilight; confused out of her mind.
