Dash from Death

Pinkie woke up, ready to start a brand new day. But first, she had to check on Rainbow Dash! She scurried to the basement, ready to have a good time with the most loyal friend she ever knew. She made her way through the hallway, down the stairs, and to the pantry where she found her secret trapdoor. She unlocked it and went down the steps to her “cellar of celebration”. Of course Dashie was right where Pinkie left her. “Such a patient friend too!” she mused to herself.
“But what’s this? You’re frowning!” And indeed she was. The smile had shifted overnight from a plastered on smile to a look as if Dash had been lied to.
“Now don’t be upset Dashie! I brought you some more cupcakes! And in just two days you will get to say hi to Spitfire! I know she’s something of an idol for you, so I thought I’d move her number up the list just for you! Aren’t you excited?!” Rainbow Dash’s face drooped even more. The disappointed frown now turned into a hateful scowl. Almost all color had disappeared from her mane and body as well, turning both into a dark and dreary shade of grey. The sight was beginning to reach Pinkie, who’s face contorted into an anxious expression.
She quickly shook off the feeling and resumed her “normal” behavior. “Looks like you really do need some of that liquid rainbow, dontcha Dashie? Well good thing some came in today! Those ponies sure can deliver mail fast! I’ll be right back!”
Pinkie Pie rushed back to the main floor and picked up a multicolored jar from the counter, just as quickly as she left, Pinkie was back in the basement with a gleeful look in her eyes and a jar in her mouth.
But although Pinkie was back…Rainbow Dash was gone…
Confused, she set the jar on a nearby table and started to look around the room for her missing friend. “Dashie? Where did you go, you silly filly! Don’t you want to look fantastic?”
A low growl emanated from a pile of “cupcake scraps,” causing the pink pony to turn towards the curious noise. “Oh Dash,” she giggled. “It’s not time for hide and seek! Come on out! I have some fresh cupcakes and some of that liquid rainbow to brighten your mood up!” Knowing her cover had been blown, Rainbow Dash cursed herself before attempting to leap at Pinkie Pie from her improvised hideout.
She sprung from the pile, missing Pinkie Pie by just an inch. She quickly whipped around to face Pinkie, but by then she was already somehow at the other side of the room, laughing uncontrollably.
“You’re going to have to try harder than that to catch me! And I thought you were good at tag!”
The lack of seriousness in Pinkie’s tone just served to infuriate Dash further. “This isn’t a game! You took everything from me! Now I’m going to take that smile off your face--permanently!” She flexed her wings, which pulled at her sides from the stitches attaching them to her. Then, with speed unheard of even for herself, Rainbow Dash flew at Pinkie Pie, resulting in a miniature rainboom that was as colorless as she was.
“Oof!” Rainbow dash slammed headfirst into Pinkie, pinning her against the wall. Pinkie’s eyes narrowed, but a smile stayed on her face.
“Now Dashie, that’s no way to treat a friend! How would you like it if I went into your house and trashed everything! You look like you need a smile on your face!”
“Enough talking! You’re going down!” Rainbow Dash lifted her head and slammed it into Pinkie’s, or rather, where Pinkie Pie’s head had just been. Once again she had managed to seemingly vanish from existence. She peeled her head from the concrete wall and looked around scanning for any signs of the pink pony. Then a familiar tune hit Dash’s ears.
Let it begin!
Just give me a joyful grin, grin, grin!
And you fill me with good cheer!
The singing voice seemed to come from everywhere at once. The fact that Pinkie had escaped angered the undead Dash, but the joyful and mocking singing infuriated her.
“Come out! Then you can see how much I will grin when you have gone through all the things I had to!”
A disappointed sigh came from somewhere in the room. “You really are being a party pooper Dashie. I guess you won’t be able to meet Spitfire after all… In fact, no more cupcakes for you either! Not until you say you’re sorry!”
“Me?! Sorry?! For what! Not lasting as long as you wanted me to during the torture?! For trying to right a wrong that you did?! NO! I’m not sorry! If anyone should be sorry it’s you! I trusted you! You were my best friend! And what do you do? You electrocute me, you mutilate me, and you make me watch as you harvest my organs!” The rage in her voice was overwhelming, causing the entire room to subtly vibrate from the sheer volume of her anger. “You should count yourself lucky that I still have some mercy left in me! You will get to meet your end peacefully, a luxury that was never granted to me.”
“Sheesh! You know what? I think it’s time to call this party off! I try to have some fun and hopefully make you laugh…but you just get all angry at me for it! You’re an unappreciative friend you know that? I’m just going to have to go somewhere else now! Maybe there my friends will be more fun.”
“Oh no you don’t! I’m not done yet!” Using all her speed, Rainbow Dash searched all over the basement, not even a stray pink hair was to be found. THUD! Rainbow looked around for the source of the noise. “The trapdoor!” Quickly she rushed up the stairs to the recently closed trapdoor. She rammed right into it, but the firm oak door didn’t budge. Hoof steps sounded from just above, growing fainter by the second. “Come back here!” Continually she rammed at the obstinate barrier. It slowly gave, but still did not open for a good 8 minutes.
Rainbow Dash searched all of Sugarcube Corner, even though in her gut Dashie knew that Pinkamena Diane Pie was far-gone by now. “Great…now I may never get another chance at her. Knowing that pony, she could be on the other side of Equestria by now. How am I going to find her now?” Further enraged, she took her anger out on the surrounding items until her mind cleared, and an interesting thought entered it.
“She may have not even looked for me when I was gone…but I will admit her smarts could help me.” A long, drawn-out sigh escaped her lips. “I guess it’s time to visit my local library. But first, I need to find some sort of disguise. I don’t want any unwanted attention, and I’m pretty sure an undead Pegasus would attract a lot of that.” Relatively quickly she found a long, black hooded cloak and put it on. Now nothing other than a heavily shaded face would be seen by any bystanders, unless they really got a good look at her.
With her simple cover on, and a clear goal in mind, Rainbow Dash set off to Twilight’s Library. To get some answers, and hopefully a way to locate Pinkie Pie.
