The Drunk and the Dentist
Celestia's sun was glistening the rooftops of Canterlot as the regal ponies where going about there daily business. Most were sitting under the pink and purple striped umbrellas that were attached to most of the tables around the city, and some were drinking there tea as they chatted with their fellow gentlcolts.
One mare however, was staring intently with her blue eyes at the station for the train to come. As her white-blue mane blew back a bit as a breeze came by she scratched her light blue coat anxiously for her ride to her new home. She soon, however got tired of waiting and sat down, staring at the clouds as she thought about what transpired the last few days, finally her getting her dentist degree after over 1,000 moons worth of studying and just so happening to find a store for rent in a town called Ponyvi-
She suddenly snapped to attention as a stack of steam rose above the hill, the train quickly screeched to a halt as it entered the station. A brown-coated stallion trotted out as the last puff of steam came out of the funnel, when he made sure nopony else was at the station we turned to the mare and asked for her ticket. She obliged and gave the gold lined piece of paper to him. After a few seconds of analyzing the ticket he smiled and said, "Welcome to The Friendship Express Miss Colgate!"
Colgate smiled back, made sure all her belongings were all in her saddle bag, and walked onto the train's red carpeted floor. As she found her seat she noticed the train was already moving, and as she looked out the window she sighed and said sleepily, "This will be quiet a journey,"
Then the dentist fell into a lovely sleep.
As ponies past the local bar they might have noticed a snoring coming from a wooden wine barrel in the ally of the building. A snoring coming from a particularly plum colored mare with a raspberry pink tail hanging out. It wasn't until a squirrel tried too sleep on her hoof that was sticking out was when she woke up.
She yawned and smacked her lips together. When she realized this wasn't her bed she instinctively started too kick herself over. "Need some help Berry Punch?" asked the familiar voice of Carrot Top echoing into the barrel.
"No thanks Carrot, I got this." shouted Berry as she continued rocking the barrel back and forth.
Carrot Top shrugged and walked away, she knew Berry Punch would get out. It certainly wasn't the first time she saw her in one of these situations. Berry managed to get all four hooves out and was walking awkwardly away, bumping into everything as she struggled too get the barrel off her body. She soon fixed the problem however when she tripped over a rock, breaking the barrel. She stood up and looked around after her eyes got used to the light of the sun.
She was still in Ponyville thankfully, the same hay rooftops and wooden walls, the sky was clear except for a few clouds, and on the floor she in front of her there was a...wine bottle! Unopened too! She tackled it and held her mouth open waiting for the contents within to come out. After waiting a little longer than acceptable she realized there was nothing in the bottle. Disappointed she threw the bottle on the ground not caring if it smashed.
She galloped with a annoyed look into the bar, her bar, commonly known as Punch's Bar and Winery and slammed the door. She grabbed a seat on one of the near stools at the front counter and closed her eyes. All she could remember from last night is the faces of ponies in shock from something she said. What that was she couldn't remember.
She looked up to observe the room, all seven tables were clean and had their chairs tucked in orderly, the bar's counter was clear of wine and cider and all the lanterns were lit to hold back the darkness. Everything looked very well kept. That confused Berry, most days this place look like an Ursa Major's cave. It was never this, tidy. She only ever cleaned the place when-
The sound of glass moving made her squeak with surprise. She jumped to the floor and turned to the direction she heard the sound, the wine cellar. She didn't know why she hadn't heard it before but now it was as clear as the crystal empire. Berry grabbed a cider bottle from the behind the counter and slowly crept to the door, hoping she wouldn't make the floor creak.
As she looked behind the door her eyes went from fear to relief as she saw it was nothing but a pink coated filly with the palm tree cutie mark brushing up some shards of broken glass into a pan. This pink filly, of course, was Berry's sister Piña Colada. Colada noticed the plum coated mare and stopped what she was doing, walked over too her sister with a look of anger.
"Where have you been?" shouted Piña with as much strength as she could find.
"Wha...what do you-?" stammered the now sober with shock Berry Punch. It was no doubt her kid sister was mad at her, but why?
"I had to clean the bar all night! I searched everywhere when you ran and what do you do? Show up exactly when I finish up! I am missing a whole day of school just so you wont get in trouble!" The little fillys voice almost reached a glass breaking pitch.
Berry felt the guilt being laid upon her and started to tear up, she know what her sister was talking about. Ever since there parent died Berry was in charge of her sis, but she was warned a few months ago by the Equestrian Child Protection Agency that if she got in trouble and there was hard evidence of it, Pina would be taken away to a foster home. Whenever Berry got in a fight the two would always try to cover it up as an accident or by another excuse.
Colada saw her sister start to cry and tried to calm herself down for her sisters sake. She patted the mare's head and looked her straight in her big violet eyes, "It looked pretty bad, you were rambling on and on and then started accusing people of random things. Even got into a fight with Lucky. Threw you out the window, then you ran. I told the ECP agents this morning that you were fighting with real reason. It took some effort but they finally gave up and believed me," she chuckled softly, "guess all that lying I see you do actually paid off."
Berry wiped her eyes of the tears and stared at her sister. Honestly she wasn't sure who was in charge sometimes, "Pina, I just wanted too tell you your my sister and that I will always love yo-." For the secound time today her thoughts were thrown off, this time buy a train whistle pulling into the station.
