Chapter 1: The Meeting and the Sleeping

Slowly Mike Schmidt woke up and groaned as he got to his knees and leaned onto his elbows. He could already feel a headache coming to him and it caused him to growl in annoyance. Finally he was able to get to his feet and he looked around his surroundings to get his bearings.

He was in a very strange looking library, with the books being in slots that seemed to be carved into the wall, which seemed to be a strange pink wood. There also seemed to be stumps inside that served as tabled and pedestals for books and maybe writing. Then he noticed the stairs that lead to a small empty loft with a simple blue bed.

He suddenly felt something flutter behind him and whipped around and saw...no one. “I must be going crazy...great.” Mike sighed but suddenly felt the flutter again and turned his head and almost passed out. Sprouting from his back were two large bat like wings with the leather membrane being a dark brown and the muscle being black.

He reached for the leathery wings and brushed the membrane and shivered when he felt the new nerves and also felt a small blush on his cheeks. He quickly pulled his hand back and started to search for the muscle to control the wings.He then felt them flutter once again and started to stretch his new muscles causing his wings to extend.

He flapped his new wings and couldn’t help but grin. “This...is actually kind of cool…” He said in a deep voice. He then looked around the library and walked over to a shelf that had brown covering and a golden horse with a horn with a blue eye and two golden bindings on it and the cover read:

“Hmmm so this is the T section…” Mike let out a snicker and walked over to a random section and put it there. “I am such an asshat.” He chuckled. He then walked over to the door and looked through it...and quickly slammed it shut and his eyes were wide open and mouth agape.

“What the hell were those things!?” He yelled into the library. He snuck over to the window and looked through and saw the strange creatures.  They walked on two legs like him but had hooves and fur in different colors. They had hair that looked like they belonged in an anime and some had horns while some had feathered wings.

The strange part though was there seemed to be more women than males, and not just seeing more women than men but that there was almost no men in sight. Mike moved away from the window and back towards the door. He gave a sigh and reached for the door before pushing it open and waiting for the screams.

None came.

He opened his eyes and saw no one was panicking, most of them were just going about their lives. Mike just walked outside and slowly closed the door. He looked up and saw that the library was actually a tree. “...A’ight.” Mike just shrugged and started walking into the town.

As Mike walked he noticed that he was getting looks, not bad ones just looks of curiosity, at his wings and eyes. He knew his eyes were strange, not having any color but a black dot for a pupil. He just shrugged off the looks and looked around the town until he walked up to a passing women.

She had long, pink hair and cream yellow fur. She was wearing a green sweater and blue jeans. She had light blue eyes and an impressive bust, Mike trying his best not to look, and was as tall as him and on her back were two feathered wings. “Hi there, do you know where I can find town hall?” Mike asked with as much of a pleasant tone as possible which was not much.

She looked at him and seemed to be startled by his eyes but shook her head and quickly grew her shy expression once more. “U-Um...Yeah its d-down Mane street.” She pointed down a street. “Just g-go down there and t-then take a left, you should b-be there in a few m-minutes.”

Mike gave the girl a smile and nodded, “Thanks for the help.” He started to walk away but felt a hand grab his shoulder. He looked back and saw the girl with a small smile.

“By the w-way, My n-names F-F-Fluttershy.” She said and Mike nodded before introducing himself.

“Names Mike Schmidt.” She gave a small nod and her smile grew, “Well I need to get going, see you around Fluttershy.” They said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. Mike took the directions he had been given and soon found the large building.

He then walked inside and looked around and saw nothing of much importance. He walked up to the receptionist. “Excuse m-”

“Mayor Mare will see you now.” The receptionist interrupted with a bored tone. Mike was about to argue but just sighed and walked over to the door that read ‘Mayor Mare’. He knocked on the door and heard a woman's voice call out,

“Come in!” Mike walked in and saw Mayor Mare. She had pale fur and grey hair and was wearing a light tan suit with a blue tie and was wearing glasses. Mike sat on the chair across from the desk and shifted around to get his wings comfortable. “Hello sir, my name is Mayor mare but you may just call me Mayor.”

‘Which kind?’ Mike thought to himself. “Its nice to meet you Mrs. Mayor, I’m Mike Schmidt and I just came from-”

“Oh greetings Mr. Shmidt! We have been waiting for you!” Mike looked at her in confusion but she didn’t seem to notice as she shifted through some files. “Ah yes, you are to guard the Golden Oaks Library.” Mike was even more confused but quickly his it as Mayor looked up.

“You are of course aloud to sleep inside the library, oh and a pony named Twilight Sparkle will arrive soon so she will be renting the room out for today.” Mike nodded. “Here is your pay for this job and I thank you for taking the job.” Mike gave her a smile and nodded. She reached under her desk and pulled out a large bag that clinked together.

The moment he grabbed the bag he walked out the office and building and quickly ran to the large tree house and slammed the door close when he entered. “How in the fucking fuck did they know I would be here!? I don’t even know why I’m here! And what does she mean by pony!?” Mike was about to go in full panic mode but quickly did his breathing exercises.

“Its okay...its okay...let just see what they paid m-holy shit!” Opening the bag he saw a ton of golden coins. “...Either this means I’m super rich or I am piss poor.” Mike just sighed and walked over to a chair and sat down. He laid his head on a table and slowly let sleep take him.

Mike was raised from sleep by a hand shaking his shoulder gently. He slowly opened his eyes and heard four surprised gasps. He looked up and the first thing he saw were the two large breasts of Fluttershy. He quickly looked up and saw she was looking down at him with a worried look in her eyes.

“Are y-you okay Mike?” She asked in her sweet voice. Mike slowly got up and stretched all his limbs, wings included. He heard two more gasps that were followed by whispering.

“Yeah, I’m fine Flutters.” He then noticed the other four behind her. “Who are they?” He pointed at the four girls behind her. One had purple curled hair with snow white fur and asura blue eyes and was wearing a white dress. The next was completely pink with crazy hair and a hyper looking eyes and had on a yellow shirt and blue shorts.

The next two were both well built, one having orange fur and yellow hair with a band around it and was wearing a blue shirt under a brown jacket and dirty blue jeans and a stetson. The last one looked weirder than them all, rainbow hair, cyan fur and a green shirt with a thundercloud on it.

Just like Flutters she had two wings but were both cyan and she was hovering in the air with them. The white fured girl had a white horn poking from her forehead and the orange and pink one had neither but looked like they could break stone.

‘Wait does that mean I can fly? Sweet.’

“O-Oh, these are my friends. Pinkie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack and Rarity. Girls this is my friend Mike.” Flutters introduced and they all greeted him but Rainbow Dash who just glared at him.

“Your friends with a bat pony!?” She screamed and Flutters grew a scared look. “They are monsters! They suck blood and eat ponies!” Rainbow Dash ranted and the others glared at her.

“Darling please, those are just myths to make bat ponies look bad. I’ll have you know that I have had a few bat pony clients and they were very kind.” Rarity stated.

“Oh please, they are just biding their time to strike.” Rainbow Dash rebuttled.

“Oh give it a rest girly.” Applejack sighed and looked at Mike with a sheepish expression. “Sorry bout that sugarcube.”

“Bah, I’ve had worse insults slung at me, so why are you all here?” He asked and Flutters grew a smile.

“Well you slept through the whole party and we wanted to know if you want to go to the-” She was interrupted by the sound of loud thunder. She let out a yelp and dived into Mike's arms. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow and she grew a sheepish expression and quickly got off.

“Sorry...I-I don’t like t-thunder.” She explained. Everyone jumped when the door suddenly slammed open. Standing there was another girl with purple fur and long dark purple hair with a pink streak going through it. She was wearing a scholar's outfit with black stockings and on her forehead was a horn.

Standing next to her was a small kid who looked male and was wearing blue shorts and a violet jacket and a green shirt underneath. on his cheeks there seemed to be purple...scales? He had green hair that was done up in a mohawk that actually looked pretty cool.

“Quick Spike, we need to find the book quickly!” The girl rushed the small kid, Spike, and started to run through the library. “Ugh! Where is it!” She screamed in frustration. Mike walked over to her and tapped her shoulder. She whipped around and looked at Mike with wide eyes. “Who are you?” She demanded.

“Shut it, what book do you want because you are getting on my nerves.” He growled. He didn’t know why but just being near the girl made him irritated.

“U-Um...The Elements of Harmony: A Reference Guide?” She asked with a small grin.

“You mean this one?” Pinkie asked and held up the book.

“Where did you find that!?” The girl yelled.

“It was under E.” Pinkie answered with a smile.

She and all the others started to go over a plan and then ran outside. Mike just stood in the empty library, fluttering his wings before shrugging and letting out a yawn. “I’mma go take a nap.” He walked upstairs and into the small loft then crawled into the bed and let sleep ease his mind.

He was suddenly woken by the sounds of trumpets and let out a yell before smashing into the floor. “Ugh...ow...thats smarts.” He slowly got up and popped his wings before looking outside and seeing a large party.

“Nope.”

He walked away from the window and went downstairs and sat down on a chair before grabbing a random book and started to read it. “Hmmm...love poison? Sounds stupid.” He continued reading, not noticing the black mass watching him with two white eyes and floating teeth.

“Mikey…”
