Static Sparks (Good Karma)
Interlude: Coping Alicorn
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhen Cole jumped from the roof, Spike returned his attention to Twilight. He reached out and held one of her hands. Her grip tightened around his hand and she pulled him onto the couch. Her arms went around him pulling him close to her. She started mumbling, "I didn't mean to do it. Please, it was an accident." She started crying as she whimpered in her sleep.
Spike wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back. He held her as she started to break down. As he laid there he heard the arm chair move and Zeke grunt. Looking over Spike saw him getting up.
Seeing him looking over, Zeke said, "I'm going to let you guys be alone. Have a heart-to-heart, brother to sister." He walked to the door of the roof and left the building.
Looking back at Twilight he noticed she was awake. Smiling slightly, he said, "Hey, Twilight."
As she looked at Spike, fresh tears started to flow. She lowered her head and buried her face into his chest. "Spike, I did something horrible. I can't take what happened. I-I..." she couldn't continue, afraid of what Spike might think if he found out she killed someone.
"Cole told me Twilight. He told me how you ran into one of those kamikaze Reapers," he told her. Feeling her tense, Spike said, "Twilight, even if you had just levitated him up or teleported him away he would have still blown up. Like I said he was a kamikaze and I know that you know what that means."
She nodded stiffly, still worried how Spike would feel about her ending someones life. She also worried what her friends would think should they find out. She felt Spike tighten the hug. Raising her gaze she saw Spike looking down, with a small smile.
"Twilight you didn't mean to kill him right?" he asked. She shook her head frantically. His smile grew a little wider, as he said, "Then stay calm, Twilight. I can't imagine what your feeling, but you need stay calm. You weren't trying to kill him, you were just trying to knock him out. You couldn't help it, he had explosives after all."
"But the explosives were in his hands," she said, tears still running down her face.
Spike slowly shook his head, "I highly doubt those were the only bombs he had. I mean what if he dropped them or they were knocked out of his hands? He probably had more explosives strapped to him somewhere." He looked at her and saw the worry on her face. "And if you're worried about how I'm going to take it then don't. I'll care about you no matter what. Your my sister and I love you."
Hearing Spike's words, Twilight felt the weight on her heart lighten. She started to relax and slowly drifted back to sleep. Still holding onto her, Spike started to nod off as well. Before he did, he leaned down and kissed Twilight on the forehead. A small smile spread across her face. Spike then let himself fall asleep.
