Luna's Eclipse
Release
Load Full StoryAlone. Princess Luna was alone, locked away in her private chambers. It wasn't her fault. She was trying to tell her sister that she wanted to step out of her shadow, be more important in the balance of Equestria...
Years. For years her sister raised the sun, start the day, so everypony could do things, things like picnics or farming. And what did Luna do? Raise the moon, a stupid ball of rock in the sky that nopony cared about, instead, they only cared about sleeping away her night, her beautiful creation! It seemed pointless. Pointless. She wanted to tell her sister that, but that was the reason she was in this prison, a prison with pillows and blankets, but still a prison.
"Sister, we need to talk." Luna said to her sister. Celestia looked at her, confused.
"What do you mean?"
"We don't want to be in your shadow!" Luna cried, irritated. She expected a response, but her sister just looked at her like she had lost her mind.
"Luna, you are already important, I don't understand this conservation." Celestia's expression looked more cross by the minute.
"Understand!? We raise a huge ball of rock, only for our subjects to sleep! They don't care!" Luna struck her sister in the face. Immediately, guards rushed to Luna and took her to her room.
"Stay here!" one of the guards barked at her, and they slammed the door in front of her. She could even hear them lock the door.
Release. She wanted to release her darkness, her demons. It felt like they were banging at her soul, trying to break free. But she felt that she couldn't. It didn't feel right. Instead, she made up a mantra that she repeated constantly:
"Keep it at bay, resist the urge, don't let the darkness consume us...." She thought it would help her. It didn't. With every word she said, the fear grew. The fear. It hollowed her soul with every frantic heartbeat. It made her wonder about the limits of her sanity, if she could handle the darkness...
NO! Keep repeating the words! "Keep it at bay, resist the urge, don't let the darkness consume us, keep it at bay, resist the urge, don't let the darkness consume us!" SHe sweat bullets.
"Keep it at bay, resist the urge, don't let the darkness consume us, keep it at bay, resist the urge, don't let the darkness consume us!!!" Her voice became more frantic with every syllable. But if she would stop, what would happen? She kept repeating the damned mantra. Memories started to flood her head. The memories. The memories were unbearable.
Luna watched as Celestia raised the sun on the first day of summer, the Summer Sun Celebration.
