Unicorns, especially those in the "upper crust" are required to know certain things if they are to survive there. Manners, fashion sense, pretending to enjoy the company of that one oaf you can't stand; all are important skills to have. However, for the crème de la crème, the true elite, the holy grail of talents to know is a classical instrument. Those who can play are looked up to with both admiration and envy by those who cannot.

Celestia feels that Twilight, having reached her thirteenth year (and final year of high school), is ready to undertake this task, one she is sure the young unicorn can not only manage, but master. Not satisfied to hire just any old, stuck-in-his-ways tutor, she opts to enlist the aid of a high schooler, one lauded as a true sage of the strings. The question is, can Octavia survive having Twilight as her pupil; especially when said pupil develops more than mere feelings of admiration for her tutor?
