The Everfree Forest is overrun with radiation but it has dissipated over the past thousand years. The cause of all this was the Chernobyl explosion.
Chernobyl, Equestria's only known nuclear power plant has just exploded. The ordinary forest that was nearby has been irradiated by radiation and transformed its animals into living nightmares. 1000 years later, Twilight wants to get to the bottom of why the Everfree is the way it is.
