I Can't Sleep

Previous Chapter

As Redheart walked into her room, she sighed. Her day had been busy to say the least. She had dealt with issues and the......new patient. He was a weird one. He liked to...'play' with is food. Well, less his food and more his cutlery. He really liked the cutlery. A lot. He especially liked to stab them into his arm.

As she was about to turn her light off, she heard a knock on her door. Groaning, she got out of her bed and opened her door. Standing in front of her was Pinkamena.

"There's an issue, Ms. Redheart." she said. "That new guy....He's making it hard to sleep, to say the least." Redheart frowned, turning towards the hall.

"What's he doing?" Redheart asked.

"He won't stop screaming." Pinkamena said, sighing. "It started off with mumbling, saying he was sorry he couldn't.....kill someone. Then he started screaming, like someone stabbed him...."

Redheart laughed. "I'm surprised that disturbed you. Alright, thank you for the information, Pinkamena. You can return to your bed now."  Pinkamena nodded, before walking off.

As Redheart walked down the hallway, the screaming seemed to get slower and slower as she got closer.

"Hello? Are you here?" Redheart asked, as the screaming became more like growling.

"I'm a little busy." The man growled, facing away from the pony. "She's a bit busy."

Redheart sighed, "Listen, Patient E-"

"Don't call me that."

"S-Sir, there is no 'she', you're in there alone. Now I know it's difficult being here but--" Redheart felt herself being knocked back by an invisible force. As her vision blurred, she felt something lift her up again, this time towards the cage bars. As she struggled to break free, she looked at the creatures face. He tried to gasp as her jaw began to ache from effort. Half of the patients face just......gone. Well, not really. But his eyes and mouth looked more like stitches on a doll than a face.

'You're interuption at lunch was un-needed, pony.' The creature snarled, it's visible eye flashing neon green. 'And she doesn't appreciate interuptions. Exspecially not during sacrifice time.'

Redheart's chest beat as the creatures voice got louder and louder, making her want to cover her ears and scream. 'What did he mean by sacrifice time?' Redheart thought as she gasped for air as her neck scraped against the cold iron bars.

'How would you feel knowing you died in the hands of a person you were meant to control?' The creature smirked, continuously banging the pony against the iron cage.

As she opened her eyes, she looked towards the patient one last time. This time, the stitchings had...dissapeared. Instead of having the right side of his face he had some sort of floaty substance. It was purple. It was warm. Redheart gulped, 'Yep. Defiently flames.'

As Redheart's lifeless body fell to the ground, a pink pony rushed up to her. "Redheart? Redheart!" The pony turned to her right to see Patient E-014 sleepy soundly in his bed. "Did you pass out?" Pinkamena thought out loud as she grinned. "Well, you aren't going to get back to your room by yourself. C'mon." Pinkamena grunted as she lifted the nurse onto her back, and walked down the halls back to her room.

As she left, laughter erupt from the cage. 'They'll know what it means to never wake up now, Spirit.'
