Chapters Loving you isn't that hard.
Lyra saw her marefriend leave through the big door of the castle ,with the cake she had so carefully tried to make for the princesses.
It was her first big job as the royal banqueter and she was sweating bullets.
Lyra prayed the princesses would like the cake and approve it for the event.
A few minutes passed and bonbon came out again looking very happy.
“We did it Lyra! The cake got approved! The princesses loved it!”
Lyra hugged her happy marefriend tightly and kissed her on the cheek.
“I knew you would pass! I mean.. it is the most beautiful and tasteful looking cake I ever saw !”She replied happily to her marefriend.
Bonbon giggled.
“Silly Lyra .always thinking about food and eating.” She exclaimed with a giggle.
“Hey! I don’t always think about that! I only think about it for the majority of the day! Not always!” Lyra answered jokingly.
Bonbon wiped some sweat from her brow and began rummaging in her saddlebag.
“What do you say if we celebrate on our first job well done? “She said while grabbing out her bag of bits from the saddlebag.
“I’d say: Let’s go!!”Lyra answered
The two happily trotted over to one of the restaurants in Canterlot to celebrate their victory.
It was around that time, that an eerie howl came forth from deep within the Everfree Forest.
It was loud enough to be heard around the borders of the forest.
It was there that a little filly glanced out of the window, looking out over the Everfree when the cry was heard .
“What in the name of the princesses was that?” The little filly asked herself.
Her sister, who was right behind her , looked up from what she was doing and looked out of the window too.
“I don’t know what it was,” She spoke up. “but I sure as hay don’t want to find out either”
She glanced at the clock that was hanging on the wall.
“Anyway. It’s bedtime for you Applebloom, so get going . We have a productive day ahead of us”
The little filly yawned , but was not too eager on going to her bed .
“Yeah. Because bucking apples every day is so fun to do.” She replied with a hint of sarcasm in her voice .
Her sister sighed.
“Then you should have been born somewhere else than by us apples. But we don’t buck apples tomorrow, we have to take care of the pumpkins. It’s nearly Nightmare Night you know?” She said .
The little filly’s ears perked up at the words Nightmare Night.
“Oh yeah! I need to go see Rarity for some costume soon.”
The orange mare giggled at her little sisters sudden bolt of energy.
“That may be so, but now it’s really bedtime for you.” She made a hoof pointing motion to the stairs.
Applebloom sighed and slowly ascended the stairs.
As soon as she got out of sight Applejack worriedly looked out of the window.
“I really don’t want to find out what it was.” She said to herself as her spine tingled when another howl was heard.
“Lyra stop stuffing your mouth with the bread!”Bonbon scolded her.
Lyra giggled and swallowed the remaining pieces of bread that had been in her mouth.
“I can’t help it that I’m hungry, besides, we are still waiting on our food to come.”
The green mare continued to eat the bread as a stallion came to their table with two plates.
“Somepony ordered the salad with hayfries and the daisy sandwich with extra union-sauce?”
Lyra nodded and the waiter handed the plates over to her.
“I also got the Caesar salad with hayfries and a simple sandwich.”
This time bonbon nodded and the waiter gave her the plate.
When the waiter began walking away again bonbon spoke up:
“c-Could we have some cider please?” She asked a bit nervously.
The waiter smiled and nodded and walked away to get the two mares some cider.
Bonbon sighed after he left and stared at Lyra.
“Seriously Lyra, extra onion sauce? I’m so not gonna kiss you tonight.”
The two mares shared a small giggle and started to dig into their food.
After a while bonbon excused herself and went to the bathroom.
The bathroom itself was as luxurious as the restaurant and bonbon examined her surroundings.
It's tiles where laid in a black and white patron, almost like a chess board.
The walls were painted a light cream color and the faucet was sparkling silver.
Bonbon then turned on the faucet and splashed some of the water, coming out of the faucet, in her face.
Her breathes were slow and long, it seemed like the walls were closing in on her .
She slapped herself in the face a couple of times.
“Come on Bonbon! You can do it, you will ask the mare of your dreams to marry you and that’s that!”
With one deep breath she left the bathroom and returned back to the table where her marefriend just finished eating her hayfries.
Bonbon sat down again and ate more of her food as her marefriend began eating her daisy sandwich.
After a while Bonbon looked up at Lyra and stifled a giggle.
Lyra raised an eyebrow at her marefriend’s giggle and looked at her.
“Something the matter, Bonnie?” She asked.
Bonbon giggled again.
“There.. is something on your muzzle,” She proceeded to point at her muzzle. “right about..here.”
Lyra wiped her muzzle and noticed that almost her whole muzzle was covered in a mixture of ketchup and union sauce.
“Here, let me help you.” Bonbon grabbed a napkin and wiped Lyra’s muzzle clean.
Lyra blushed and silently thanked her marefriend who smiled at her.
“Honestly Lyra, can’t you eat normally without making a mess just one time?” Bonbon jokingly asked her.
Lyra simply shrugged and took another bite from her sandwich.
Bonbon proceeded to drink some cider and continued eating.
Not far from the two dining mares stood a blue mare on a balcony.
Her mane flowing in the wind and her eyes focused on the faraway trees of the Everfree.
She could sense something there, something that frightened her.
The feeling that something was not right had slowly crept up her spine.
“Luna, is everything alright?” A soothing voice spoke to her from behind the blue alicorn.
Luna looked behind her to see her sister standing in the doorway from the balcony.
“No sister. There is something wrong. We, I mean I can feel it.” She said to her sister.
Her sister walked to her and nuzzled her.
“It’s the Everfree forest dear Lulu. Things are bound to be frightening there.” Her sister stated calmly.
Luna blushed and nodded.
“That may be so. But I still have the feeling that there is something completely wrong there.” She stated. “And please stop calling us Lulu. You don’t hear me calling you Tia?”
Her sister giggled a bit and nuzzled the blue alicorn.
“Indeed I don’t. But I don’t mind that.”
Luna huffed.
“Well I do! We aren't fillies anymore sister. That time lays in the past.” She said.
Celestia simply smiled.
“Alright Lulu. I shall try to use that silly name less.”
Luna groaned at hearing that name again.
“Sister!”
“Oops, sorry.” The white mare giggled a little.
Luna sighed deeply.
“Honestly Celestia, must we be so foalish now? When danger could be sticking it’s malicious head around the corner?”
Celestia looked at Luna and let out a deep sigh.
“Alright Luna. I will send a few guards to scout the area tomorrow. First, I and they need our sleep.” With that the white alicorn walked away, leaving Luna alone again.
Luna sighed again and began looking over the woods again.
“We will keep a close eye on you.” She whispered softly to the direction of the forest.
The forest answered in silence and had no intention to reveal the horrors that where hiding deep in its lands.

Admitting it is harder
The two mares had begun to walk back home slowly after their stomachs were filled with delicious food. Lyra almost smiling with fulfillment and glee the entire time.
“This was really an awesome night Bonbon!”
Bonbon nodded.
“I know Lyra. It’s an awesome night.” She giggled slightly.
A little while after they reached the outskirts of Ponyville did Lyra notice that they went the wrong way .
“I think we are walking wrong Bonnie,” She said in confusion. “Didn’t we already walk to far?”
Bonbon smiled lightly.
“We did. I just wanted to make this night more special by watching the moon and stars on the hill like we used to do a lot when we were younger, remember?” She said happily.
Lyra nodded and her eyes filled with joy.
“Now that were good times! Remember when we saw those rabbits?” She exclaimed in joy.
“I don’t even know if I want to remember that, Lyra.” Bonbon said in unamused voice.
Lyra giggled and quickly kissed Bonbons cheek.
“Of course you don’t ! I wouldn’t either if I sprained my leg because of it.” Lyra said to her .
Bonbon groaned.
“Can you please let that subject fall right now? I don’t like being remembered to that particular incident.”
The two had reached the top of the hill now and both of them laid down on the grass and looked at the moon.
Both of them relaxed and watched the clouds go by in the tranquil night sky.
The little filly named Applebloom wasn’t quite sleepy yet when her big sister told her to go to bed.
She had spent an hour lying in bed just wondering whatever that howl could have been .
Finally curiosity got the better of her and she slowly climbed out of the window after making sure her sister wouldn’t come upstairs to check on her.
She let herself fall into the pile of hay that was conveniently placed outside her window, and walked towards the orchard and her treehouse.
She opened the doors from her treehouse and entered it .
Everything in there belonged to her and the other Crusaders, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo.
For example, the helmet from Scootaloo laid in there, but also useful stuff, like flashlights.
The filly grabbed one of the flashlights and exited the treehouse.
“Let’s see if I can catch a glimpse of the mysterious animal.” She whispered to herself.
She began to walk to the edge of the orchard, armed with nothing more than her flashlight and knowledge.
She didn’t hear a howl anymore, but she knew the animal had to be close by.
Nearing the edge of the orchard, she suddenly heard a soft breathing somewhere close.
Without hesitation she slowly sneaked to the sound and peeked from behind a tree to the place where the sounds came from.
Only to notice nothing was there.
The filly sighed in relief and turned around.
There stood her big sister with an unamused look on her face.
“Didn’t I tell a certain little pony that she had to go to bed?” She asked the filly.
Applebloom nodded.
“I’m sorry sis! But I was just so curious about what that howling thing could be.”
Applejack shook her head.
“Applebloom, don’t ever do something this stupid again! What if that howl came from one of those dangerous animals like for example a cockatrice? That is too dangerous for fillies of your age, even for my age! So Promise me here and now you will never do this again!”
Her little sister nodded.
“I promise.” She exclaimed, embarrassed by getting caught like this, now she would never earn her ninja cutiemark.
“Good, now go right back to bed missy!” Applejack commanded.
The little filly grumbled but did as she was told, she wouldn’t want to be punished, and certainly not by Applejack.
“Say Bonbon? Why did you really brought me here? I mean the dinner, the walking along the lake, even this here! Usually when we do these sort of fun things it means you have to tell me something has happened, like that time when you told me that you received mail that I wasn’t chosen to play for the grand galloping gala!” Lyra exclaimed suddenly.
Bonbon sighed.
“You know that I love you right?”
Lyra raised her eyebrows.
“Of course I know that! I love you too!"
Lyra hugged her marefriend tightly.
Bonbon smiled.
“Thanks Lyra, I needed that.”
Lyra blushed a bit and giggled.
“Anytime Bonnie!” She smiled to Bonbon and let go of the hug.
Suddenly Lyra caught something moving in the corners of her eyes, it were a few bushes next to the hill.
“Wait here Bonbon! I’m going to check out that bush! Something’s not right there.” She exclaimed.
Bonbon nodded and smiled at Lyra , who already walked towards the bush.
“Be careful! You never know what could be in there, maybe even a squirrel!” Bonbon stated jokingly.
Lyra giggled and stopped before the bush, which seemed to shake softly in the wind.
Her hoof slowly touched the leaves and pushed some of them aside.
She jerked her hoof back when she felt something sliding against it, something with fur.
To her relief did the head of a little rabbit show itself soon after her hoof touched it’s fur.
She turned back to Bonbon in relief.
“Bonbon everything’s fine here! It was just a …” Her voice trailed off as the mare could only stare with wide open eyes to the hill where her marefriend sat a few seconds ago.
hearing you say it is my reward.
The doors of the hospital flew open and two ponies ran in carrying a stretcher with a patient on it.
Immediately a green mare followed, running after them .
She got stopped by a stallion before she could follow the stretcher to the ICU.
“I’m afraid you have to wait here miss.” The stallion said to her.
Lyra frowned at that.
“Bu..But my marefriend is in there! I-I need to see her!” She almost burst into tears right there and then.
“Listen, the doctors here will do everything they have to make sure your marefriend is going to be fine. For now, we need to know what happened to her.”
Lyra began to tell him what happened.
“And a-after I looked back to b-Bonbon s-she was being attacked by something.” Lyra sobbed.
The stallion nodded.
“Alright, let me take a look if they are busy operating on her.” With that he walked through the big doors where the ICU was located.
Lyra nodded and sat down on a chair, still trembling in fear.
What seemed like an eternity later the stallion walked out again with a unreadable expression on his face.
“Miss Heartstrings, I’m afraid I have some bad news along with some good news.” The stallion declared.
Lyra bit her lip, unsure what the news could be.
“The operation was a success, but Miss Bonbon developed some fever like symptoms during said operation. We will threat her for it and keep her here for the night.” The stallion showed a little smile. “If she’s lucky, she’ll get to go home around noon tomorrow.”
Lyra let out a sigh she didn’t know she was holding, and felt a weight drop of her shoulders.
“t-That’s great news Doctor! Thank you very much!!” She genuinely smiled at the stallion and he in turn rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment.
“a-Actually , Miss Heartstrings.. I’m still just an assistant here ” The stallion said to her.
Lyra smiled and nodded.
“I understand. Still, thank you for checking on Bonbon.” She smiled again as the stallion’s blush disappeared.
“No need to thank me , Miss Heartstrings. After all, it’s my job to help ponies.” The stallion announced with a confident smile. He then held up a hoof in front of her.
“My name’s Autumn Spark.” He said to her, still holding that confident smile.
Lyra proceeded to shake his hoof, she wasn’t a pony without manners.
“My name is Lyra Heartstrings, but I guess you already knew that…”She giggled and let go of his hoof.
“Again, it’s nice to meet you, Miss Heartstrings,” Autumn said, a smile adorning his face “I have to go now I’m afraid. Patients don’t appreciate it if you keep them waiting too long.” He chuckled and began to walk away, leaving Lyra in the waiting room.
Applebloom twisted and turned in her sleep. The little filly was having a bad dream.
She was being followed by a creature that looked very much like a pony and nothing like a pony at the same time. It ran faster than any normal pony but strangely enough she ran faster, although the distance between them closed in rapidly and she could already feel it’s hot breath in her neck.
She suddenly saw an enormous wall arise in front of her, leaving her with no option of escaping the beast that was chasing after her. As she came to a stop, her back against the wall, she saw the dark shadowy beast come closer with each step it took.
Suddenly, the beast stepped into the light and revealed an image that made Applebloom scream.
The beast appeared to be Appeljack, and had an abnormal amount of fur on her body and looked almost canine.
Applejack opened her mouth, showing big and sharp fangs and let out an unearthly howl.
She slowly walked to the trembling filly and grinned like a madmare.
“Didn’t I told a little filly to go to bed?” Applebloom heard the beast say as it jumped on her and started to rip her apart.
The filly awoke with a scream and gasped for breath.
Immediately her door burst open and her brother and sister both ran into her room with worried looks.
“Applebloom!! Are you alright?!” Applejack asked the trembling filly.
The filly looked around and noticed she was back in her room, safe and sound.
She calmed down and nodded slowly to her sister.
“Y..Yes, I mean, I think so.. .I just had a bad dream.” Applebloom said to her.
Her sister hugged her and held her tight.
“You sure it was ‘just a bad dream’?” The mare asked, seemingly not convinced about what she had said.
“I already said it was just a bad dream!” The filly responded as she rearranged herself in bed.
Her sister let go of her and sighed.
“Alright. We will be in our rooms when you need us.” Applejack said as she turned towards the door.
Applebloom nodded and watched her sister and brother leave the room.
Only minutes later the little filly fell back into a deep sleep.
Lyra looked at the clock that hung on the wall.
It was already after one in the morning and the drowsiness slowly washed over her.
The hospital was mostly empty, aside for the night staff and some other doctors.
Autumn Spark had accompanied her for the most of the time, bringing her something to eat and drink after he finished his rounds.
She thanked him for the refreshments and asked him how Bonbon was holding up.
“I just checked her, she was peacefully asleep.” Autumn Spark replied.
Lyra yawned and simply nodded.
“That’s great to hear.” She said after a few moments of silence.
“Yes, and I think some other pony should too!” He joked.
Lyra giggled slightly and nodded.
“Perhaps that would be best , but I’m not leaving Bonnie alone. I’ll just stay here for a few more minutes and then I’ll go home.”
Lyra talked with Autumn for a few more minutes before he went back to his rounds.
When he checked on Lyra again, he found her soundly asleep on one of the hospital’s seats.
He chuckled and grabbed a clean blanket from a nearby utility closet, which he laid over her.
After that he walked away, humming a quiet but cheerful tune in the meantime.
