Princess Celestia looked at her sun - still in the sky - then at the time.
Luna needs to raise the moon now. She thought. I'm glad she spends time with her son, but she can't just refuse her responsibility.
She rose to her hooves, and smoothed the skirt of her golden yellow dress down. She flapped her white wings once, before resting them against her back. She then turned and walked briskly toward the throne room of the Castle of the two Sisters, her pink mane and tail bobbing as she walked.
[SCENE CHANGE]
Luna had just put Night Shadow down in his crib and ran a night blue hand over his midnight black mane, a light gray horn sticking out.
"Good night, my Shadow of the Night." She whispered lovingly to him.
She turned and walked to the throne room, her violet dress flowing around her legs.
As she walked, a darker version of her own voice spoke in her head.
He will be hated like you... It told her. If you do what we want... he will be greater than you could ever imagine...
Those words broke Luna's will to fight the Nightmare.
"Fine..." She whispered. "You have a point..."
As Luna entered the throne room, the Nightmare gave her the anger to do what she must.
Luna stood on the raised platform as Celestia entered through the hallway.
"Not another step." Luna told her menacingly.
Celestia stopped and looked at Luna in shock.
"Did you really think I'd just sit Idly by while they all basked in your precious Light?" Luna asked, her voice growing louder and darker with each word.
Luna's dress started billowing with power around her.
"There can only be room for one Princess in Equestria," She continued. "And that Princess... WILL BE ME!"
As Luna shouted those last words, the stained glass window and wall behind her broke, blasting to the ground between them in tiny shards.
Celestia watched in horror as Luna raised her hands, palms up, toward the ceiling, her horn glowing brightly and her wings outstretched.
Luna's moon covered Celestia's sun in a Lunar Eclipse, the shadows of the moon racing toward Luna, crackling with dark energy.
The shadows surrounded Luna and formed a sphere around her as they rose into the air, glowing dark red.
The red turned to black, and the black turned to dark purple, then burst open, revealing a black alicorn in a dark purple one piece, her dark purple mane and tail flowing on a non-existent breeze.
"Luna!" Celestia called out! "You must lower the moon so I can lower the sun! It is your duty!"
"Luna?" the black alicorn asked. "I am... Nightmare Moon! And I have but one duty now! To destroy you!"
Nightmare Moon blasted a beam of dark blue energy toward Celestia, who rose on her wings and flew out of the throne room.
"Where do you think you're going?" Nightmare Moon asked, a smirk on her muzzle.
She followed the Princess of the Sun, her arms by her sides, while Celestia's dress was billowing around her golden shoed hooves, her arms at a V to get more speed.
But she wouldn't be fast enough.
Nightmare Moon had a blast charged at that point and blasted it at Celestia, who only had time to turn around - wide eyed with fear - as it hit her square in the chest.
"AAAAAAhhhhhh!" Celestia cried in pain as she was blasted back into the hall that held the Elements of Harmony.
Nightmare Moon gave an evil laugh as she started to destroy the castle, deliberately staying away from the room that Night Shadow was sleeping in.
Celestia was starting to regain consciousness, as she heard the castle being destroyed.
She sat up and rubbed her chest with her right hand as she watched the destruction take place.
"Oh, dear sister...." She said, looking down right scared and depressed. "Please forgive me... but you've given me no choice but to use," She ignited her horn and pointed her left palm at a glowing panel on the ground. "These"
A pedestal rose from the compartment, six gems resting on them.
Five were shaped like an emerald, their colors as follows: Red, Blue, Purple, Pink, and orange. The six gem was shaped like a star burst, with the color being lavender.
Celestia grabbed the Elements of Harmony in her magic and Flew to meet Nightmare Moon.
"What? How did you survive?" A shocked Nightmare Moon asked a determined looking Celestia, who said nothing.
She instead brought the Elements before her, the five gem shaped ones circling around her in a vertical fashion, while the star burst gem rested in it's center, a few hooves forward.
Nightmare Moon gathered as much energy as she could charge, while the Elements shot a beam of light toward the star burtst Element of Magic. Celestia felt a single tear roll down her cheek as she and Nightmare Moon let the blasts go.
The rainbow blast over took the dark blue blast and hit Nightmare Moon, sending her to be imprisoned on the moon.
However, not all of the Nightmare energy went with her. It, instead, flew to Night Shadow in infused itself with the sleeping foal.
His hair became inky, his coat became a darker gray, and his closed eyes had green energy flow from under the lids.
It only lasted for a second before he returned to normal, now half Night Terror.
When Night Shadow was 14 years old, he finally asked Celestia about his birth mother.
"She..." Celestia started, unsure if she should tell him. "She was banished to the moon.... By me."
Night's eyes were wide with shock, fear, and disbelief.
"No..." He muttered. "No... No.... NO!"
"Night," Celestia started, looking at him sadly.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!" He shouted at her.
He squatted down, feeling anger swell up inside him. He put his right hand down on the throne room floor, his clothes changing. His mane and tail became flowing and ink like, covering his left eye, his right eye glowing with Night Terror Energy. His teeth grew fangs and an inky black and green flame appeared in his left hand.
