She was motivated and determined, a capable athlete and a socialite. But today was Sunday and Sunset Shimmer had none of her usual drive. She sat on her old quilted sofa wearing nothing but fuzzy slippers and a frown. Her television was on but she did not have cable, so the sober weather report for the week was all that she had for entertainment. Breaking herself out of an ennui-induced trance, Sunset glanced to her right and took stock of her apartment. Specifically, the rather shameful amount of trash in and around her kitchen. Sunset was also not ordinarily a slob. She could think of a million excuses to use should a guest happen by, but in all honesty, she could no longer look upon the filth in good conscience. Standing up from her well-worn seat, Sunset took a garbage bag out from underneath the sink and began to fill it with stale pizza crust and chicken wing bones. She wiped down the countertop, hand washed the dishes, and even misted the air with the lavender-scented contents of an aerosol can. It was not terribly late; the sun was only just beginning to fall below the horizon as seen from her living room’s window. But without thinking about it, Sunset picked up the trash bag, unlocked her front door, and walked out. The stroll down the hallway to the garbage chute was short and she happened across none of her neighbors. Once back inside, she locked the door, yawned, and collapsed back on the couch. A second later, she hazarded a glance down and was reminded that she was as naked as the day she was born. Sunset did not panic or blush. She instead began giggling like a madwoman. She had just risked public humiliation and gotten away with it without consequence. It was a thrilling sensation, one that she couldn’t recall ever experiencing before. It was so exciting, in fact, that Sunset considered attempting it again, and perhaps going even further. Would she get away with it a second time? Would someone see her? The thought was invigorating. Sunset Shimmer fell asleep on her sofa half an hour later, an empty bowl of ice cream resting on her coffee table.

Don’t wuss out now.” Wearing her favorite terry cloth bath robe with nothing underneath it, Sunset steeled herself for what was to come. It had been one whole week since she had accidentally carried a bag of trash completely nude to the garbage chute and felt that wonderful adrenalin rush, and she wanted more. Unfortunately now she was completely conscious of every second she was sans clothing and couldn’t muster up the courage to repeat her earlier performance, so she concocted an alternative plan. In less than five minutes Rainbow Dash would be at her apartment, expecting to simply hang out. The two weren’t quite as close as Sunset was to Dash’s other friends, so she flubbed the truth a bit, telling Dash that she wanted to connect with her as she had the others. Dash agreed. Sunset’s ulterior motive was to open wide her robe whenever Dash had her back turned, flashing her and hopefully closing it again before she looked back. If she mistimed it, Sunset could easily play it off as an accident. Dash seemed the most likely candidate of the five to shrug it off. Or preposition her. Sunset was strangely okay with that scenario. Her doorbell rang. Sunset immediately began sweating. ‘This is a horrible plan,’ she thought. ‘If she catches me, she’s going to think I’m a pervert. I already have one stain on my life. Do I need another?’ Sunset let the doorbell chime again. Realizing that simply ignoring Dash wouldn’t make the problem go away, she took a deep breath and opened the door. Standing there with a big smile on her face was Rainbow Dash, and in her hands was an Xbox One. “Hey there Shimmy! Ready to get your butt whooped on Halo?” Sunset Shimmer and Rainbow Dash played Halo. Sunset’s robe remained firmly fastened all night long.

It was just before noon on a Saturday and Sunset Shimmer was not at school. She was in the shower, singing a one-woman rendition of Welcome to the Show. Though the water from the nozzle was loud and her singing was even louder, her sharp ears nevertheless heard the telephone ringing in the living room. Sliding open the foggy door and stepping out, a fully nude Sunset Shimmer exited the bathroom and sped to pick up the phone before the answering machine could take over the call. “’Yello?” “Heya Sunset. It’s Rainbow.” “Hi, Rainbow! What’s up?” Heedless of her nudity or the water she was tracking on the carpet, Sunset leaned against the dividing wall between her living room and the hallway, idly twisting a lock of sopping hair around her right index finger. The phone was placed in the crook between her shoulder and neck, and Sunset examined her fingernails. ‘About time for another pedi,’ she thought. Sunset was quite skilled in nail art and mentally debated what design she would apply next. Her cutie mark, while a classic, was well played out. “Not much. Just wanted to see if you were up for a trip to the mall. I’ve already called the other girls.” “Sure! Sounds like fun. What time?” “Meet you at the food court in an hour?” “I’ll be there.” “Cool! See ya!” Rainbow hung up. So did Sunset. Returning to her shower, Sunset finished cleaning herself, dried off with a fluffy white towel, got dressed, and left her apartment. It was a few minutes past 12:30. And nothing humiliating happened.
