Dashie's Loyalty

Chapter I: The Beginning

It was a lovely night in Ponyville and Twilight, followed by her five best friends Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, were enjoying fresh pastries at Sugarcube Corner. They sat on the stools in the bakeshop as Pinkie kept returning with a complete variety of aromatic and sugary sweets. Pinkie did make the best sweets in all of Ponyville-- maybe even all of Equestria. After they were done feasting off of Pinkie Pie's delicacies, five of the six friends began to chat. Chatting about memories of their past adventure and predictable the outcome gets; and even about new adventures they might actually like. Dash didn't feel like talking though, and even if she did, she didn't want anypony to know a certain secret she had for years now. Rainbow Dash had a cr- no she was in love with Fluttershy.  Fluttershy, the lovely doll, was at the other end of the stools talking to Twilight and the others. Back then , Dash thought it would be easy to admit it to her, even now. But seeing how she could never get the words out correctly, she'd thought it was time to give it another try. And besides, even if she told her secret infront of her friends, they'd be with every step of the way, right?

Dash breathed in before exhaling and clearing her throat.

"Fluttershy..?" Dash managed to say a slight blush growing on her face.

Fluttershy slowly leans her head from the group conversation. A few seconds later, all of Rainbow's friends were staring at her.

"Y-yes, Rainbow Dash?" The yellow mare said.

Dash swallowed hard as she slowly opened her lips.

"Fluttershy, I love yo-" Dash stopped herself as her blush deepen, turning her face a deep purple. "Your mane!; I love your mane! That's what I meant..."

She gave a nervous giggle as she darted her eyes to her friends who all gave her confused looks. The sight of her friend and realization that she bucked up again made facehoof herself.

Pinkie Pie was the first to talk.

"Are you okay, Dashie?"

Dash nodded. After that Rarity spoke.

"Are you sure Darling? I mean, we've never seen you act like this before."

Dash nodded again. This time, looking at Rarity.

Pinkie looked at the clock and back to her friends.

"Well, sorry guys. It's time to go." She said. "But make sure to come back. I can't possibly eat all these treats by myself."

The pink mare giggled as her friends began to leave, Rainbow Dash automatically rushing out. She never felt so embarrassed in all her life. And even if she could reverse time in any way, what would she do differently? Dash sighed as she hung her head. Her friends all went in their own direction of their homes. Rarity stopped for moment and looked back, seeing Rainbow Dash in her saddened state. She felt that she needed to be there for her loyal friend; they all did. Rarity trotted slowly to Dash so she could confront her.

"Rainbow darling, why do you look so.."down in the dumps" today?" Rarity asked.

Dash only looked back and gave a deep sigh.

"Rainbow Dash, oh please be a dear and tell me what's going on."

Dash stopped walking and turned around slowly to meet her friend.

"C-can you keep a secret Rarity?" Dash asked suddenly.

Rarity only nodded before she spoke.

"Of course, dear." she said. "What do you need to tell me?"

Dash nervously scraped at the ground then look up at Rarity.

"Well-um..." Dash started. "I'm-" she mumbles the words under her breath.

Rarity's ears perked up and at that exact moment, she leans closer to Rainbow.

"I'm sorry, dear. I didn't quite catch that." Rarity said. "What did you say?"

Dash let out another deep sigh and began to blush slightly as she spoke.

"I-I'm...I'm in love with Fluttershy..." Dash admitted

With those words being said, her ear perk down and she begins to blush madly. Rarity looked at Rainbow and smirked.

"Now-now, Rainbow Dash." Rarity said, "Having a crush on one of your oldest friends is nothing to be ashamed of."

Rainbow Dash tried to smile, but the embarrassment make it almost hard to.

"Y-yeah, you're right Rarity." Dash said a small smile appearing on her face. "Guess I was giving up to quickly; but I just want to tell her the truth...really bad."

Rarity began to think, a hoof sliding back and forth underneath her chin as she did. Suddenly, she thought of something.

"Idea!~" Rarity exclaims as she grabs one of Rainbow Dash's hooves. "Rainbow Dash, my dear, loyal friend. I think I have a solution."

After the casual comment, Rarity lets go one Dash's hoof. As Dash looks down, she sees a brochure of a 5-day vacation cruise. She looks at Rarity who only glances back back at her and giggles. Dash then shrugs and opens the brochure, clears her throat and begins reading; first with the title.

"The Marey Celeste." Dash read questionably . "Where did you get this?"

Rarity only stroked her mane curl and snicker.

"Dear, I've had this for one day when I meet my..."Prince Charming", I'd take a fabulous cruise." She said sighing as she spoke the words.

"Think about it; it'll be time for the two of you get together and have some fun and give you another chance."

Dash suddenly felt a wave of happiness hit her. She squeaked in glee as she hugged Rarity.

"Thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you-thank you!" Dash said as she hugged a bit tighter.

"Whoa-Rainbow Dash, please let go of me before you ruin my fabulous coiffure!" she said, giving a slight giggle at her friend's suddenly excitement.

Dash then began to slowly release her friend, a jittery smile on her face.

"Now Rainbow Dash, go home and get a good rest." Rarity said casually. "The cruise begins tomorrow."

Dash hugged her friend goodbye and started to fly towards her cloud home. When she finally arrived, she opened the door, closing it after she'd entered, and proceeded upstairs, putting the brochure under her pillow as she began to snuggle up. She smiled at her positive thoughts of tomorrow's trip and yawn before slowly falling asleep.
