Chapters "Whoa!" I scream when I trip over a stack of books.
"Careful Spike! These are very important books!" Twilight snaps at me.
"Like all the other "important" books in this library" I mumble to myself. Twilight groans and stomps away. A few hours later, Twilight bursts in.
"Alright, we're ready!" she shouts,
"Ready for what?" I ask. Twilight shows me a book called, Capes: A Complete History. I stare blankly at the book.
"And we need this, why?" I ask curiously,
"For Rarity silly! Who else would want to read a book about boring capes?" she replies. I suddenly found interest in this uninteresting book.
"L-Let me hold it! I'll carry it the whole way" I shout with no hesitation. Twilight giggles and hands me the book,
"Alright, Lover Boy!" she winks at me. I growl, how come she hasn't forgotten yet? I told her about my crush a month ago!
We walk over to Rarity's house, and see Applejack and Rainbow Dash playing with a ball of yarn. Rarity skips by them holding tons of different fabrics,
"Will you two stop acting like fillies? Grow up!" she snaps.
"Says the pony who plays dress-up all the time" Applejack sneers to Rainbow Dash, and they both start snickering. I run up to Rarity with the cape book.
"Rarity, Here you go" I shout handing her the book,
"Wh-What's so funny?" I ask them quivering,
"Looks like a purple dragon has a crush on a purple haired pony" Rainbow Dash scoffs. My scales went from blushing red to burning rage. Then I got a little idea
" Funny for you to think that Rainbow, but I do not have a crush on Twilight" I respond so very clever. Except, I wasn't as clever as I thought I was.
"That's not who we're talking abou-" Rainbow begins to mutter, but Applejack covers Rainbow's mouth with her hoof,
"It's called sarcasm Rainbow Dash" she groans annoyingly. Applejack was sadly right, I was kidding. My real crush was on the Element of Generosity. Ever since the day we first came to Ponyville, I had loved that purple haired unicorn,
"Anyway Spike, everypony knows about your crush, all but one" Says Applejack.
"Who?" I ask, even though I already know the answer.
"Her name starts with a R and ends with a Y, she makes clothes and dramatically cries. Who could see anything in that mare? Spike the Dragon certainly dares!" Rainbow Dash and Applejack chant.
"Wow, catchy" I reply annoyed.
"Came up with it myself" Rainbow brags. I was getting annoyed with these two cheer ponies, so I walked out of Rarity's house to go eat at Sugar Cube Corner.
Pinkie Pie wasn't there because she got to ring the school bell again (oh no). So I sat down to eat at a table, but saw that two strangers with hoods over their heads were already sitting there.
"Oh, sorry gentleponies. I didn't know you were sitting here." I stammer.
"Well partner, we didn't know that you had a crush on the fashion designer in Ponyville" one stranger mutters. I stare at him confused,
"But, I thought everypony knew already."
"All but one" the other stranger replies.
"Who?" I ask, then I found out who these two strangers were.
"Her name starts with a-" one begins, but I stop her.
"STOP! OH, FOR THE LOVE OF CELESTIA, LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" I finally shout. One stranger takes her hood off revealing Applejack underneath,
"Alright Spike, while stop... if you admit you have a crush on Rarity" Applejack answers. I try to find words, but I can't. My body starts going out of control. My heart is pounding, my spine is tingling, and I'm sweating a waterfall! You wouldn't think that admitting your crush could make your body go crazy, but it does. Then I finally get a hold of the words. The same words I had spoken to Twilight and Pinkie Pie on that day, the same words I wished I would never have to speak again. Then the words spill out.
"I have a crush on Rarity"
Let the Love Games Begin!
"I KNEW IT! KNEW IT,KNEW IT, KNEW IT!" Rainbow Dash shouts. Applejack mutters
"Rainbow, I think we already knew, we just had to make sure it was certified",
"So it's not true if it's not certified?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Yes Rainbow, so anyway-" Applejack gets cut off by Rainbow Dash (again)
" So then it would be true if it was certified" she asks excitedly ,
"Ugh, yes! Anyway Spik-",
"So is it certified or not?" Rainbow Dash bellows out. Applejack gives Rainbow Dash the "Shut Up" look and turns back to me.
"Anyway, Spike what are you going to do?" Applejack asks.
"I-I don't know" I stammer. Applejack and Rainbow Dash gasp,
"LOVE EMERGRENCY!!!!". Suddenly, Rainbow Dash swoops me up, and zooms me to Sweet Apple Acres with Applejack running underneath us. Rainbow Dash then lays me down on a piece of hay.
"Alright, If ya want Rarity to love ya, you gotta take her on a date" Applejack suggests,
"Whoa! Applejack, that's Level 12 dude! LEVEL 12! He's only on Level 1" Rainbow shouts. Level 12? Level 1? When did romance turn into a video game?
"Okay, then how do I get to uh, Level 12?" I ask nervously,
"By playing The Love Games of course!!" Applejack and Rainbow answer. Ugh, what am I getting myself into?
"Level 1: Servant Boy" Rainbow calls out. This can only end so well.
"You gotta do everything Rarity tells you to do" Applejack explains. That doesn't seem to hard, I usually all ready do that. Except, now there are two ponies watching me do it. I walk over to Rarity's house, where she is making a new dress for a client.
"Hey, Rare. You need some help?" I ask anxiously,
"No, but thank you" she answers. I walk out of Rarity's house, when Applejack and Rainbow Dash stop me.
"Where are you going?" Rainbow asks,
"Forget it girls, she doesn't need my help" I answer.
"Just because she doesn't need you, doesn't mean she doesn't WANT you to help" Applejack says. And for once, I was really hoping the Element of Honesty was telling the truth. I walk back into Rarity's house,
"Need some help?" I ask,
"No, Spike I already told you! Now p-please leave me alone and let me WORK." she answers annoyed. I run out of the house quickly before Rarity explodes. (Trust me she can get annoyed pretty easily).
"Forget it girls, and I mean it! Rarity is about to explode!" I stammer.
"Well I guess this means that we're going to have to skip Levels 2 to 9. That stinks! That means we can't put him in a mariachi costume and make him play a guitar " Rainbow whines. Well, I'm glad we get to skip that one!
"Okay, so what is number 10?" I ask,
"It's Level 10" Applejack corrects,
"Anyway, Level 10 is that you got to send her a love letter" she explains. Well, that's not so bad. I write letters to Princess Celestia all the time. Except most of the time the letter isn't for me, it's for one of my friends. And plus, this is worse because it's a letter to my crush!
"Well lover boy, grab a piece of paper and a quill and get to writing that letter!" Rainbow Dash shouts. I grab some materials and sit at a desk in Twilight's Library. (With Applejack and Rainbow Dash RIGHT BEHIND ME). *Dear Rarity* I start to write. I think for a bit and write the last words *I LOVE YOU from Spike*.
"Are you kiddin me Spike?" Applejack bellows. " I Love You is not enough!" she screams. I really didn't see the problem, a cut straight to the chase!
"Try it like this 'Roses are red Violets are blue I'm a dragon, but I love you anyway" Rainbow Dash suggests. Wow, what a great poet.
"Am I the only one who thinks that poem is ridiculous?" I ask hoping Applejack might side with me.
"Yup!" Applejack responds. Great, now I'm stuck with an "amazing" poem.
I'm about to put it in the mailbox when Rainbow Dash zooms up to me.
"You should send her a gift!" she shouts,
"Silly-Sugar-Cube, that's Level 11" Applejack responds like Rainbow Dash had said the dumbest thing in all of Equestria.
"But, we could combine them into Level 110" Rainbow Dash suggests. I side with Rainbow and attach a jewel on the letter and place it in the mailbox. The next day I wake up with Twilight hovering over me with a wide grin on her face.
"A letter for Lover Boy" she snickers. I couldn't even hear her comment because I was filled with joy. Rarity had responded! I rip open the letter. It reads: Dear Spike, Thank you so much for the jewel and the letter. Love you too XOXO. Love, Rarity.( Also had a delicious jewel on the front). I couldn't believe it.
I was on Level 12.
"Your on Level 12!" Rainbow Dash and Applejack gasp. I had a really bad feeling of what was about to happen. "First, we got to sing the Love Song." Rainbow Dash cheers, "*Can you feel the love toni-*" Applejack smacks her hoof into Rainbow Dash's mouth. (Do you ever wonder if she ever gets tired of doing that?)
"Rainbow Dash remember that's for Level 32 when they get married!" she snaps. (Oh my Celestia...) Rainbow dash picks me up and flies me over to her house with Applejack right behind us in a hot air balloon.
"R-Rainbow Dash, can't me and Applejack fall if we walk on the clouds?" I quiver,
"I'll carry you inside and Applejack going to make The Leap of Faith" Rainbow Dash answers. Rainbow Dash carries me in followed by Applejack who tumbles in.
"Okay, since your going to war tonight you gotta get your weapons and your uniform" Applejack instructs. I gulp. War? Did she just say war?
"She's just messing with you Spike of course your not going to war!" Rainbow explains. (Thank Celestia). I am suddenly showered with sprays and lotions.
"Girls, what are you doing?" I shout.
"Getting you ready for your date, duh?" I hear Rainbow Dash scoff. I am suddenly sprayed with water and powder fills my eyes. I hear Applejack growl,
"Rainbow , that powder doesn't go in his eyes it goes on his cheeks!". Then I feel a bunch of conditioner and soap all over my body.
"Applejack, conditioner goes into the hair not the body!" I hear Rainbow yell. Then I'm sprayed with water.(again). I hear a blow dryer, then suddenly hot wind blasts into my face followed by a bunch of towels.
"Time for the hair!" I hear Rainbow sneer evilly.
"AHHHHH! NOT AGAIN!!!" I shout and run right out of Rainbow Dash's house. As I run on the clouds I remembered a very important detail about clouds. You Have To Be A Pegasus To Walk On Clouds. "Oh no..." I mutter and within seconds, I find myself tumbling.
Suddenly, Rainbow Dash finds me. But, she doesn't save me she as a comb and a brush.
"Oh no! Oh no, you don't!" I stammer and try to move away. But, I was too slow. Rainbow Dash was now on my head brushing and combing my head scales.
"It would help if your head was bigger!" Rainbow Dash grumbles. Why, was Rainbow doing this NOW? When I was FALLING! Suddenly, everything goes black. But, then I see light again. I look down, and notice that I am wearing a mini tuxedo. Applejack catches me in the hot air balloon, gives me a spray, and drops me off at Rarity's house. I look at the walk way leading up to Rarity's house. I gulp, and take a step but then I stop.
"No" I say sternly.
"What?!" Rainbow Dash shouts from behind a bush.
"I said no" I repeat.
"But, why sugar-cube?" Applejack asks.
" I don't care if you torment me or attack me with cleaning supplies. I'm not ready. I've gotten past the first stage, but it's not my last. You guys are making me take giant steps, but....." I trail off.
"But what?" Applejack and Rainbow ask.
"From now on" I start.
"I'm taking Baby Steps."
