My Little Containment Breach
Chapter 5: The Exit Strategy
Previous ChapterNext ChapterBailey jumped from the wall and started to show agony. 106 was covered in corrosive mucus, and Bailey was burned. He reached into one of his vest pockets and pulled out a container that contained a pink liquid. Bailey opened the container and poured the substance on the burns.
"Fuck!" Bailey moaned. After a minute of grunting, he got up and walked into the cell.
"Did you not hear any of that?!" Bailey shouted to the Class-D, who was sitting on his cot, wrapping the bandages.
"What?" The Class-D asked.
"All that noise outside? I nearly got killed!" Bailey screamed with anger.
"And I thought you were the guard here..." The Class-D smarted off.
Bailey walked up to the Class-D and shoved him against the wall, pinning his arms. "listen here, bud. I got better things to do then deal with your bullshit. Now if your not going to cooperate, then tell me. I'll just shoot you and get on with my day." Bailey paused. "Now, are we going to work together or not?" Bailey said ominously.
"Yeah yeah, we'll work together, Mr. Guard." The Class-D said, rolling his eyes.
"Good. Now, are you done bandaging yourself up?" Bailey asked. The Class-D responded with a yes while wrapping up the last of the bandage.
"Alright. Follow me. I have a plan, and remember what I said earlier. Don't try anything stupid, or you will be a good as dead." Bailey warned the Class-D.The two started down the cell block, turning left back into the three-way tunnel.
"Alright, we are going through the main level of the facility." Bailey informed the Class-D. The Class-D nodded his head in understandment and they continued towards the overpass.
The overpass had a door that connects to the office below it. Bailey hit the button next to the door and walked down the stairs, examining the office for any rouge guards or SCP's. He then signaled the Class-D to come down the steps. They then proceeded through the office, which had been reduced to a mess. It was evident that SCP-106 had been through because of the huge corrosion stain in the middle of the room. There was a door at one side of the room. Bailey and the Class-D decided to go through it. The room connected to the office was another three-way room, but had much more space. The group went left and entered a Hallway. At this point the facility started to seem like a maze as the group went left and right and left again through Hallways and passageways.
"So, whats your name?" Bailey asked.
"Why do you want to know?" The Class-D said.
"Well for one, we are a team. And two, because I want to fucking know." Bailey replied, being a smart ass.
"My name is Tyler. what's yours?" Tyler Asked.
"Captain Bailey, just call me Bailey." Bailey responded.
"So, how long have you been here, Bailey?" Tyler asked, trying to stir the conversation up.
"At this site, four years. In the Foundation, 11 years. I joined in 2003 after 2 years of the military." Bailey replied.
"Okay. So where are you taking me?" Tyler asked.
"I'm taking you to the Sec-" Bailey was interrupted by the sound of gunshots, which were followed by two tiny explosions and a loud crash.
Bailey continued, "I'm taking you to the Security Center, we are going to stay there for a while."
Tyler was startled. "What was that?" He asked, looking around nerviously
"Your guess is as good as mine. C'mon! We can't stay here for much longer." Bailey said, charging ahead.
Bailey opened the next door up to a hallway with a door to the right. The door was open.
"Someones been through here." Bailey whispered.
"Well the door could just been open when the breach happened." Tyler whispered back.
"No, this is a test room. The door is locked until testing occurs. No test were schedualed." Bailey replied, readying his P90. As he went through the door, another one to the left of it marked "Test Room". Bailey turned into the room, followed by Tyler. The room had two windows and a door. One of the windows was broken.
"Yeap, somethings been through here," Bailey said, looking around. "lets go."
As they where turning around, the emergency lights shut off. Something was rattling through the vents.
"Tyler! Do you here that? Something is in the vents!" Bailey whispered.
"Yeah I hear it." Tyler whispered back.
The lights flickered back on as one of the vent covered felt onto the floor. A statue fell to the floor a second later. It was SCP-173.
"What the fuck is that?!" Tyler screamed.
"SCP-173, keep your eyesight on it. tell me when you are going to blink." Bailey said to Tyler, backing away.
"Why?!" He screamed again.
"It only moves if it isn't under eyesight." Bailey scrambled to say.
"Okay! Okay," Tyler paused. "Blinking"
Bailey and tyler exchanged blinks as they both moved out of the room. Once they were out. Bailey sealed the door. Then they moved out of the first room and sealed the other door.
"We need to be more aware of our surroundings. Look out for those vents." Bailey informed tyler as they continued down the hallway.
After a good thirty minutes of walking in complete silence, the group came up to one of the facility checkpoints. This one had two doors, which marked "Heavy Containment". Bailey pulled out his Level 4 Key Card and inserted it to the slot. ERROR. UNAUTHORIZED KEY CARD DETECTED. ACCESS DENIED. Bailey tried again, ERROR. UNAUTHORIZED KEY CARD DETECTED. ACCESS DENIED.
"What the fuck?! It was working earlier!" Bailey exclaimed. He kept on inserting the key card, but the same "ERROR" message kept popping up. Bailey started to get pissed, threatening to shoot the lock if he has to.
"Hey. Are the windows bulletproof?" Tyler asked Bailey, hoping that he doesn't shoot him out of anger.
"No, actually. No they aren't." Bailey calmed. He then pointed his primary at the window and shot the window out.
"Thanks, Tyler" Bailey said. They both then craw into the security post and shot the window on the other side of the doors out.
"This place gives me the creeps!" Tyler quoted, noticing the atmosphere of the checkpoint.
"Your telling me! I have to pass through here everyday. You'll get used to it. Oh! By the way, this next zone will surely give you the creeps." Bailey said.
"Why is that?" Tyler asked.
"You'll see" Bailey said, opening the next door to a tunnel covered in rust.
"Where are we?" Tyler asked, shivering.
"Heavy Containment, it's where we store most of the SCP's. It's also where the Security Center is located." Bailey said, moving through the corridor. Tyler followed.
"So how far is it?" Tyler asked, sounding impatient
"Actually it's down the hallway here." Bailey sounded surprised. Tyler couldn't help but to question it.
"Why did you seem so surprised?" Tyler asked.
"Because I usually don't take the direct routes to things. I take the service tunnels." Bailey replied.
They then open the door at the end of the hallway to another three-way, but this one was different. The walls were like the ones in the light containment, not rusty or tunnel-like. Also they were lined with a yellow strip through the middle of the walls. One of the halls was considerably longer and had a weird contraption in the middle of it. Tyler couldn't help but to gaze at it.
"It is a Tesla gate. Shocks anything that goes through it," Bailey paused as he pulls a lever. A light on the contraption switches from red to green. "You can pretty much guess that this is where the Security Center is."
Bailey and Tyler walked through the contraption and to the door at the end of the hallway, which marked "Security Center". The door had a camera above it and a keypad to the right. Bailey punched in a code and the door slid open. Tyler had just realized that the doors in Heavy Containment were different.
"And here we are." Bailey sighed with relief. He flipped a switch and the lights turned on. the door was in a corner of the room. To the left of the door was a small room with a window. Tyler looked in and saw C.C.T.V. camera monitors. To the wall adjacent to the door was a blast door, which marked "Armory, Level 3 Security Required" In the far left corner of the room was a long desk which behind it was a door that marked "Barracks". Lastly to the far right of the room was a door which marked "Firing Range Alpha". Tyler was in awe to see that the room was well maintained. He also, for once during the breach, felt safe.
"Do you like it?" Bailey said.
"Uh, yeah! We're safe!" Tyler exclaimed.
"Well, it is part of the plan." Bailey replied.
"The plan?" Tyler curiously said.
"Yes, the plan. Us security guards are trained to head to the Security Center in an event like this. They call it the exit strategy, and so far, I'm liking it!"
