Here it is! Are you excited?
“La dee da, la la dee da! Oh this is great guys!”
“Flux, would you shut up? I’ve had about enough of your singing.”
“Come now, is that any way to talk to your friends, Devil? Besides, her singing isn’t that bad. That said though, we would both appreciate it if you would take a break from singing for a bit.”
“Oh alright, we have a guest anyways. Hiya there reader! Nice to meet ya, I’m Flux!”
“Flux, honey, there’s nopony here but us. Actually, technically, you’re the only pony here, since the two of us aren’t actually real.”
“Shut it, Angel! Nopony cares what you have to say!”
“Oh hush, Devil. You two be nice, I’m going to talk to the reader now.”
Alright, now you’re in my head. Be careful, alright? I’ve probably got some stuff lying around, so don’t trip on anything. So, what’re you visiting for? My story? Oh, of course. You are reading this after all, you must want something about me. Sorry, but I can’t tell you anything about my backstory. Not because I don’t want to, simply because I have no idea what it is.
Yeah, I know, It’s sad. I don’t know anything that happened before about… a month or so ago, so yeah. Anyways… Wait, what? You want to know about Angel and Devil? Alright, I guess. They’re just my imaginary friends. I like them, they keep me company when there’s nopony around.
So, I can’t tell you anything about my early days, but I can tell you about an adventure I had not too long ago. Wanna hear about that? You do? Awesome! Alright, just give me a minute, then we’ll get started. Let’s see, where did I leave that memory?
Ah, this was easy. It barely took any convincing at all and this stupid stallion was already convinced I was his wife. Even so… This kind of thing was never fun. Taking mares and replacing them to absorb love from ponies, it just never sat right with me. It was only for one night though, I could do that.
“Hi honey, how was your day?”
“Oh it was fine. Same as any other day. It’s better now that I’m with you though.”
“Aww, thanks, sweetie! How about we snuggle now?”
“Sure, let’s do it. Anything you say.”
Well, that was a little much. Either this mare was the one wearing the pants in this relationship or my control was more complete than I thought. Oh well, after this was over I could release hi-
Whoops, sorry about that, wrong memory. I, uhh… I guess you know I’m a changeling now… Yeah, sorry about that, but most ponies don’t take too kindly to taking the place of their loved ones.
Well, if you wanna leave, I’m not going to stop you…
Really? You’re staying? Yay! Thanks! Oh, and in case you were wondering, I always release the mares when I’m done, and then I leave town for a while. When I left, those two were fine. Alright, so now to find the memory I wanted to show you, just hang on. Let’s see… Ah, here it is. See you once it’s over!
“So, you up for it?”
“Sure! Sounds fun!”
Well, now that I had a job, from a nice-looking mare no less, I could stop wandering aimlessly around the wastes for a while. Hmm… How to go about it.
“Just kill everypony in your way!”
“No, you should be more diplomatic. There’s already enough death in the wastes.”
“But killing is fun, not to mention easier than trying to talk to everypony.”
“Devil, killing isn’t actually all that fun. Nothing’s more boring than a dead body. Believe me, it’s the most boring thing I’ve found so far.”
“Who are you talking to? We’re the only two here.”
“Oh, it’s just my imaginary friends, don’t mind them.”
“Right, if you say so.” And with that, the orange-coated unicorn disappeared in a bit of fire. Teleportation was weird. I knew how to do it, but apparently this mare had figured out how to make it more flashy by adding flame effects. Oh well, whatever floats her boat. It was kinda cool, anyways.
“Wait, what was the job again?”
“Come on, Flux, really? She wanted you to help her get rid of a problem of hers, remember?”
“Umm… Yeah… What was the problem again?”
“Ugh, you really need to pay more attention. She wants you to get rid of some buck that’s been causing problems with her organization.”
“Oh, right! Thanks Devil! Now we’ve just gotta find him…”
Maybe I spoke too soon when I said I was done wandering the wastes for a while. Oh well, traveling could be fun sometimes, though it was more fun when there were other ponies to enjoy it with.
“Time’s a-wasting! Let’s go!”
Well, this next part is kinda boring. I think I’ll just spare you that and skip through it. Let’s see… traveling, traveling, raiders, traveling, found the answer to life, the universe, and everything… 42… whatever that means...
Anyways, moving on. Found a town, he wasn’t there, and the rest of what happened doesn’t matter. Next, more traveling. Wow, I forgot how hard it had been to find this guy…
Ah, here we go, I think… Wait… No, this is right. Here we go again!
“Hey, is that the guy? What’s he doing here?”
“Hmm… It looks like it is indeed the stallion we’ve been looking for. Let’s go say hello, shall we?”
There was a white-coated unicorn walking through the facility I had decided to rest in. Well, at least he saved me the trouble of looking for him anymore. He seemed to be alone, which was good. Now to take care of him. I jumped down from the rafters with swords drawn, approaching him as he turned to face me, drawing his own sword.
“Well hello there. Sorry about this, but somepony wants you taken care of. Would you kindly let me kill you?”
“No, of course I’m not doing that, I’m not that stupid.”
“Well fine, I was just trying to be nice.”
No more talking after that, he just launched himself at me. I had to block using both swords, pushing him back before moving forward, slashing with both weapons. He jumped back, blasting some fire towards me, which I was forced to dodge by rolling to the side, looking up to see him about to slice my head off. Rolling the other direction took me out of the sword’s path as it bit into the ground.
Now that gave an opening. The stallion was trying to pull out his sword, and that opened the way for me to stab towards him with both weapons. He managed to get his weapon up in time to block the stabs, pushing me back afterwards. It’s obvious this is going to be much harder than I had thought.
He suddenly blasted flame forward, and I had to roll to the side to avoid it. He had fire magic too? Maybe he’s related to the mare that hired me somehow. Oh well, no time to think on that now, now is the time to fight. Dodging around the blasts of flame, I reached him soon enough, throwing a sword up into the air as I drew one of my shotguns, ready to blast him in the face. He dropped to the ground as I fired, the shot going right over his head as he grabbed my legs and tripped me, making me land on my side as he got up and tried to end me again.
Time to roll again! I got out of the way just in time, as his sword stabbed down right where my head had been, the sword I had thrown landing in such a way to make it much more difficult for him to get his sword back out. That was lucky. I’m not about to question it though. Aiming with the shotgun again, the blast was met by a magical shield around him.
Unfair! I blasted the shield again and again, and it fell after the last shot loaded into the shotgun. I was about to attack, but then I was thrown away by an explosion which made me fly into the wall and crumple to the floor.
You know, I don’t really remember the rest of that. I think the blow knocked me unconscious. Not really sure why he didn’t just kill me, maybe he thought I was already dead. Either way, I failed the job, but it was a fun little experience. I never actually saw that mare again, so I’m not sure what happened to her.
“Hey, isn’t that the stallion that we failed to kill?”
“Why yes, it appears so. Why don’t we say hello Flux?”
Well, looks like I’ll be leaving you now. Hopefully this meeting goes better than the last one. That one was a little violent. See ya later, and wish me luck!
