Prologue [Edited]
Load Full StoryNext ChapterThe air ruptured in screams of joy and happiness as graduation caps filled the air from the students who had just hit a new milestone in their lives. Family members and friends in the stadium (whom were also caught in the excitement) were cheering for joy while some were rushing to their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, niece, nephews or friends from the stands to graduated those who they came out to see. They had completed one of life great challenges which would help them have more open doors into the future. These students had finished college...
I looked around for my cap that I had thrown into the air in my excitement to no avail. For the most part... I did not bother to even just pick one up either. The parchment in my hands was all I really care about at that moment... funny how that is. All of this long work in life to be given a piece of paper that said you were good at something. Well I guess that is not true as I knew what I really cared about was the meaning behind having this piece of paper. Life was set on a path to finally start it in the right direction.... which is what they always wanted for me. It was not just to graduated college or something they force me to do... no.. for all they cared I could be working at like McDonald all my life if it made me happy. They being my parents.... had always told me "We just want you to be able to live life to the fullest, never to have any regrets, to do what you want to do that makes you happy and smile, and above all else do what allows you to just be...well you." Standing there I watch the sunny blue sky as clouds lazily floated by in the sky and knew that somewhere my parents were looking down at me smiling at what I had achieved.
Family members and friends started to go their separate ways with the student they came to see as fellow students said their final goodbyes. The graduation ceremony now over I started to walk towards the student's parking lot on the other side of campus. While walking slowly in the sun, I took in the sight of the university for the last time as past memories spent here roam around in my head. Thoughts of happy times during university rolled around in my head and the thought of my first day starting here came to mind. I sighed as I remembered that day... it was to me the most difficult day here. Starting college was my first major event in my life after my parents died in a car crash during my junior year of high school. I quickly rid that thought as I did not want to ruin my happy mood.
I was just in sight of my car when I figured I would change out of my graduation outfit and into some more comfortable clothing. Unlocking the back door on the driver side to the loads of cardboard boxes that were cramp into the back seat and passenger seat after I had finished clearing out my dorm room. I found a t shirt and shorts and ran into my dorm room real quick to change. Soon returning back outside, happy to be in something that was not making me want to itch all over, I walked to my car again and threw my graduation outfit in the back seat, locked the back seat, and closed the door. I walk over to the driver side car door and... tried to open it. To my surprise, it did not open and I smack my hand to my head realizing how dumb I felt that a newly graduated college student would forget that the door he locked 3 hours ago was still... locked. I search my pockets for my keys to also remember that they were still in my graduation outfit in the back seat... in the locked car.
I slam my head against the car and signed. "Well this is just such a great start." I said with an annoyed growl. I really hate the habit that my father had gotten me to learn. My father was a bit of the paranoid type and after my mother's car got broken into (nothing but a CD and some change was stolen out of the car) it made my father to start locking the car door when he got out... which in turn.... got me doing it after always telling me to do it as I got out of the car. Still leading my head onto the car, I search my pockets again for my phone which with some relief was in my right pocket. Pulling it out I let out a sigh and started to look up the phone number for the local police department so I could get them to come out and get my car unlocked. After finding the number via Google, entering it into my phone, and pressing the green phone icon before holding it to my ear....nothing.
I waited a couple seconds but still heard nothing... not even ringing.
Uh, why is this thing not making any noise? thinking to myself.
As I brought the phone back in front of me, I tap the screen and swipe my finger from the middle to the side to unlock it. The call menu show up on the screen and saw that I had actually started the call and the timer for the call was still going.
Do I even have a signal? I asked myself looking to the top of the smart phone to see I had service and all my bars. "Well, what in the hell is wrong with this damn thing?" I said out loud starting to get annoy again. I brought up the phone to my ear to hear nothing but silence again.
As I started to pull the phone away from my ear my mind finally focus on what was going around me. Somehow I failed to notice how I was currently being engulfed by darkness. Frozen in fear, my body stood there until my vision and all around me was filled with nothing by darkness as a unknown voice started laughing evilly as my eyes and body grew heavy and tiresome.
As I started falling unconsciousness, the voice whispered into my ear "Say goodbye to your world and hello to your new one. May your new life be filled with joy and happiness, sadness and anger, pleasure and pain, good and evil, and above all else harmony... and.. my personal favorite... CHAOS."
I caught a pair of yellow eyes with red pupils looking at me where the voice was coming from. The eyes filled my vision until my eyes went shut and I slipped into dreamland.
