Foe Hie Odyssey
Travel Log 1
Previous ChapterNext ChapterHaywire was on the run, and I would go with her since I couldn’t figure out anything else to do in this wasteland. I could hunt for the mare with a strange flank mark, but she could be anywhere. The only way that I’d find her is by wandering around and asking questions, which I couldn’t do because of my second skin. Haywire could however, and I was grateful that she did ask around at every town we came across.
There isn’t much to say of my wandering with Haywire from Canterlot to the borders of Equestria. During the war Equestria had apparently annexed some nearby City states and small independent kingdoms resulting in something like the Iron Curtain which I could barely recall from my own world.
As we travelled first northeast and then far to the northwest I noticed that the perpetually gloomy weather gave way to occasional glimpses of sunlight. While the lands we passed were similar irradiated desserts, I noticed that the amount of vegetation was steadily increasing.
Because most of our traveling was done off of the road and away from any population centers from before the war, there isn’t much to say of it, or at least for the first couple of weeks of travel. We would occasionally stumble upon small hamlets, with no more than two or three dozen ponies, living together in a handful of crude shelters.
We never met any raiders, and overall the travel was rather boring. We did occasionally come across wild animals that tried to kill us. They provided for much of our food and tradable supplies. Only occasionally having to fight, and then only against dangerous wild animals, made for a blissfully uneventful life. Leading a blissfully uneventful life helped my psychological state. It was a dull and lonely way to live, but I almost wish it could have lasted. Life would be so much simpler.
