//-------------------------------------------------------// Broken -by Fluttershyplush120- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// 01-Farm //-------------------------------------------------------// 01-Farm My name is Pinkamena Diane Pie. I live on a rock farm with my two sisters and my parents. It is a long and boring life on the farm. All we do is push rocks out of place and back into place. I am only a little filly right now, and my sisters are only a little bit older than me. I found a rock and hit it with my hammer. It broke and shattered into a bunch of pieces. I found a few tiny gems, and placed them in my bag. Then I walked over to Limestone. "Sis, I found something." I said. She pushed her mane out of her face and looked at me with her dull lime-green eyes. "What is it Pinkamena?" I pulled out the tiny peices of gem and showed them to her. She had to squint her eyes and look closely at them. Then she got a frown on her face an looked blankly at me. "Really? Are you serious Pinkamena? That is the worst find that i've seen all day." Then she slapped the pieces out of my hoof and trotted away. I stared at the pieces on the ground and felt tears well up in my eyes. My sisters never really appreciated what little things that I found in the rocks. I felt that no pony really cares for me. After we all finished our chores, Limestone, Igneous and I walked into the house. We greeted Mother and Father and sat down at our places at the table. Mother walked into the kitchen and set down plates in front of us. I looked at what we were eating today. It was some beans and a small amount of hay from the village. We didn't really have much food to go around, so we all had to ration it. Mother and Father sat down and we all began to eat. After dinner, Igneous went to help Mother with the dishes, Limestone went with Father to help him outside, and I went up to my room, all alone. This usually happens to me. Where everyone forgets about me and I end up all alone. I'm always alone. The next day, I went into the den. My Father was in there, reading the newspaper and smoking tobacco. I walked in and waited quietly until he noticed me. "Ah, Pinkamena. I want you to go start working in the fields with Igneous. I'll call you in when you finish." He told me. I looked up from the floor at him through dull light blue eyes. "Yes Father." I said blankly. As I walked out the door, I saw something that caught my eye. It looked like a small peice of paper. I looked around to make sure nopony was watching me, then walked over to the paper and picked it up. I looked at the faded writing on the paper and tried to read it as best as I could. "You are never alone, so don't think you are." What the hay did that mean? I didn't know, but I thought the words were inspiring, so I put the paper inside of my saddlebag. I picked up my hammer and pickaxe from besides the door, then got to work smashing rocks and collecting whatever gems I could find. The smallest gems I stuck inside of my bag to keep, since nopony would care about them anyway. The bigger gems I found were placed inside of the wooden crate near the door for things like selling them. I looked over at Igneous, who was busy trying to smash one of the biggest rocks. After a final swing downwards, she managed to split the rock in two. 'Boy, she sure is strong for a mare.' I thought in awe. I decided to practice swinging down like that. At first I tried it on small rocks, scince than was all I could do at this age. The rocks broke easily. Well, of course they would, they were small. I found a couple small gems. I stuck them in my bag. Then I moved onto medium-sized rocks. After 4 or 5 swings, the rock managed to gain a small crack. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" I yelled in frustration. I threw down the pickaxe on the rock as hard as I could. The sharp point of the pick hit the rock, and the rock split in two. It revealed a large gem in the middle. My eyes lit up at the amazement of it.' "OH MY GOSH!!" I screamed. "MA! PA! LIMESTONE! IGNEOUS! COME LOOK!" My family came running out to meet me; well, my find. "Woah! Pinkamena, did you find this?" Igneous gasped. "It's so big..." Limestone stuttered. "Pinkamena, was this your find?" Pa asked gruffly. "Yes Father." I said proudly. I felt so happy. I finally made my family happy, or, that's at least what I thought. Pa just looked at the gem, took my pickaxe off the ground, and raised it above his head. My pupils dialated as I realized what he was doing. "NO PA NO!!!" I screamed. I lunged at him, but it was too late. The pickaxe came down on my gem and shattered it. I fell on my stomach and sat there. I looked at my gem, broken into a million shards on the ground. I felt my eyes well up and tears fall down my cheeks. "Anything she finds; valuable or not, destroy it." Father said blankly. As I sat there, the rest of my family walked off to do chores of their own. I stared at the shards of gem on the ground, unable to do anything. Anything but cry. //-------------------------------------------------------// 02-Leaving Home //-------------------------------------------------------// 02-Leaving Home I opened my eyes and sat up in bed. Looking out the window I saw that it was still dark outside. I got out of bed and quietly tip-toed downstairs. As I looked into the doorway of the kitchen, my long dark-pink mane fell onto my left eye. Peeking into the kitchen, I saw Father in the fridge, the light showing him drinking some more of his beer. 'This might be bad for me when it reaches morning.' I thought. Whenever Father drinks, he always throws the glass bottles at me. The glass breaking over my body and causing me to bleed. He's done this to me ever since I was a little filly. Even now, as an teenager, he still throws bottles at me whenever I so much as speak. Father always seems to be in an drunken rage lately. At first when I was littler not so much. But now that I'm on my way to becoming a young mare, it has become more so. Limestone and Igneous are now the favorites of the family. I'm just the disappointment. Whenever Father sees me, he goes to harm me in some way. Whenever Mother saw me, she just looked away like she didn't even know that I was there. I felt like an outcast. Like the ugly duckling in a family of swans. I snuck back upstairs and crawled back into bed. I faced the wall but didn't fall back asleep. I laid there facing the wall for hours, until I felt the warm little rays of sunlight on the bottom of my hooves. I looked out the window and saw that it was still pretty early, so no pony would be up yet. I got back up and snuck back downstairs. I looked back into the kitchen and saw that Father was not there anymore. I snuck past and walked up to the front door. I opened it up and went outside. I quietly closed the door behind me and started trotting towards the farm. I had brought my saddlebag with me and my hammer. I quickly stared smashing rocks with my hammer and placing the gem pieces into my bag. " Lets see who's the early pony now Igneous and Limestone." I murmured. I started to move towards the next pile of rocks, when I heard a deep rumbling noise. I looked up into the the sky expecting to see something there that could've been causing the rumbling noise, but saw nothing. Then I saw a pony falling down out of the sky, a rainbow trailing behind her, or, him. No, It looked like a her. She was light blue and had a rainbow mane and tail. It looked like her wings were broken and she could not fly. I watched helplessly as she fell. I probably would have helped her, but she was too far away and I was just a useless Earth pony. I turned and continued to smash the rocks. As the sun crept up even further, I had practically cleared away the whole yard. Yes, I may have been covered in dust, and pieces of rock in my mane, and my hooves ached like hell, but I had actually felt like I accomplished something. I turned and started walking back towards the barn, just to see Igneous and Limestone come out, with their pickaxes and hammers in hoof. "You two can have the rest of the field, or what's left of it." I said calmly as they passed. I walked into the house and went into the kitchen. Mother was in there. She was just setting out plates for breakfast. "Hi Ma." I said, though I doubt she'd payed attention to me anyway. But I got a surprise this time. Ma turned around and looked at me, then looking around to make sure no pony else was around, she handed me a small slice of cake. "Here. I saved it from the day before, from your father's tea cake. Now eat it quickly, and don't let Pa see you." She said, urging it into my hooves. I politely took the cake and stuffed it into my mouth. After I finished chewing and swallowing, I looked at my Ma. "Thanks Ma." I whispered. She nodded at me and turned back around just as Pa came wobbling into the kitchen. "Pinkamena! You're in big trouble young lady!!" He slurred. I just sighed and walked over to him. "You're grounded!! Go to your room!" He shouted at me. Then he walked out and went to the den. Ma put a hoof on my shoulder, and I turned around. She handed me a note. I tucked it into my bag and trotted upstairs, where I then read it. "Meet me in the yard tonight okay? I have something to discuss with you" After I read it, I stuck it into my drawer and laid on my bed, taking a good long nap. When I woke up later that night, I saw a plate on my dresser. It had an even bigger portion of hay than i was used to, and some fruits and vegetables!! I smiled happily and ate it all up. Then, creeping downstairs, I quietly walked outside and to the far end of the field where Momma was waiting. "You wanted to see me Ma?" I asked her. "Yes dear. I wanted to tell you something. I'm sorry. All these years you were treated badly, and I hated it. But I couldn't help, in fear of Papa. But Now I can take action. You saw that mare fall from the sky yesterday too didn't you?" She told me. I gasped. She knew? But how? When? "Yes I did but, how did you see it?" I asked her in disbelief. "I saw the rainbow. I saw mine, and yours, freedom. You have to run away. Run away from this godforsaken farm! Its the only way to free the daughter I truly care about." "B-But what about pa?" Momma sighed. Then looked at me with dull yellow eyes. "You have to kill him." //-------------------------------------------------------// 03- A Killer //-------------------------------------------------------// 03- A Killer I sat up on my bed, unable to sleep. The words Ma had told me yesterday had made the fur on my neck stand up. 'Kill Pa? I-I don't think I can.' I thought, looking down at the sheets beneath my hooves. But Ma seemed so serious. Her eyes had been filled with tears, and I recalled her screaming, as Pa beat her the other day. I plopped my face down onto my pillow. "But.. He does hurt me and Momma.." I murmured into my pillow, mane falling slightly over my eyes. I closed my eyes halfway, looking up at the ceiling. 'I don't think I could kill him. I CAN'T kill him! He's my Pa..' I thought. I sighed and closed my eyes, sleeping through the rest of the afternoon. ... Later, sometime around Midnight, I heard a small scream, and a cry. I bolted upright in bed. "Mamma?" I whispered, looking towards my door. A few seconds later, momma came into my room. I couldn't see her face, as it was hidden by her mane. "Ma? You.. you okay?" I asked, getting up off my bed. Momma shut the door to my room and walked over to me. There was something a bit off about her walk. She came and leaned on me, I could feel her trembling. I frowned and helped her over to my bed, where we sat at the top. "Ma, what happened?" I asked, worry etched across my face. Ma said nothing for a minute. Then she looked up at me. She had a black eye, and a bruise on her cheek. I gasped. "Did.. did Pa do this?" I asked, clenching my teeth together. Ma nodded solemnly. I cuddled up next to Mamma, as she buried her face in my mane. "It'll be alright." I whispered. It was then, that I knew what I had to do. He had hurt me. He had treated me as an outcast. Nopony loved me like I was an actual living being. I was treated like a wild animal. But now I knew. After all these years, I finally knew. After what he did to Ma, I knew. I had to kill him. It was the middle of the night. I had let Ma stay in my room, she was fast asleep in my bed. I had my head lowered, mane falling over half of my face. Sneaking past Marble and Limestone's rooms, I went down to the living room. I peeked in the kitchen, no pony was there. The fridge was open, and I squinted from it's light shining through the pitch black of the house. I snuck over to the den. There was Pa, with a bottle of beer in his hoof. He was drunk of course, but fast asleep. I trotted to the kitchen, grabbing an empty beer bottle. Then, walking back to the den, I sat in the chair across from Pa. It made a creak as I sat down, which in turn, woke Pa up a little bit. "Pinkamena Diane Pie! Why are you out of your bed?! You tryin' to get a beating?" He slurred, in his gruff, deep voice. I grit my teeth, clutching the bottle tighter in my hooves. "Pa..." I said, head still lowered. Pa couldn't see my eyes. It was silent in the den for what seemed like forever. Finally, I looked him in the eyes. Pa shrunk back, a glimmer of fear shown in his eyes. My light blue eyes, which were usually bright and bouncy, were now dull and dialated. "We need, to have a little, talk." Pa jumped up from his chair, angry. He stomped over to me, raising the bottle above his head. "How DARE you speak to me that way young lady?!" He bellowed, bringing down his arm, ready to smash the bottle over my head. I reacted with unearthly speeds. My empty hoof raised and blocked Pa's, and I used my hind leg and bucked him in the stomach. He stumbled back, dropping the beer bottle on the floor in shock. It made a 'SMASH' sound, as it shattered on the ground. I stood up, walking over the broken glass. I smashed my own bottle, but only the bottom. The bottom of the beer bottle was now a mess of sharp and crooked shards. It was sharp enough to stab through flesh. Pa looked up at me, the fear in his eyes showing a lot more clearly now. "Pinkamena, what are you doing?" He said, his voice shaking slightly. I growled. "Well, what do you THINK I'm doing Papa? All my life, you've tortured me, hurt me and Ma, treated me like an outcast, an ANIMAL. It was like I was never even there. You could've at least TRIED to be a REAL FATHER." I said, walking ever so slowly towards him, beer bottle in my hooves. Pa, still backing away, tripped over a small stool, causing him to fall onto his back on the ground. I walked even closer. "I've always HATED you Papa. I TRIED to feel love for you, but I just couldn't. My hate for you has only GROWN, and GROWN." I said, my voice sounding duller than what it usually was. Pa scooted back as far as he could, until bumping into the wall. He was cornered now. "P-Pinkamena, I know. I've been a terrible father. I-I never knew what was wrong with me. I-I felt bad about it! I really did! P-please, d-don't kill m-me.. My sweet, sweet daughter.. I'm so so sorry..." He said, staring at me with sad eyes. I lowered the bottle, showing sadness in my eyes. I walked closer to him, anf fell on him. I hugged Pa tightly, pulling him away from the wall. "Papa.." I started. Pa smiled, hugging me back. Just then, there was an 'Oof', and I heard Pa stuttering and trying to breathe. The sharp edges of the bottle were buried deep into his back, right where his heart was. "Papa..." I said again, eyes still dull and emotionless. "..You'd be crying, if you were truly sorry. Yet, not a single tear. You. Were. Lying." I said, shoving the bottle deeper into his back. Pa coughed up some blood, choking and trying to speak. I let go of the bottle and Papa, letting them both collapse to the floor. "Nighty night Papa." I smiled widely. I leaned close to his face, and his dilated eyes slowly looked over to me. "See ya in Hell." I whispered, before he finally went limp. Standing up straight, I grabbed Pa by the leg. Slowly, I dragged his lifeless body across the den floor, taking him outside. Pa would never hurt anypony, ever, again. Author's Note Heyyyy! Sorry for all the lateness! Wait, why am I even bothering to write this? No one would care or read it anyways XD Okay, continue your story!
