Chapter 3

Pinkie Pie

Ditzy was dreading this. She couldn't get the strength to hurry to Sugar Cube Corner past the apprehension and the guilt. It weighted down on her so much it kept her from flying high and quickly. As she hovered along the ground, she thought back to what caused this guilt. It was all the way back this morning, the same morning where she woke up late and missed breakfast. Still hungry, she had hoped that she could grab a quick breakfast before heading into work.

Luckily, it was a morning where the Cakes had set up a stand to sell breakfast outside. Pinkie Pie was behind the table, a big smile on her face even while many a pony were still trying to wake up. Her curly hair even more alive as it bounced around as she did move around. And on the table before the excited Earth Pony was Ditzy's favorite kind of pastry.

Muffins! Crunchy tops and soft warm insides filled with yummy things perfect for being spread with butter, jelly or jam. So many good breakfast flavors. Blueberry, banana nut, strawberry and more and more and so much more! She couldn't wait to eat a few and stuff many more in her saddlebags! Her hunger made her quickly order one of the banana nuts and miss Pinkie giggling more than one should when selling a muffin. If she had seen it, she'd might have been more careful when taking the whole thing in her mouth and avoided getting a mouthful of more than just yummy muffin.

A spice ball, made with a bit of rainbow, popped from inside the middle of the muffin and coated her tongue with it's shearing heat. She quickly spit it and her muffin out before dragging her hooves across her tongue to try and get the heat off. But it was no good, it burned and numbed her taste buds, replacing flavor with more of the heat and the pain.

Pinkie Pie was giggling up a storm on the other hand. It was a harmless prank. A bit of spice to wake someone up. Ditzy would normally be laughing along with her, but today after missing breakfast and almost running late. To have her hopes of having a breakfast broken so quickly, the pegasus lost her temper. Just as Pinkie Pie was reaching under the table to grab some milk, Ditzy pushed over a whole tray of muffins on top of the Earth Pony. She popped her head up to see what was wrong only to be meet with the mumbled yelling from the pegasus, her tongue and lips spiced so badly she couldn't form any coherent words but the force behind what she got out what she said was enough to leave the Earth pony and everypony around speechless.

Ditzy didn't know what overcame her. She couldn't make herself stop and for the most part she convinced herself that she didn't want to. This was all Pinkie Pie's fault anyway. Ditzy just wanted a breakfast and Pinkie Pie had to pull one of her pranks and ruin it. Now she might not be able to talk at all today and she'll get in trouble for that and people will laugh at her and she'll cry like Pinkie is now.

Ditzy caught herself as she saw that Pinkie Pie was starting to grow misty eyed. That tightness in her chest that she thought was her just running out of breath grew more as she felt angry at herself now instead of Pinkie Pie. Ditzy had done something she swore she'd never do. She yelled at someone for something that wasn't completely their fault.

The shame she felt was too much for the Pegasus to get beyond and try to apologize. Her mouth worked for the words, but she couldn't form them and instead took off into the sky as fast as she could. Leaving behind a bigger mess than a few fallen muffins.

Now she headed to the scene of her crime, her eyes growing more and more misty as she got closer. Even while she rubbed them clear with her hooves, she still had trouble seeing where she was going. Her eyes watering up faster than she can wipe them away. And it was while she had both hooves covering her eyes that she did quickly come up on Sugar Cube Corner. And it was when she could see that she did see she was going to crash again.

“Oh feathers..” Was all she got out before she curled up in the trained reaction to an unavoidable crash and waited for the impact.

Sadly, this is all I can come up with for this part of the story. I'm not sure if it's the character or the prank, or the moral for this chapter that is causing the problem. But until I solve it, I'll just leave ya'll with what I written so far so you don't think I forgot about ya'll.
