This Is Just The Begining
The stallion galloped down the deserted road until he came upon a faded, old sign. He peered closely at it in an attempt to read the peeling paint. Finally he deciphered the lowest sign which pointed to the right and read 'Canterlot-15 miles'. The stallion paused, looking around him and letting the wind blow through his mane, before he adjusted his saddlebags and cloak and began to gallop off down the right road. As he ran around a curve in the road, an unearthly sound echoed across the land many miles away. It sounded like a cross between a screech of torture and a howl of delight, but its message was clear. Some creature had just scented its prey.
Twilight Sparkle trotted down the street, her saddlebags full of new parchment, quills, and ink. Behind her a young green and purple dragon ran to catch up to her having lagged behind because he was starring at an arrangement of sparkling gems. "Come on Spike, hurry up," Twilight called back to him as she looked back at him.
"I'm coming! I was just-" he was suddenly interrupted by a blaze of bright green flames that were followed by the arrival of a sealed scroll. Before the scroll could fall to the ground a pink glow of magic surrounded it, keeping it afloat a breaking the seal so that it could be unrolled. Twilight brought the scroll closer with her magic and began to silently read the letter from Princess Celestia while Spike sat on a nearby bench grumbling to himself.
"Ohmigosh, Spike! Princess Celestia wants us and the others to come to Canterlot and help with the preparations for the Grand Galloping Gala!" Twilight squealed, temporarily losing her librarian-like composure.
