Prologue
Twilight Industries, Canterlot City.
1945
Spike Sparkle, chief of Twilight's security, found his sister standing in front of the enormous window in her office. The city lights shined into the dark room on that stormy night. The only other source of light was the lamp placed on Twilight's desk. So the mare was mostly in shadow. She herself was dressed in a long, beautiful gray dress. She tapped her hoof on the hard wood floor as she gazed out at the city.
Lighting cracked in the sky. Its light illuminating the room for a moment. Spike jumped a little at the sound of thunder that followed. The teenage drake had always hatted thunder ever since he was a hatching. Spike shook his head and took a step forward. His soaked jacket leaving a puddle behind him. He was tired, cold, and wanting so badly to go home to his apartment. But when Twilight Sparkle sends you a letter in the middle of the night to come over. You do as ordered. No matter if your related to her or not.
"Spike, thanks for coming." said Twilight, not turning around. "Were you followed?"
"No."
"Good. I don't want any of Celestia's goons finding out about this." said the mare, turning around and siting at her desk. "What I have planed to show you Spike must not be heard by the wrong ears. Understood."
Spike nodded. This was understandable. Ever since Twilight and Celestia began butting heads, it was not uncommon to noticed a mare or stallion following both Twilight and himself everywhere they went.
Spike took off his jacket and took a seat. Crossing his strong arms the drake asked.
"So... whats this all about Twi?"
Twilight smiled. Her horn lit up and a flash enveloped the desk. Then laying on the desk was a large blueprint. Of what though, Spike had no clue. It looked like Marehattan. But different.
"This Spike, is the worlds salvation. An under water paradise. Where the great will not be contained by the small. Where pigs like Celestia wont destroy. A place for us few to live. As the world above kills itself." Twilight used her magic and picked up a pin. Writing on the top of the blueprint she wrote a word. "I call it... Rapture!"
Spike was silent for a moment. Then the drake scratched his head and let out a deep sigh.
"Looks like I won't have to worry about lighting anymore." He laughed, nervously.
Twilight smiled sweetly. The look of a visionary disappeared. Replaced by the kind expression of a sister. A expression that Spike was seeing less and less these days.
Twilight stood up and went around the table. She embraced her brother in a warm hug.
"I'm sorry Spike," She looked into his eyes. "I know how difficult it's been the past year. But don't you worry! With my idea of Rapture we can soon start living happy lives again. And once all the construction is finished, we can invite our friends back home to live there too."
Spike lightly smiled.
"Even Rarity?"
She giggled and rolled her eyes.
"Yes Spike. Rarity too."
Spike closed his eyes and returned the hug. Moments like this were rare between himself and Twilight nowadays. It was a sad truth. But the truth nonetheless. So Spike enjoyed every second of it.
"Promise?"
"I promise Spike."
