First Impressions

     Shadow slowly walks home, after being abused and made fun of by his co-workers, he sits down on the chair and sighs miserably "i hate this place." he says, almost monotone. he slowly gets up and trots to his bed and sleeps. he tosses and turns at night, getting hardly any sleep at all. he gets up in the morning and heads off into the mines, as usual. he strikes at the stones in front of him for coal, and loads them into the cart and pushes it into the next room, after returning to his pick and hitting the coal vein again, he notices a glimmer within the blackness of the collected coal inside the cart. he quickly looks inside and pulls out not coal, but a diamond, one the size of a swelled apple, and with such beauty words would fail to begin to explain what this diamond looks like. he picks it up and thinks "wow, this is beautiful, but it obviously was owned.

      Its been cut and well edited. who in the right mind would lose it in a coal bin? maybe they don't want it..i should probably go give it back.." just as shadow began to walk down to his superior, and give him the diamond to return to its owner, he began to think about it once more. "well..if they lose it in a coal mine, they must have not wanted it. imagine what i could do with it.." just as he does, a bigger, larger changeling bumps into shady laughing, and he falls and the diamond falls onto the floor. the large changeling says with awe "you found a diamond.." clears his throat with a smug grin "i mean i found a diamond.." he says with an undeserved triumph. shady quickly stumbles to his feet and says "g-give it back you jerk!" the larger changeling turns around, and looks at him "shut up runt, and get back to mining, this diamond is mine!" he pushes shady, as he hits the cart and knocks all the coal out it. the changeling crowd all shout and grunt curses as he tips the cart. they all lug coal at shady, and he yelps in pain as the rocks hit him hard.

      He stumbles to his feet, picking up the pickax as told to by the bigger changeling, but instead faces him, and says sternly "i don't want any trouble, but i earned that diamond when i found it. id like it back. now please give it to me." the other changelings all laugh at shady as he demands what he wants, despite being small and having virtually no strength to be seen to back it up. the bigger changeling swings at shady, but shady ducks just in time, proceeding to grab his hoof, and break it, and kick him away into the coal bin, take the diamond, and kick the bin away. it falls down into the receiver floor as he glares at all the other changelings, who have fallen silent at the sudden change of heart. the guards of the mine come rushing in, and see shady with a pickax in hand along with a diamond and everypony staring amazed. a green eyed changeling lunges at him, and he moves out the way as the green eyed changeling falls on the floor, he then picks up the pickax, and without a second thought, slams the pickax into his leg. as he screeches and pain, and everyone continues to access that the young peppy and easily pushed over changeling they knew as shady, had just broke a stallions leg.

     Shady runs. he runs as fast as he as ever ran. in fear of getting caught, he runs faster and faster, out of the hive and into the dense forests. he drops the diamond, but keeps running. under the influence of his adrenaline, he runs all the way to ponyville, and stops in the square panting heavily sweating horribly, he barely gets out the word "h-..Hi..". everypony looks at him, and a yellow hoof extends to him, and the owner of said hoof proceeds to hand him cider, which he chugs and downs in second. "t-thank you so much.." he says, a slight bit more rested. a soft, and beautiful voice in reply says "your welcome. im fluttershy.."
