A Thousand years ago the Miasma, a creature that absorbs fear, took over the world of Equestria. Princess Luna, despite warnings from her sister Celestia, spoke with the gods of old and made a pact to establish a defense against the immortal creature. The Zodiac Guard is made up of two parts. One is the basic army who defends Equestria at night, the Nocturnal Guard, also known as the Bat Races. The other are the rare few who bare the mark of the Celestial Zodiac, known more commonly as the Zodiac Guard. Between these two they fight against the Miasma's ever growing and evolving force of Nightmares.
Now after the entire world of Equiss was destroyed by war and savage greed, this monster returns evolved beyond what it was and its up to a new generation to revive an old guard or else Equestria and the dawning new world will be plunged into a thousand years of darkness and slaughter once again.
