This story takes place in a kingdom most of us know well. A kingdom sometimes called the magical land of Equestria; most of us tell the tale of how it was founded every Hearth's warming eve. However, few of us know what happened after, about the first Canterlot or the story of a brave group of ponies that fought against the powers of chaos that sought to destroy it. The story of these heroes has been lost to time but their actions paved the way for future generations.
Prologue
Our story began after the leaders of the three tribes discover Equestria, a remarkable and beautiful land. When the leaders returned to their cities, they told their subjects about the wonders they have found in this new realm. The gentle winds and beautiful open skies, the fertile verdant fields that stretch out as far as the eye can see and the majestic snowcapped mountains full of gold, gems and many other magnificent treasures.
Their subjects were overjoyed to hear about this new world, until the leaders told them about their plan to build one glorious city for all the tribes to share. The tribes have been segregated for as long as anypony could remember and to suggest they unite so suddenly, outraged a vast majority of the populace.
The ponies of the tribes were not there to see the wonder of harmony, the majestic power that blew away the accused winter brought by the wendigos, and the story of it was not enough to change their minds or their hearts.
No matter how they pleaded, the leaders could not get the majority to agree to a single city. At a loss, they gathered to discuss their choices. They decided that trying to force the races to live together would not work, so instead they chose to build a city for each race but allow any type of pony to live in any city. The pegasi even agreed to build a small town beneath their cloud city for the earth ponies and unicorns.
The unicorns built a city in the North East at the base of a large gem filled mountain; they gave it the name Cornucopia.
The pegasi built their cloud city in the North West over a grand valley and named it Windfall.
The earth ponies built their city to the South in a vast fertile plain; they decided to call it Claymore.
When all the cities were complete, the tribes gathered their belongings and moved to this new world. Most ponies went to their respective cities but to the delight of their leaders, a few ponies chose to live with the other races.
At first things were difficult insults and conflict were commonplace, but if the hatred grew excessive the leaders would quickly put their hooves down and remind the ponies of what hatred brings.
Though sometimes they would get disheartened and lament the loss of their great dream, the leaders never gave up hope, for they knew harmony’s splendor and believed that if it could thaw their once frigid hearts, there was nopony whose heart could not be warmed.
After two generations thanks to the hard work of the first leaders their children and their grandchildren, Equestria was relatively peaceful, aside from the occasional bickering and monster attack.
While hatred would sometimes show its unsightly face, it was no longer uncommon for a unicorn to have an earth pony as a neighbor or to have a pegasus as a friend.
The new leaders saw that there was now a chance for their grandparent’s dream of a single unifying city to come true, so they decided to give it a try.
The leaders gathered to look at a map of their land and they find a perfect spot right in the middle. This one place has it all calm cool winds, lush green grass, bountiful riches and it would be a great way to connect the three cities together. It seemed like a paradise; however, there was one problem, the territory they wanted to use was close to a dark awful place that nopony dared enter, a dangerous unforgiving wilderness where hideous pony-eating monsters dwell, a wilderness known as, The Everfree Forest.
The leaders knew the risks but they believed this place was just too good to pass up and the time seemed right, so they set their plan in motion.
When the city was completed, the leaders agreed to name it Canterlot and each sent to it a group of twenty-five ponies, each with a counselor to represent their respective crown. The councilors were to govern Canterlot, uphold the law and assure the town’s success, but this task would prove more difficult than any could imagine.
