Chapter 1: Mission
The area felt warm, welcoming, and safe. Unlike the cold metallic corridor of a CIS ship. I slowly got up, my mind was spinning and felt dizzy. My eyes stung from the sunlight, the ship was rather dark, and did not have grass floors. I felt my belt for my weapon, my lightsaber, thankfully it was still there.
“Master?” I shielded my eyes as I looked around. “Master Trogo’un?” The elder Twi’leik was nowhere, neither the squad of ARC troopers. All I saw where trees. “Looks like I’m on my own. The force will guide me, Master Trogo’un would always turn to the force.” I sat down and crossed my legs and meditated.
That’s when I heard a yelling. I snapped my eyes open and dashed through the trees stopping every few steps to listen. I continued to run, noticing the increase in the force as I approached what I hoped was the source.
I got to the edge of the trees and stopped. I grabbed my binoculars. What I saw surprised me, it was a small squad of droids with a Super Battle droid. I put the binoculars away and used the force to shoot from the trees and across the field of grass separating the forest from the town. I activated my lightsaber, the blue blade extending, taking an Ataru form, not giving them a chance to react with accuracy.
Activating my lightsaber got the droids attention. “Jedi! Blast him!” I deflected the blaster shots and closed the distance, slicing through the Super first and quickly finishing off the five battle droids.
I deactivated my saber and reattached it to my belt. “At least it was only six. Ten would have been a bit more fun.” I looked around as the people of the town. Now, I have seen a lot of different races, but this one had me. They looked like anthropomorphic multi-colored equines, some had horns and others had wings. “Strange.” Well, to them, I was the strange one. “Uh……hello?” I waved my hand and they stayed silent. “Um…..I come in peace?” Really hoping this doesn’t go south.
“Don’t move.” I heard someone behind me and turned around to see no one. “Up here, numbskull.”
“What?” I looked up to see a cyan one with wings and rainbow hair. “What an odd sight.”
“Hey, who are you calling odd!?” She glared at me. “You’re the odd one!”
“Rainbow dash, calm down. That is no way to talk to someone.” I looked back down to see a group approaching me. Five of them. The one leading them had wings and a horn. “I am Princess Twilight Sparkle, Princess of friendship. Who are you?”
“A Jedi.” I kept my hand on my lightsaber on my belt.
“That’s not your name I assume.”
“You’d be right.” I moved my hand slowly in front of me. “You don’t need to know my name.”
“I’d like to know it to be honest. Not every day we get something completely alien visiting Ponyville.” She came closer as the blue one back off.
“Why should I trust you?” I stepped back, taking a Shien form.
“We haven’t attacked you yet sir. And with how you handled those things,” She motioned to the broken droids. “We wouldn’t want to.”
I started to relax. “Very well. I still don’t fully trust you.”
“Understandable. We can head to my castle to talk in private if you wish.”
“Castle?” She pointed behind me. “Huh, didn’t see that…..” It looks made of crystal. “Interesting.”
“Shall we?” She was offering a place to talk privately.
“What about the droids?”
“Right. Pinkie?”
A pink on popped up in front of me and scared me a little. “Yes Twilight?”
“Can you clean this up?”
“No problem, put them in the castle?”
“Please.”
“Okie-dokie-lokie!” A large cart was brought from somewhere and she threw the broken droids into it.
“Right, with that, shall we Mister Jedi?” She gave a gentle smile, her eyes full of curiosity.
“Of course, lead the way Princess.” I gave a small bow. She is royalty after all.
On the way to the castle, the people of the town looked from the homes. They’re curious looks where mixed with smiles. Probably happy about the droids being gone. I wonder how I got here to be honest. Was it the force deciding that this world needed a Jedi? It would be a very curious thing, maybe impossible, but with the how the force is, nothing truly is impossible.
As we arrived at the castle, it looked bigger up close then before. “Quite the castle Princess. I’ve seen a number, and this one is the most unique one I’ve seen. The crystal feels, alive.”
“Wait, you can feel that too?”
“Yes. It’s as if it speaks.”
As we went through the door she tapped her chin. “Can you use magic?”
“I use the force, but some call it magic. It connects all living things and it may be more then what even many master Jedi understand.” The other five followed us.
“Interesting. So, can you tell me your name now?”
I smiled. “Of course. I am Jedi Knight Martiain Sur’Lox. I am not a Jedi Master, that would be my master Trogo’un. He is probably upset that I vanished to some unknown land, if he knew.”
“What do you mean ‘if he knew?’ “
“Well, I kind of just woke up here. Not sure how or why, but it must be for some reason. The force will reveal it to me in time. Master Trogo’un taught me that.”
“Right. So, I guess first question is who is this ‘Master Trogo’un?’ Did I say that right?”
“Yes. Now, an easy way to explain that would be to give a basic break down of how Jedi are titled. Initiate, Padawan, Knight, and Master. Initiate being very young, five or maybe seven, depends. Master Skywalker was brought in late, but he was a special case. Padawan is when the young Jedi are put under a master. A teacher really. But after time they can feel like a mother or father figure for some, or brother and sister. Jedi believe emotions, properly controlled, can give you great power. But that can be dangerous. Now, A knight, such as I, are closer to being Masters and can have Padawans of our own if the council allows it. Finally, Master Jedi. Masters are those who have shown grand knowledge and understanding of the force and might still have a Jedi Knight under them. A notable pair is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Skywalker has been a Jedi longer than me, so I address him as master even when we hold the same title as Jedi Knights.” I noticed the quill and paper in her hands.
“So, these Jedi tough or as fast as me?!” The rainbow one puffed out her chest and tried to look superior.
“Most likely faster and stronger by miles.” That deflated her ego.
“Wow, that’s not as much as I thought it would be.”
I chuckled. “Trust me, it can be a lot more Princess.” I followed her into a large room. Where chairs and a table made from crystal sat in the center. “Interesting, it reminds me of a Jedi command center.”
“So tell me Martiain. Have you been in a lot of battles?”
“Darling, is that a question we should be asking?” A white one with a horn spoke up.
“Yeah, I’m all for knowing tha’ guy, but that’s kinda’ a hard question.”
“Yes. And before you ask, I have seen other Jedi die. Its war, it happens. We cannot dwell on it.”
“Right. Sorry.” They took their seats and I stood next to the Princess’s chair. “Sorry, we don’t have another chair out.”
“No worries, I am fine standing.” I used the force to reach out and feel the structure. “This crystal is like Kyber, its alive. It…. tells tales…..”
“This Force, it’s like magic. But, its more and completely different……that’s a bit confusing.”
“Princess. The Force is connected to life. It is life.” I placed my hands on the table and it lit up, showing a map of some sort. I pulled my hand back. “What is this?”
“It’s a map of Equestria. It tells us when there is a ‘friendship’ problem. But, it hasn’t done much recently. We haven’t been able to get it to do anything.”
I noticed a red glow in the forest marked on the map near Ponyville. “What’s that? The red glow.”
“I’m not sure. I should send word to the Princess. Spike!!”
A door opened quickly and what looked like a Kryat Dragon, but small and purple and green came through the door. “Yes Twilight? Oh, who’s this?”
“Martiain, but send a message to Princess Celelstia please. The map is showing a red glow in the forests of the Everfree. Near the old castle. Also, we have a new visitor, he’s friendly but definitely not from Equestria.”
“Done….and….done. Sent.” He breathed a green flame and it was gone.
- (Everfree Forest, castle of the Two Sisters)-
Deep in the stone walls was a crumbling vault that also looked like a tomb. On a pedestal sat a red three-sided pyramid, small, and glowing a dark red. “Yes……the force……someone has come……” A maniacal laugh echoed in the halls. Stones fell from the walls and a stone casket cracked.
